Today I called this business for the first time, and I am simply blown away (no pun intended). This is a "one man show" business (like mine is), and Courtland (the owner) wears all hats. Of course you must make an appointment (like most other gun stores since the China virus arrived), but I would imagine this is Courtland's regular policy, as is THE only guy. Although I have not yet purchased from him, this will be my exclusive gun shop from now until if or when I leave CA. As you speak with Courtland you immediately recognize that he is extremely knowledgeable (as you might hope since he IS the store owner), and he seems to be an extraordinarily straight shooter. If he had what I was looking for I would be there now to purchase it. But like so many other gun stores, his inventory is quite limited at the moment. However, Courtland is happy to try to locate the gun you are looking for with his 4 distributors, plus other websites like GunBroker.com, and he will notify you and order the gun the next day upon arrival. The majority of Courtland's customers seem to be in law enforcement, but he also sells to non-professionals (by appointment). When I asked him about the best personal carry semi-auto pistol he would recommend, he told me his first choice. However, when I NEXT mentioned that I MAY relocate to Arizona, he switched his recommendation to a different gun due to the fact that it could also receive a much larger magazine as compared to CA. He is also going to call all 4 of his distributors, and if they don't have one they will order it notify him once received. WOW! I have been looking for this particular gun for over 3 years, and have called numerous other stores, and this is the ONLY dealer who not only gives you the time of day, but in fact WORKS for you to help you to find what you are looking for. At this point I am happy reminded of what a similar store might look like back in Mayberry in 1966. I would imagine that this is the type of service I MIGHT expect, but never in these times! Later I picked up Glock's OEM 15-round steel magazines, not realizing the steel magazine release doesn't play well with them. One of the OEM magazines got completely stuck in the mag well. I tried everything I could think of and still couldn't get it out. I contacted several local gunsmiths, but none could take care of it in a reasonable timeframe or seemed confident they could free the magazine without damaging the gun. An employee at a gun store I frequent recommended Greta's. I had never even heard of the place before. I called, and Dave told me to come in and they would take care of me. When I arrived I found a great store with an impressive inventory. Dave and Danny not only extracted the stuck magazine, they also swapped the steel magazine release back to the polymer one I brought with me. They refused any payment even though I was more than happy to pay. They did me a huge favor -- I have to qualify with this pistol in just a few days. I'm extremely grateful. They failed to verify the serial number before transfer which is a fundamental requirement under federal law for proper firearm disposition. This is not a clerical error. It is a breakdown in mandatory record‑keeping and transfer procedures, the very safeguards designed to prevent misidentification, theft, and unlawful possession. Confusing two serialized firearms of different calibers underscores a serious lapse in inventory control. Any FFL that mishandles serialized inventory in this way is demonstrating a dangerous disregard for regulatory obligations. I strongly advise others to consider the legal risks before doing business here.

I explained it was our first time at this particular range and they explained everything and showed me the map before taking us all to the private range we had reserved. Make sure you go over the driving directions when you leave, as we had no mobile phone service once we got deep onto the dirt road. Follow the signs and you'll get there eventually. I wouldn't drive there with a lowered vehicle or fancy sports car as there is about 1.5 miles of dirt road you have to drive on that's a bit bumpy. Just drive slowly. I didn't check the selection of rentals they had on offer as I have my own toys, but I have heard it is better than most. We got a private range on a Wednesday and it was incredibly cheap ($100 for 2 people all day, $40 each additional person). They bring out steel targets for you to use and then leave you alone to have fun. You can draw from holsters, rapid fire, do drills, etc. No 1-shot per second nonsense, Their public rifle range has steel targets out to 1000 yards so you can see how good your skills really are. Lots of fun steel targets to shoot. You can finally stretch out your rifle and those high dollar optics. For the first time I wished my 6-24x scope had more magnification. I wish this range were closer but it was only about 1 hour from the Pasadena area which isn't too bad at all for 1000 yard steel. I believe it may be the only range in the los Angeles area that has steel out to 1000, as Angeles Shooting Range is maximum 600. I am definitely going to return to this place again soon!
