New, shiny and very classy cool place to drink cocktails, have fun and dance. It opened a few weeks back and I really wanted to check this place out. Went out with many of my friends together and it may have become our favorite spot. 1. Decor Absolutely love the fact they have such high ceilings, thanks to the old library building, super high back leather chairs and overall classy sophisticated design makes this place really cool. 2. Drinks They serve a few signature cocktails and I liked all of them. They don't serve food here. 3. Dance You could technically dance anywhere. There's no dedicated dance floor. 4. Music They have DJs both inside and outside (patio) and good. 5. Patio It consists of 2 sections. Downstairs where you can hear each other better and large group setting tables or upstairs where you can sit or dance. 6. Hookah lounge Okay, I never did this so I didn't try it. But could see people who like hookah, enjoying it. It's also my first time seeing such thing as hookah lounge inside a bar/lounge. All in all, i think place is the new best dance, get together, lounge, cocktail place in Minneapolis. Highly recommend to check it out if you haven't been there yet. read more

From first glance, this club has lots of potential to be greater than what they intended. No doubt, the decoration, architecture, bar and seating areas are classy and elegant. It is probably the best in the Twin Cities. The DJ area was in the middle but kinda tucked away and hidden behind the super XXL sofas and chairs in this place, so you won't see them in the dark lights. I don't know if it's good or bad, but I like watching the DJ in action sometimes when I go out dancing. She was playing some good dance music. Before you head to Mansion, you have to come with an open mind and lots of forgiveness in your heart. Drink a lot or take a chill pill before you come because this place has lots of rules. The night we were here, there were more security guards and "hostess" sweeping the floor than regular customers. I call them hostess, but I don't really know what they do other than stand around looking gorgeous and smiling. They didn't greet us when we came in or take our drink orders throughout the night so I don't really know what they do. I heard there is dress code for the men so make sure you have collared shirt and long pants on. As for the ladies, you don't have to remind us to dress to kill for a night out. The is no cover charge so that's pretty awesome since we are sure to be drinking inside anyway. However, their policies for not allowing jackets laying around doesn't make for a fun time. I have never been to a club where they force you to either wear your darn jacket or pay for coat check service and only if you can find it due to poor signage. Firstly, I was told to remove my jacket from laying it on the arm rest of a couch that was supposedly reserved for an invisible party because no one showed up. Secondly, they tell me I can't put my jacket on the bar stool when we finally found some kind souls to share their limited bar seating area with us!! Really!!!!!!!!!?????? Mansion?????? My last encounter with Mansion's rules (whew this one tops the icing on the cake), I put down my empty champagne glass on a nearby table because we were having so much fun dancing that I didn't want to risk breaking a glass on the dance floor only to be told I have to put my glass at the bar! In short, he is telling me "bus your own empty glass, lady!" I asked him if he could take the glass away for me only to be refused because he is too good to do just that (provide good customer service) because he has a black suit on and an ear piece. I am a paying customer Mansion!!!??? Some advise for Mansion- let loose on your rules! There are not enough tables to put down our darn drinks so we can dance hands free! Came here with a bunch of friends - beautiful upscale place, free entrance. We didn't have reservations and found a nice area to sit outside. Hookah was great, a little strong. Service- prompt, and diverse crowds - fun to look at. The music was so-so, did not really inspire us to dance. A lot of people were just standing aside and mingling, rather than dancing. By the time we left (past 2AM), the club was still busy and crowded. read more

Went for my boyfriend's birthday and the Mansion was an awesome choice. We started with bottle service and hookah out on the lounge. It's the perfect combo on a summer night if you want to kick it on the patio. Service was great (thanks, Peace!) and the decor of the hookah is extremely eye-catching. Actually, the decor of the entire place is all beautiful. There's also a dance floor and more lounge space in the inside, decked with high posh furniture and modern lights that makes it all Insta-Worthy. More bars too. Where should I begin. The squad and I wanted to switch things up and figured Latin Night at the Mansion would be the perfect change of pace. We pulled up in the Uber and joined the line. This is where the things started going downhill. We were getting our IDs checked by the bouncer and he asked for me to remove my bomber jacket. He was appalled that I only had a simple black t shirt underneath. He apologized and said that I could not get in because I was not dressed up enough. Two things became apparent at that moment: 1) The place was pretentious and 2) The bouncer had obvious never felt the touch of a Pima cotton T laying on his skin before. It's both comfortable and stylish. However, I am a man of peace and I complied. Shouts to bouncer, cool dude I respect the hustle. In summary, I was ready to drop my dad's AMEX on multiple rounds of drinks. Collectively, the squad was quite thirsty and we had a solid game plan going in. I was robbed of the opportunity to meet my future wife in there that night and for that reason, I give this establishment a 1 Star review. read more

I came here this past Friday for a friend's birthday. Since it was in the dead of winter, with -20 degree temps, I wasn't able to enjoy the patio, but I heard that it's very nice. The nice part that I was able to enjoy was the décor - with the gorgeous chandeliers. The main area of Mansion is kind of one super large room, with high ceilings, a dj booth in the center, and a bar on either side, on the opposite side of the dj booth. I also appreciated that there was some free seating at these small tables, clustered by either bar. I really enjoyed the service - both bartenders that I dealt with were super nice, way more friendly than your typical club bartender. And the music! Dj RonRon was playing the night I went, and I really liked his mix of pop + 90's throwback. Although it seemed a bit empty for such a large space, there was a nice crowd of people dancing, with plenty of space to dance, near the end of the night. I was also able to venture upstairs by obtaining a black bracelet. I am still confused on how one would typically go about obtaining this black bracelet. We tried to go upstairs without a bracelet, and was told we needed one. So I got one from my friend who was friends with a manager - pretty fuss free actually, maybe all you have to do is ask the right person for a bracelet? After the additional efforts to get a bracelet though, I was pretty disappointed by the upstairs. It's really nothing special - or at least nothing more special than the main area. With no cover, a $2 coat check, and fancy space, it reminds me a lot of the W hotel bar downtown. Although it's roomier, it also has a slightly older, but well-dressed clientele. read more

This place is awful. Not awful like when you go to a party and you're completely invisible because you're under 6ft and you don't have the aesthetics of a Greek God or Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Dawn era) but awful in the sense that it sure felt that way. Before I even managed to enter the pretentious Mansion, I was greeted by 3 different checkpoints. The first checkpoint was more or less some guy telling me to advance to the second checkpoint. Prior to leaving checkpoint 1, I managed to exchange some pleasantries with man 1 and asked if the Mansion supplied Voss. With a perplexed look on his face, he retorted "I believe they do." Relief washed over me in a very satisfying way. At checkpoint 2, some average looking man asked for my ID. After scrutinizing my Benjamin Button looking face he finally let me through. Already disoriented from waiting in line, I was then greeted by three women at checkpoint 3. Of the three, the only attractive (and polite) one was standing in the back. Instead of greeting me with high energy and warm smiles, a very sad looking, disgruntled Asian (possibly Hmong) glared at me and asked for 15 dollars. I asked her what sort of fun that would guarantee me. With an annoyed look on her face, she told me to either leave or pay her. That's when the attractive blonde chimed in with "hot girls and booze'. I was already sold on the place having VOSS so I decided 15 dollars wasn't too bad, especially if the place refers to itself as a Mansion. They collected my hard working green and marked me with some sort of prisoner style wristband. This is where things managed to go from painfully average to slightly terrible. Having already lost my friend behind me due to their confusing airport-style checkpoints and his limited cashflow, another friend and I walked into what can only be described as a B movie dungeon. I guess this was the dance area because loud, abrasive music was playing and only a handful of attractive specimens were sizing up their potential dance mates. I clearly was not one of them. We decided to hit the bar. A jolly looking male who said very little served us two slightly chilled VOSS'. This was the highlight of my Mansion experience. I felt important for approximately three minutes. After scoping out the dungeon we headed up to another sector of disappointment. Three large males donning subpar black blazers placed another prisoner style wristband on each us before heading up to the outdoor side patio? area of the Mansion. No chandeliers were found here. Time was running out and so was our VOSS. My friend and I awkwardly and transparently navigated ourselves through a sea of hard-bodied women just to get to the bar. I stood approximately seven minutes at the bar waiting for service. At one point I caught the eye of a petite blonde bartender, but she decided her conversation with a fellow coworker was more important than doing her job. It was during this time I managed to reflect on life a bit. Instead of enjoying the moment, thoughts of suicide entered my mind because I wasn't good enough to be served at the Mansion. Was it my height? My powdery milky skin? My thin figure? It didn't matter. I wasn't up to her standards. As I was about to leave she finally decided to offer me her services. I inquired about the chandeliers which could be seen from the front of the Mansion but she appeared confused and disillusioned - like most of the people working at the Mansion. And that's when it finally hit me: The Mansion was not a place to go to have a good time, especially for painfully average looking people like myself; rather, the Mansion was a place where above average looking men and women flock to find meaning in their meaningless lives. It's a surface level entity where one-dimensional beautybots go to exchange surface level nothings. Beauty is clearly a currency at the Mansion and if you don't have it you don't belong. Maybe the Mansion is a metaphor for all the people out there that rely solely on looking good but clearly lack any sort of depth to their lives. It's nothing more than a safe space for Neon Demons. p.s. the VOSS was great btw. Excellent flavor profile. read more

THIS PLACE IS SO FREAKING FUN. So I'll be honest, I'm usually not a fan of uptown. It tends to be a bit douche-y. However, I've been to the mansion twice now, and both times I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. So what makes this place different? 1. The staff is great. Even though the place is on the classy end, no one is snobby! They all seem really down-to-earth, and friendly. The bouncers are actually nice and respectful. If you aren't wearing something appropriate, they will let you know in a nice way, and I believe they try to catch you before you've been waiting in line for too long. 2. Hookah. I love hookah, and there aren't too many places in MPLS that have it available. it's $30 for a hookah, but it's enough to share amongst a group, and it will last you a couple hours. The hookah guys come around frequently to change out the coals, so it lasts longer. 3. Good drinks, good prices. For the atmosphere, you don't pay a higher premium for drinks! Rail drinks are in the $5-$7 range, and are nice and strong. Currently, they also do not have a cover, which is really unusual for uptown. However, I'm not sure if this is because it's new, and they are trying to bring people in? Either way, I definitely enjoyed that perk. 4. The atmosphere is really chill and enjoyable! It's quiet enough on the patio to talk, but if you want to dance and get turnt, there's room for that as well. The music is always really good. Nice addition to the lackluster nightlife around town. I have high expectations for my nights out and Mansion was able to make me feel satisfied at the end of the night. Had heard some negative comments from a couple of friends about the place being douchey and sucky and while the first one was somewhat true, I enjoyed the place and had a great time. The place is phenomenal, with one big fancily decorated room. Prices are affordable for what you get. The DJ was decent, nothing that blew my mind up but he managed to keep the place pumping. It was also a good touch for the place to have some stand up tables where you can hang out without sitting down. Will definitely be coming back. Make sure you dress nicely! read more

This is a bit overdue, but I was at Mansion for the first time two weeks ago and not only is the decor super cool, the DJ was awesome, the bartender who makes the "cool breeze", knows how to bartend!!! And Everyone from Emmit, with security, to Jean Pierre, (the BEST Concierge/Host in Uptown),made this the one place my friends and I will definitely come back to. But the biggest "Thank You" is to Zach! Zach was the man! And kept me updated on the VIP status, and was just amazing and so helpful!! This place has one great staff! Went for the first time for the new friday latin nights. First weekend was good. Got in no problem. However the next Friday got denied by some mid 30's dirty blonde white guy (security I believe) talks in that annoying "hey buddy" voice.... so you already know this isn't gonna be good. Sooo entry for dress code. 'No shorts'. Which was funny cause week prior I got let in no problem (mind you it's mid summer). Went back 2 Friday's after that was denied again for wearing a black shirt with a tiny Nike logo on it. Went to the car to change to what they said was appropriate a button up shirt. Was denied again. In black jeans and a button up with dark tennis shoes. How ever Ive come to believe the issue is more than just dress code. I get the feeling this place is not LGBT friendly Although I think I'm gonna give this place another try soon. I didn't really enjoy my first visit because it was so scanty in terms of how many people were in there but everything else was great. Good drinks. Staff were reasonably nice. Very nice decor i must say. I could've sworn when we were looking for the ticket number for the car one of the guys outside (staff) muttered something like "Ah, its to cold for this sh*t". But who knows, he might've been talking to someone else. Anywho, the guy that spoke directly to us was cool about the whole thing. I was confused about the whole dancing thing. I like dancing when i go out on a weekend but here it's like everyone was shy or just didn't know how to get down. Couldn't really figure out a designated spot on the "dance floor" either. So i guess the next time i come here, i'm not going to put my expectations up on dancing and having crazy fun. I came here for my birthday with a big group. I love the decor (very Instagram worthy), but the music wasn't the greatest and it's not really a place to go out and dance. More of a lounge style place, with pretty much everyone standing shoulder to shoulder unless you have VIP. I'm not quite sure where to begin with this one other than THANK GOD THEY ARE SHUT DOWN! I've never had to deal with an establishment that had employees and management who acted with such a superiority complex. Their inconsistencies in who they would let into the club, often (read: every weekend) left particular group left out. It's a shame because when they first opened, the venue was fun and one of my favorites to attend. But over time, they slowly changed to becoming more selective in allowing attendance based upon appearances. I've made reservations for a large group of 25 people and been turned away because they did not want to admit one girl, I have had friends denied entrance because they didn't have laces on their shoes (who makes up these rules??) and then the next week because they had laces on their shoes. The list of reasons got whackier and whackier. Eventually Mansion didn't have enough revenue to stay opened on the weekends as a dance club. It's sad because the venue has potential and at one time was the prime location in uptown Minneapolis to be. read more

Last night was a friend's birthday and after a afternoon on Lake Minnetonka she had a booth booked for 15 people. The first set of us arrived at about 11 PM we had no problem entering, now keep in mind this was the 2nd time we've had issues trying to enjoy an evening. My friend had called and talked to the bottle service girl a few times in reference to the dress code but it seems that it always changing when you get to the door. The door staff was nice but whoever watches the camera decides if you get in with the thought of "he only lets in upscale" a friend of mine was turned around for having a button down expensive shirt and pair of blue jeans with slits and a pair of new sneakers on. We were told the slits were why he couldn't get in . After being seated in a booth that was designed for 5 people while a larger one was open the next set of people showed up and 2 of the 8 people were attempted to not be let in because their shirts weren't buttoned up, after a guy that we knew was at the door texted a picture of his shirt to "somebody in the building" they were let in. One of the guys that was being harassed happened to be my friend's Uncle and had plans of buying more bottles for our table but was very shocked and put off at the treatment. One guy that we witnessed at the door was forced to turn a small logo shirt inside out to get in. This long review is to state the obvious, as I looked around the patio I noticed that most of the people attending were some shade of brown, spending hard earned money but having to be harassed to do so. This treatment is uncalled for and I feel that You can't tell if a person is upscale do to the way do they don't bottom their shirt or what trend of clothing they follow . And a FYI I noticed at least 4 men with slits pants . I seen girls in flats when we were told you had to have heels and also seen a guy with a open shirt with a bare-chest. The dress code should apply to all and it shouldn't be geared towards discriminating against African-Americans, especially if that is where a lot of your money is coming from. And knowing and understanding fashion trends wouldn't & couldn't hurt! read more

This is a new club in Uptown and so far I like it, especially the outdoor area around the corner from the main entrance. My friend and I had table service here and the staff was very polite and respectful. I think they're going out of their way to make a positive impression on patrons. read more

This is probably one of the lamest clubs I have ever been to. When I went it was practically empty and all the management were jerks who take themselves way too seriously. I'll be pretty surprised if this business lasts more than a year or two. read more
