Took my work colleagues here at their request for dinner last night. Parking was plentiful for the time we arrived. Our server was Ricky, who was helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and also not rushing our table. We see each other rarely so there was a lot of talking. We were seated and greeted, ordered the chicken 65, the bread basket (all different types of naan), and rice chips came to the table with two different chutneys. The chicken was dynamite and the onion garlic stuffed naan was my favorite. Tough to stop eating when you start with such amazing apps. They ordered butter chicken, and I got the eggplant, which always has been a personal favorite. Here it was beautifully plated, had some heat, and also flavorful as hell. I had to stop eating after a couple pieces because I was heating up massively. The weather was gorgeous so the doors were open. I was dressed for work, so I was blazing hot. We sat and talked for a while, then decided to come back and order desserts and coffee. Mango creme brûlée and the pistachio ice cream looked great. I had a mango smoothie which was refreshing and not too sweet. Ricky told us it wasn't super busy so we could stay, which was very kind of him. I have been exhausted all week, lots of meetings and I'll be flying home tomorrow. But this is definitely a large variety of options for people to find what they like. Mantra is many notches above the rest when it comes to fine Indian cuisine. It is so well-kept and well decorated. Their cuisine is so delishhh. It is catching to all of your senses. You know you're some place special when you can smell grill/tandoor smoke. I can't begin to tell you what I like the best. Their lamb lababdar will leave you licking your lips. Lal maas is delectable. I never thought I'd have murgh kali mirch this good, right here in the good ol US of A. Top class biryani. Mango crème brûlée among the many fantastic desserts. Every single employee made it obvious that Mantra strives to be hospitable and attentive. They handle larger parties like champs. The food is very underwhelming. I got Soya Chaap and my husband got a chicken chaap. Neither of us liked our appetizers. Then he got butter chicken and said the chicken was not roasted, but boiled chunks. The food in general was pretty disappointing. The decor was pretty. The staff seemed clueless. The only Indian place in 10 mins drive from the office. With decent amount of Indian coworkers, we have ended up here quite a few times. There are lots of options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. My favorites are most with what goal/lamb curry and okra dishes. Do enjoy other dishes as well. The missing point is for services. The wait staff don't look like they enjoy the job. I stopped by this location. On my way home to supplement some leftover Indian food I had. I got some wonderful naan-the garlic variety was delicious. As well as some chicken biryani. We went here with great expectations on last Saturday for dinner. The place was Extremely crowded with a wait of at least 30min. There was a big chaos on the names and the guest list of people waiting. We got a table after waiting for 20 min. The service was pretty fast but the food quality was terrible! We ordered chicken 65 for appetizers and it was completely overcooked and dry!! It was very chewy. We had to send back the plate for replacement. Came here for Diwali ( Indian Festival ) special Menu. The ambience is phenomenal with comfortable seating. The waiter and the waitress were friendly and polite. Coming to the food, we were disappointed with the taste. We ordered their lemon soda ( sweet and salt ) and the mango lassi for drinks. Both tasted great. We also ordered from their Diwali special menu which had a good spread of starters, main course and dessert. All the three starters that we ordered from the special menu were supremely disappointing. There was no pistachio in the tomato goat cheese pistachio goaraki, there was no taste of pineapple or habanero in their pineapple habanero panner tikka and the paneer was hard. The chaat was more like a salad, there was neither the chutneys nor the sev as it is supposed to have. We didn't order their main course and dessert as we were super disappointed by the starters. My parents took me here for lunch - it's their favorite Indian spot! They drive here from the city because they love it so much. The space is beautiful - there is a nice partially outdoor area that is decorated in pretty flowers and has a very good vibe. We ordered the goat curry, yellow lentils, and paneer with spinach. All the dishes were very flavorful and complimented each other. It went very well with the garlic naan and basmati rice. The staff were friendly, but the service is on the slower end, so make sure you order quickly! The dishes are relatively pricey, but I will say the portions are pretty big, so it makes up for it. Anu, Sonali, Kasia, and the rest of the Mantra team made our wedding ceremony day truly special. We wanted to do a seated dinner which was not an easy task for Indian food. We were struggling to come up with a menu that would be elevated and suitable for a diverse group of guests. During our tasting, Anu helped us craft that perfect menu. In that process, we could tell that the team was focused on little details. She asked us about the size of the plates, the size of the tables, and the décor colors. She focused on how everything would look, how it would be served, the logistics behind each course, how fresh each dish would be, and even just which colors would be present on the dish. That attention to detail is something that our guests were able to pick up on. The food was also unique, differentiating itself from some of the more typical Indian dishes but still incredibly delicious. We were worried that not all guests would enjoy all the food because people can be picky, but we only heard praise and saw empty plates. Mantra truly helped bring our vision of a seated dinner similar to fine dining tasting menus come to life. However, that was not the only thing that the Mantra team did. They paid attention to our cocktail hour and the ceremony snacks, ensuring that guests had enough to eat throughout the evening. Anu also asked us a lot of questions about the general flow of the event, offering sincere advice outside of catering in an attempt to help enhance our day. She went out of her way to ensure that we could get a tandoor at the Chicago Botanic Gardens, something they had initially refused. We could tell that Anu, Sonali, Kasia and the team really went out of their way for us, and that made our wedding ceremony all that more unforgettable. read more

We ordered the assorted pakora which were delicious and definitely some of the best I've had with so much variety. We also ordered the methi paneer which was decent. The mango lassi was okay. For the entree we got Palak paneer, kofta, navrant korma, and daal. The Palak paneer and yellow daal are definitely worth getting!! The navrant korma was too thick of a gravy and a very sweet sauce, probably would not get that again. If you can't decide what bread to get, you should get the bread basket! My cauliflower taste spoil, only 1 rice came with $70 worth of food. I have order from many times and always received a rice with each entree. The food was horrible as well and okra burnt. The greenery indoors made me feel like we were in India again Would recommend for the aesthetics, relatively quick service, menu variety (GF/V/fish/meat/dessert), food taste and quality, and best mango lassi ever (gives Devon a good run). Would recommend ordering more dishes for larger groups as portion sizes are a bit smaller. Definitely check it out! I would totally go again with the fam! While in Chicago we wanted Indian food. All day when I was looking I didn't find anything that stood out then later in the evening I came across this on Yelp. This restaurant is kinda in a old downtown area. As you pull up it's a nice looking restaurant. We walked in, no reservation but were seated quickly. The restaurant is beautiful. We ordered the Dahi balla, not quite what we expected but was good. I would have preferred the fritter to be hot and some kind of crunchy something to the top. For our main entrees we had the baigan with curry, and the shaeer paneer. Both were good but very similar in flavor. We wanted the baigan bharta but he said they ran out. The eggplant was lacking salt. The food came out in a decent amount of time. The waiter was good explaining things as well. I would be back to try some meat dishes. read more

This rating is based on a take out order and was delivered via Uber Eats. The food is delicious here and I imagine it would be even better fresh right out of the kitchen dining at the restaurant. But even for take out I was very impressed. They got the order right except they didn't give me onions which I requested but it's ok. They also forgot to give us mango juice which we ordered. Knocking a star for missing a part of our order. We ordered: Buttered Naan as well as garlic. I prefer the garlic much better over the regular buttered naan. The basmati rice was cooked perfectly and each grain was separate and plump. We ordered Murgh Makhani (butter chicken), Murg Tikka Butter Masala (chicken tikka butter masala), Daal Bhukara Makhani (lentils), Lucknowi Chicken Biryani. We also ordered the samosa which were delicious. My favorites were the Murgh Makhani (butter chicken) and the Chicken Biryani. These dishes were well seasoned not bland. We asked for mild and even that it has a kick but was tolerable especially with the yogurt sauce. My husband loves the yogurt sauce. He's not a big fan of Indian cuisine but he loves this place and wants to order again. My only complaint is that the chicken pieces in the curries were huge. Would have preferred more bite size pieces. With delivery our total came out to $115 so it's very pricey for the amount of food we got. read more

This place is always a hit or miss. Sometimes with their service and food is so good and next time i get disappointed with it. This time both of the things- service and food disappointed me. I went there to celebrate my 40th Birthday. It was Tuesday - so not crazy busy but still they could not take care of their customers. Whatever we were asking about the dishes before ordering totally came opposite. We asked if the paneer tikka will be on sizzler hot plate, then server said yes. And when i cane in a regular plate and we asked, the manager said we don't serve anything on hot plate. Not to mention the paneer tikka were very below level of taste. We were 4 of us and when we entered, we asked for the end sofa seats and manager as there were 2 empty and manager said those are reserved and we seat guests there only a party of 6 and seated us at the entrance of main hall and outdoor seating. After sometime we saw that one of that seating was occupied by 4 guests and the 2nd empty sofa seating was never occupied till the time we were there. So not sure what causes all this. This place is always run by one man - not sure if he is manager or what but he is wearing same uniform like other servers. This time there was another guy in white shirt taking rounds. We complaint about all we encountered and he said i was not aware of this and will make sure next time it does not happen. So, i am skeptical now if i should be going there or not. read more
