This is located in downtown Elmhurst. You can find a parking garage nearby. You can park for free for 4 hours and it's minutes away from the restaurant. The restaurant is a good size. We ordered gobi Manchurian, mango lassi, Indian masala tea, Maharaj dinner special for 2, shrimp masala, lamb vindaloo, garlic naan, and tandoori royal platter. I've been to a number of Indian places and this place is the most generous with their food portions. Most other ones are not shareable especially for a group of 4. Prices are fair and competitive with other Indian places. Service was very friendly and attentive. The drinks are pretty good. I liked that they gave you a large glass for the mango lassi. It was creamy and flavors popped out. The Indian masala tea was good, it was savory. Fyi, if you want basmati rice you'll have to order it separately. Most of the Indian places I've been to in Illinois, you have to order it separately. Overall, I give it 4.5. -gobi Manchurian 4 - this one could pass off as a Chinese dish. If you didn't know it was cauliflower, it could easily pass off as chicken. -Maharaj dinner special for 2 5 - this comes with tandoori chicken, seekh kebab, fish tikka, chicken tikka, rogan josh, dal makhani, and sweet gulab juman. I believe the basmati rice and naan comes with this. The rogan josh is very good. The dal makhani is made up of lentils and kidney beans. I recommend using the naan and rice and eating it with the sauces. The gulab juman is a mildly sweet dessert if you don't eat the syrup on the bottom. -shrimp masala 5 - they put in some big chunks of shrimp which is great. The sauce is medium spicy but enjoyable. This one is my personal favorite. -lamb vindaloo 5 - the medium level does pack a bit of heat. It's still very good. Lamb cubes were very tender. -garlic naan 5 - we didn't know that naan also comes with one of the samplers. The garlic version went fast. I'm not sure what kind are the other ones but they had a nice buttery taste. -tandoori royal platter 5 - this is a good selection of different meats if you are new to Indian cuisine. It comes with tandoori chicken, malai chicken, chicken tikka, and seekh kebab. My personal favorites are tandoori chicken and seekh kebab. The meats are all well seasoned. The tandoori chicken is very tender and juicy.

The service was great. Very attentive staff. Street parking available. Option to have carryout, dine in, and I'm not certain about delivery. Inside: very relaxing and quiet atmosphere. The ambiance is very relaxing, balanced, and calm. The food... I had taj mahal beer. It's always nice, refreshing, and crisp Kurkurt bhindi (fried okra strips) were delicious. I have had fried okra at spots before but never in strips. Very crispy and flavorful. Goat curry...I had spicy. It was a pinch too salty for me but full of flavor and delicious with vegetable fried rice. The rice had cabbage, carrots, green onion and spices... Delicious I must say and light. It was my first time here as I live near kama bistro in Lagrange which is my normal go too but this place is a new option for me.

    Chicken Tikka Masala

Very solid for the most part. I had the chicken tikka masala lunch special. The chicken itself was just okay (slightly on the dry side). But everything else was great. Delicious naan and sauce. Good enough to come back but not my favorite Indian restaurant (though I'm no expert on the cuisine) so take my review with a grain of salt.

We visited Maharaj Indian Grill on a Sunday, and even though it was quite busy, the service was still top-notch. The waiters were really attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. We started with complimentary papad and chutney, which was a nice touch, and pretty tasty. For appetizers, we went with the veggie spring rolls, which were absolutely phenomenal. For the main course, we ordered paneer makhani with garlic naan. The paneer was delicious, though the gravy leaned a little too much on the sweet side for my taste, but still pretty good overall. We wrapped up the meal with gulab jamun for dessert. It was good, though nothing particularly standout. The restaurant itself is cozy--not too big, not too small. They've got some tables for larger groups and plenty for smaller ones, so it felt well-suited for any occasion. Overall, I'd definitely come back, maybe try something different next time, but the food and service were both solid!

Tried this place for lunch and it was very tasty. Give this place a try. I will be back soon

We enjoyed a very tasty takeaway dinner from Maharaj the other night. Our order was ready and hot when we arrived. I appreciated their generous portions of rice and the naan was exceptional. We shared the tiki chicken and the butter chicken, both mild to accommodate my 4 yo. I'd definitely go back- in fact, my MIL is planning to take her daughter and granddaughter there for lunch next weekend since she enjoyed our meal so much!

The food was flavorful and delicious, well seasoned. The service was attentive and very polite, well organized. The ambiance is relaxing and welcoming. It's a not a place to miss. Stop by and enjoy a little refreshing flavors.

You have to come here! The moment my partner and I walked in around 5 PM on a Sunday, we were greeted and quickly seated at a booth. The interior is perfect for a solo dinner, date, or big family gathering. The staff and owner are super attentive and made the experience very enjoyable. The best part was their food. We got the Lamb Vindaloo and Butter Chicken (basic, I know, but we'll be coming back to try more items). Everything was perfectly seasoned--I can't recommend it enough. They also brought out a free piece of seed cracker that I've never tried before and a couple of sauces similar to what you would get with a samosa. Overall, a great experience with friendly staff and delicious food. I am going to try to go during their lunch special next time. The total for our dinner with tip was around $50.

The space is inviting and comfortable, easy to settle into. Service was exceptionally friendly. We were warmly welcomed and had a lovely conversation with Sara, the owner, which added a personal and heartfelt touch to the evening. Our party of four included a vegetarian and someone with gluten-free needs, and both were accommodated effortlessly. Always a sign of a thoughtful kitchen. We started with Aloo Paneer Tikki and Papdi Chaat, both excellent. The tikki was crisp and satisfying, and the chaat had that perfect mix of textures and tangy brightness. For mains, we shared Chicken Vindaloo, shrimp curry, Chicken Biryani, Mutter Aloo, and vegetable fried rice, all accompanied by warm, soft, slightly crisp butter naan. Everything was beautifully presented, well prepared, and balanced in spice without overwhelming the palate. And then... the cocktails. My friend and I ventured into margarita territory, one spicy and one with ginger, both crafted so well that we immediately ordered a second round. No regrets. If I had one small wish, it would be for music that leans more into the cultural experience. A sitar in the background or even Bollywood scenes on the screens would add an extra layer of immersion. That said, the American music playing was tasteful and unobtrusive. If you're in the suburbs and craving good Indian food with warm hospitality, this is your place. We'll definitely be back.

Chicken curry tasted great, chicken biryani had good flavor except it tasted sweet which we did not like, and lamb rogan josh was a solid 4/5 (better than most). We ordered couple garlic naan and a cheese naan. Only issue I have is that complimentary rice should come with curries. This was not the case, but almost every Indian restaurant does this with the exception of a few. Good ambiance, nice wall decor. I'd order again.

The first thing I noticed was that there weren't many Indians eating there so I can't justify the authenticity. I like that they have a vast menu but let's be honest, almost every non Indian couple that came in that night most likely got either butter chicken or chicken tikka masala. The "safe" dishes that are very familiar to every American's taste. It's basically the orange chicken or cheeseburger of Indian cuisine. We are not Indian but I don't like getting the "safe" dishes. We ordered strawberry lassi, masala dosa, onion kulcha, chicken mugali, king fish fry, and payasam. I also want to add that you must order biryani rice separately because it does not come automatically like most Indian places. The service started out good when it was just us and another table. Then, it became atrocious when a third table came. Our waitress basically deserted us to talk to them for long periods of time. I wanted to order a dessert sooner. Then it took awhile to get some boxes and the check. For the service I'll have to subtract some stars. Parking is ample. Prices were fair. The food portions were huge. However, I'm not sure I'll return due to the service and the dried fish fry. Overall 3.5. -strawberry lassi 3 - not bad. I didn't really taste much of strawberry. Not as distinct as the mango lassi. -masala dosa 5 - most popular kind of dosa. Not spicy. It's crispy and has a potato filling. It came with tomato and coconut chutney -onion kulcha 5 - thicker and more filling than naan. They are stuffed with savory onions and fluffy inside. They have onions along with other stuff. -chicken mugali 5 - chicken was tender to cut and eat. The sauce is thicker and mildly spicy. I liked it. -king fish fry 1.5 - the seasoning is not bad. It was supposed to be crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside like what Chat GPT said. The result was it was kind of tough to cut and very dry inside. It kind of tasted like dried up fish sticks. -payasam 5 - classic South Indian dessert. It has some vermicelli and is not sweet at all. I think there are some nuts in here. It comes hot.

I was quite simply, blown away by how good it was. It's an immense travesty on my part, that I took so long to get back there (to be fair to me, we have so many fantastic places to eat around here ). Thankfully, said travesty has now been amended, and I'm overjoyed to relate, that 6 months on, their food is still exceptional! I even opted to try completely different menu options from my last visit, so as to better explore their offerings. They had a few things on special, and I decided to take advantage of those specials! First up, was their Chicken Bhunah (Bhuna?), which is apparently a North Indian curry dish. I lament that I don't know much about regional Indian cuisine, but! I DO know tasty, and no joke, this was up there with some of the tastiest food I've ever eaten. The flavor on this dish, was next level stuff. And I'm talking like, you already beat all of Dr Wily's robot masters, you've stormed his skull fortress, beat the Robot Masters a SECOND time, and now you're staring down that goofy-haired old man, face to face. THAT'S the level of flavor I'm taking about. It was the perfect blend of savory, rich, fresh, and perfectly spiced. It hit in that way, that only Indian food can. If you know, you know. The chicken itself was so tender, and having marinated in that delicious sauce, every single bite was sumptuous and inviting. I didn't want to put my fork down. It came with rice and Naan, and while both were great in their own rights, I'm not ashamed to say, that I could've downed that entire bowl like soup, that's how good it was. I ended up using the Naan to completely wipe the bowl clean Next up, I decided to pair my Chicken Bhunah, with something to drink... They happened to have their Irani Chai also on special, and that sounded great to me. I love Chai in pretty much every form I've had it in, but was unfamiliar with the Irani version. This, turned out to be a mournful ignorance on my part. That, was some of the very best Chai I've had. It hit all the notes I'd expect from a good chai: It was creamy, flavorful, and had a little complexity to it's profile. But! It also had the most earthy vibe I've ever had from a chai. It was kinda nutty, but not in a hazelnut way, or something more familiar. I couldn't place the specific nuttiness, but I know that I loved it. Not only did it give the chai it's own unique character, it added an extra layer of depth to the whole experience. It felt...fuller, than almost any Chai I've ever had before. Now, granted...I don't claim to be any type of Chai expert. Far from it. So take my Chai praise with a certain grain of salt. But! I'll say this for certain: it was some really tasty Chai, way above what I was expecting, and especially paired with the Chicken Bhunah, it absolutely hit the spot. It was the perfect accompaniment. The final item I gorged myself on, was their Mango Lassi. In past instances where I've had Lassi, it's been depicted moreso distinctly as a drink, but they cast it as a dessert, so that's how I treated it. I ended my eating experience by wolfing it all down, all while smiling the biggest smile This was a great way to cap off my latest Kabab Mahal outing. Not only was it super tasty and filled to the brim with delicious mango flavor, it's vibrancy and tropical punch, was exactly what I needed after such a flavor-heavy entree and drink. If it hadn't delivered on that mango in a big way, it would've been completely overshadowed by the Chicken and the Chai (Sounds like a 90s indie rock band ). Instead, the mix of sweet mango and tangy yogurt, perfectly blended to create an almost pallet-cleansing experience, that helped simultaneously lighten AND elevate the entire experience. It wasn't too sweet, it highlighted the flavors at play, and it was the perfect amount to not overfill my generous belly. My overall takeaway from my second visit to Kabab Mahal, was one of sheer delight, and continued excellence. Based off my initial run-in with their food, I had high hopes that this would be a similarly fantastic lunch, and my expectations couldn't have been met to any greater degree. Moreover, since I was trying all new items (to me), it was even more impressive, because it just solidified how phenomenal their overall menu is, and the level of skill and commitment to excellence they display. For a place that's situated in a strip mall, next to smoke and pawn shops, it punches well above it's surroundings (no offense smoke and pawn shops). What I mean is, for a place tucked away where it is, you'd could be forgiven if you didn't expect some of the best tasting food in the entire area. It's the optime of a hidden gem, and alongside some of the other phenomenal local spots we have available to us, we truly have to count ourselves as fortunate, that we've got su
