If you want a quick bite, with delicious authentic Mexican food. This is one of the great places to come. It's a little hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant that has been here for decades. They have great options on authentic Mexican food, and you could also order takeout if needed. They have recently remodeled it, and everything is nice and clean and you. The staff does a really good job of upkeep in the place. The staff is really friendly accommodating, and they work fast and hard to bring out your food. I've been here several times in the past, and I usually get the menudo. It is always fresh, they bring you all of the condiments to put on it on the side. It comes with a side of bread with butter nice and toasted perfect for those days when you feel like a soup. On this trip we ordered the chorizo, well rancheros, and the Chilaquiles. They were all fantastic delicious flavor and me to order. One of the best parts about it is the beans that it comes with. Reminds me of being at my moms, or my Nanas house getting the beans straight from the pot and eating them. If you need a place to eat breakfast or lunch on the weekends. Make sure that you were ready to wait a little bit, they do get busy from time to time. But if you don't have a lot of time to order takeout and you will be very pleased with what you receive. read more

Every time I visit Tucson from LA i come to this joint for menudo. They serve two kinds, white or traditional red menudo with or without the corn. I dig the White pura carne no corn. Hands down the best menudo in Tucson or LA in my opinion. I buy two 1 gallon buckets. One to enjoy with my family here in Tucson and one to freeze and take back to LA to enjoy. read more

I arrived at this place and the parking lot was packed so a good sign; however, the parking lot layout is odd. The restaurant was very busy and it felt like I was eating in Mexico. I was glad to see menudo offered without hominy. It was my first time seeing white onions instead of green onions for menudo in the Tucson market. All other markets I've seen white onions. My meal started with complimentary chips and salsa. I wasn't a fan of the watery salsa. It was cool to see menudo with tripe only, but the broth wasn't too flavorful. Overall good place. read more

This restaurant also has groceries (canned goods, beverages, tortillas, bread,etc.). We tried a bean and cheese burro, carne asada burro, chicken quesadilla and a birria burro. The waitress and staff were friendly and fast. The food was just okay - nothing was great. The shredded chicken in the quesadilla was not very good. It seemed like almost every table was ordering the menudo (both red and white menudo / mostly red). So this place must be known for their menudo. read more

Jalisco offers a very inexpensive way to get some delicious tasting Mexican food. Their chile rellenos are tasty and their enchiladas have a wonderful rojo sauce along with being filled with Mexican cheese, not cheddar. You get a side of corn tortillas and all the chips you can eat. That's a good deal. The beans and salsa were somewhat average in taste but it's not a deal breaker by any means. The restaurant itself is pretty utilitarian in design with nothing flashy or colorful adorning the walls. Just a TV tuned in to some great Mexican soap operas that you can understand no matter what language you speak. Jalisco is also a little store and offers a nice variety of sauces and tortillas. Very good "family" style restaurant. Quality exceeds prices, the staff here make you feel right at home when dinning here or takeout. We just had our first experience here and we'll definitely be back soon! The tortillas are freshly made here and they are very delicious. We for sure recommend coming in to enjoy a flavorful meal. Pros: Very friendly staff, excellent chicken burrito, were very generous with sending us off with fixins' for our menudo (chopped onion, salmon colored peppercorns, lime, cilantro). Cons: Menudo was a dissappointment. We tried both white and red. Red was better, but white was bland, even with everything added in. Also the tripe was not prepared well, it was cut into chunks that were WAY too big, and some not even cut through all the way, so I would be trying to eat a piece of tripe, and would end up pulling up a whole string of tripe instead. My sister has actually made white menudo that tasted better and we're Polish! I would recommend for the buritto though, that was huge and excellent, that's what brought the 3 stars, along with the friendly service. read more

I left my DROID phone on the table (on Sunday, September 11, 2011) and an employee stole it! We were the last patrons there when we left and they were already putting the chairs up to start cleaning up. I called the following day to go pick it up (seeing as when I went back they were closed). I was told they DID NOT find my phone. Clearly, an EMPLOYEE STOLE IT. I'm VERY upset; I even offered a hefty reward to get it back so I could get my pictures back. No luck. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!! I am very picky when it comes to Mexican food so when a Mexican national made this recommendation I drove there and tried their food. I have rarely had better more helpful service and a delicious dining experience. So far I can recommend the cabeza burrito or taco, posole, menudo and the chile relleno is to die for. Their flan is very pleasant and not nearly as sweet as others so it's a fine dessert after a rich meal. The Posole and Menudo are served with either bread or fresh tortillas. You cannot go wrong either way. Please go there and support another fabulous local spot. read more

I feel like I eat here once a week because it is so good. Whether I want breakfast, lunch, or menudo/posole any day of the week with ALL the fixings, this place has it all. This is one of the few places I've been to that has menudo sin maiz, just the meat, along with the regular menudo. My regular Menudo-to-go spot, La Estrella, was out of Menudo so I decided to give Jalisco a chance based on previous recommendations. This place smells wonderful. It is instant happiness as soon as you enter. All of the plates I could see on the tables looked fabulous! I ordered both red and white menudo, and a dozen meat tamales. The menudo was not as good as Estrella, but it was still good. The tamales were great. Moist and a little greasy....Just the way I like them! We absolutely love this place. This is our favorite Mexican food in Tucson. The atmosphere is... like other tortillerias--but pleasant. The kitchen is very clean. But the food is why we come back every year. We're just some gringos, who hear it's good authentic Mexican--all we can say is it sure is good. The only minor bad thing to say is that it's easy to miss as the sign is practically camouflaged. (Just remember to turn at the "Tony's Auto Glass" sign. We'd drive by more often than not if not for a GPS device.) We've only been to six Mexican restaurants in Tucson, but Jalisco is BY FAR our favorite of them. Always great food and flavors... Come when its not super busy and you will have no complaints. But beware on Sundays its crazy but its the best menudo on this side of town!! We drive all the way from pantano and sabino canyon and consider it worth it. read more

Nice, unpretentious atmosphere, friendly people, average prices. The guy wandering around inside selling pirated DVDs was cool, too. Should have bought some... In terms of the food, Jalisco was fine. A three seems low, but a four would probably be too high. Their red menudo was very uninspired--it sure tasted thin and watery for having a lot of fat in the broth. Thankfully, it came with a heaping tray of limes, oregano, chopped onions, and chilitepins. The caldo de queso had a rich, deep broth, which almost redeemed the lack of ingredients in it. The asada burrito was a a little dry but otherwise good--the meat was exceptionally flavorful and well cooked. The clear winner of the meal was was the deliciously hear-clogging asada carmelo. You could feel it hit the bloodstream, half a ton of melted cheese perfectly complementing the steak. The tortillas were heavy and worked well with the carmelo, though you can certainly get better tortillas elsewhere. read more

Terrible service by a server named Josie. 11/22/2020 she was belligerent, aggressive, confrontational. She Insisted I had ordered red menudo when I had ordered white. Had an attitude, I complained to a manager named Joel and later she ( Josie ) came to the our table and said if that if I didn't like it for me to leave. Complained again to Manager Edward and I don't think nothing is going to be done. She needs to go.. never but never does one argues with a paying customer. read more

Sometimes you want some Mexican home cookin, Tucson's equivalent of southern soul food. Jalisco is one of those places. You sorta just want to sit and listen to people doing their jobs (preparing your food) and whatever banda or whatnot is on the radio as long as it's not that two-bit tramp you-know-who. Partial to enchiladas for some rib-stickin gooey food at Jalisco, they top with cotija or queso blanco instead of yellow cheese product like you can buy at Wal-Mart (at least yellow cheese product is not made in china -- yet). So if you are in a low-key Mex mood and want to relax a bit, this is a good spot. THREE & 1/2 to 4 STARS. read more

My daughter, Odette and I had lunch with other family members on Sunday, Sept. 11th. The menudo was so-so...not enough pieces of meat. My daughter forgot her Droid cell phone on the table and when she realized what she had done, she went back to the restaurant. It was closed. She called her cell phone and someone picked up, but did not speak and immediately hung up. BEWARE, DO NOT forget your cell phone, or anything else of value there. Obviously, they have some dishonest personnel working there. We called to speak with the manager but he is never there. We left messages for him to return our calls. Beans weren't edible. They didn't have lemons. Menudo smelled funny. Couldn't even finish my food.

New in town read the reviews and called to make sure they hade menudo. They said yes and I drove over, I ordered the menudo my Friend ordered a torta . When the menudo came it looked brown Watered down and had a horrible smell. I told the waitress and she took It away,she assured me that I would not be billed for my food but when the bill came she billed me $10.50 for the Torta when it was 5.50 on the menu. read more

The most authentic and tasty Mexican food. No chain food here, all real. Great soups to include Menudo Red and White. Very friendly, English is a second language here, does not matter. Great bakery and tortilleria factory as well. read more
