And since they're open 24 hours, I knew I had a good chance of getting something fresh. Let me tell you what I grabbed: Glazed donut Bear claw Sinclair donut BABY... when I tell you these donuts were hitting?! The glazed didn't even make it home. Not even out the parking lot good. You know how sometimes you bite into a donut and it's just... air? Dry? No substance? Not here. These were hearty but still light, fresh without being greasy, and that glaze? Soft and perfectly sweet -- not that dry, crackly, fall-off-in-your-lap situation. Just melt-in-your-mouth goodness. And that bear claw? Stuffed and substantial. They are not skimping on anything over here. The donuts are a really good size too. At $1.75 for regular donuts and $3.00 for the large fancy ones, it's honestly a steal. Now let's talk service. Peter is SO sweet. Great customer service, patient, and he'll happily explain the donuts, ingredients, and menu if you have questions. That kind of hospitality at 1AM? Top tier. I'll be honest -- I'm normally a Sunny Donut girlie... but "Honey Donuts" just took them down and took the crown. If you're ever in Santee and you want fresh, affordable, legit GOOD donuts any time of day (or night), give them a try. You won't regret it. Thank me later. You're welcome.

There was a lemon filled one that had an abysmal amount of filling, but the other donuts were pretty standard. My favorite was surprisingly the old fashioned one with chocolate glaze on it. I don't feel this place is particularly stand out in terms of donuts, but good for convenience sake.

I decided to stop in at 11:30 AM on a Wednesday morning after a Pilates class nearby. They donuts selection was kind of sparse. I should've taken a picture of the rack because most of the places were empty. There is also a Matcha bar that looks like it's supposed to be set up off to the side, but was not open. We picked out two beautiful donuts, the Chocolate Abuelita and the Cajeta. The Cata looked really nice, but was very plain tasting. The Chocolate Abuelita was definitely better and I liked the Mexican hot chocolate cream in the center. I would give this donut shop one more shot, just because of all the great things I've heard about it from people whose opinions I respect. Honestly, though, there are so many donut shops in town that if I don't find it better the next time I probably wouldn't return.
