Wanted to share that we loved the care we received at Maple Family Dental. Not everyone accepts our insurance so it was wonderful finding a dentist who accepts it. And I was not 'treatment planned' to death, to make up for the insurance coverage! All recommendations seemed just and fair. THIS was huge for us! The office was pristine. And modern. And new! Parking is available on the street or there is a parking garage on the side, with spaces reserved for Dental Patients. Dr. Matt has excellent "chair-side" manner. And I appreciated that he lets you know what he is doing as he does it. The hygienist Annie, has a spunky personality and charismatic! Plus she does an excellent job cleaning. My experience with this dentist was anything but positive. I needed some work done and it had been a while since my last dental visit. I had a few cavities that needed to be filled and I wanted a new nightguard, since my old one was showing signs of wear and tear. I had 2 cavities that were to be worked on first - 1 on the upper left back molar, and 1 lower left. During the procedure, as the dentist was drilling on my teeth (I'm numb by this point), the cotton gauze he used got caught on the drilling tool. I didn't feel anything, as the left side of my jaw was numb, but the dentist said everything was fine. Everything was and is NOT fine. Whether from gauze issue or the work performed, I have been in pain since visiting this place over 1 month ago. Issues: * I am STILL in excruciating pain on the upper left molar whenever I drink something cold, and the pain lingers for hours. * The lower left tooth hurts if I chew anything remotely hard or crunchy and when food hits a certain spot on the tooth. I also have contact pain when I floss. When I went to follow up, Dentist said that I had all the characteristics of a cracked lower tooth and I would need a crown, but never took a bitewing to confirm. *Nightguard would cause extreme pain at night after the dental work. *Bite was off after the dental work, causing the whole left side of my jaw to be achy non-stop. I did try to go back to get this fixed and the bite was fixed slightly, but pain still lingered. Thank goodness I went to another dentist for a second opinion to view the tooth that I was told was likely cracked. My tooth is in fact NOT cracked. My bite has been fixed so my nightguard no longer causes me pain. Unfortunately, I still have the other issues with my teeth, both still cause me pain, and that will need to be resolved, but not here. I have never had such a poor experience with any dentist I've ever visited. I would NOT recommend this location or this dentist. read more

I first visited Maple Family Dental in a bit of a panic one morning. I was set to fly out on my first ever international trip on my own, when I woke up with pain behind my cheek. I was worried about being out of the country and potentially having some kind of dental emergency. I called a few different dental offices, and the lovely receptionist at Maple said I could come in ASAP, well before my flight. I met with Dr. Matt and after some x-rays it was determined to just be some sinus pain. This gave me the peace of mind to enjoy my time abroad to its fullest without fear of complications due to my teeth. Ever since then, I've been a regular patient at MFD, and I love everything about the care I receive there. Their new office is really nice and inviting feeling, clean but not clinical. Each room is nicely decorated and has a large TV with relaxing time-lapse nature videos playing. Also, the choice of music playing is always top notch, lol. Ane is a wonderful hygienist with great recommendations to keep my gums in great shape. Dr. Matt is always clear when talking about treatment plans and takes time to answer any questions. And the rest of the staff are always super friendly and efficient at their jobs as well! I highly recommend Maple Family Dentistry. read more

I have been with this dentist for many years. I never had an issue. I never argued or complained about anything. I have an appointment with them on May 21st 2025. On May 6th 2025 I received a text that said that my appointment is canceled and they assigned me to a new dentist. I was never offered an explanation,reason for the dismissal.No transition time, was not given a choice of a replacement dentist. Was just dismissed and assigned to a new dentist. No choice given. This is an abandonment of a patient. Guidelines say that the dentist need to give 30 days before canceling an appointment. As you can see, was given only 2 weeks. I am a Medicare patient and I think that the dentist realized that he is not making money with me so he dismissed me. I would not recommend going to a dentist that does that. read more

I was scheduled to get a cleaning in March and it had to be postponed when they temporarily stopped seeing patients due to Covid. Last month an old filling fell out and I had to go. They scheduled my appointment and a cleaning at the same time. I was really nervous about going as I'm rather high risk for Covid. When I went to my appointment they made me feel so safe! There were no other patients in the waiting room. There was ample hand sanitizer everywhere. They took my temperature and everyone was wearing at least one mask. The hygienist and the dentist looked like they each had on two masks under their face shields. They sanitized the chair and everything in the room. I'm so grateful for the good, safe experience. My mother recently went to Dr. Weller in Escondido for a cleaning and they followed none of the proper safety procedures. read more

A fifth star because my teeth were very nicely cleaned and polished. This all took about 30 mins. I was not sitting, waiting alone in a dental chair, for very long at all. I can't guarantee every visit will be so timely; things happen, I'm sure. I had tried another dentist in Escondido (Alarcon) and did not like the experience whatsoever. I visited Maple Street Dental Group on a Wednesday morning. The front desk women did not greet me. Shortly afterwards, the Hispanic dental assistant greeted me and told me what was going to take place during my dental visit. She speedily assisted me. I did not appreciate that she flossed my teeth fast because she did not perform it properly. Likewise, she rushed to put the toothpaste on my teeth, so all the "debris" splashed on me. Afterwards, the doctor greeted me. Again, he seemed to be in a hurry. He checked my teeth, gums and x-rays. He looked at my x-ray for 2 short minuets and told me everything was fine. He did not go into detail and explain my teeth or gums, so I asked a few questions which he answered. Lastly, he rapidly cleaned my teeth. Overall, my initial "encounter" with the receptionist was not welcoming. . In addition, my visit was rushed, so the dental procedures were not performed properly or comfortably. I will go back to my regular community clinic dental. They have higher volumes of patients. However, they take their time and explain everything thoroughly. Needed a new dentist after cost and dental plan support with our previous office. Wife knew she had work that needed to be done, so it was important to find the right person who would support our dental plan (Delta) and jump right into that work. PROS: 1. Very friendly staff from the receptionist to the assistant to Dr. Wegrzyn. 2. Small, quiet office in old Escondido. Not a strip mall or busy medical complex. 3. Dr. Wegrzyn is straight-forward and efficient. My filling was much more comfortable than at other offices, due in part to the speed. 4. Small-town feel, a stark contrast to the chain dentistry companies and large offices. The actual dentist did the work, not an assistant or "resident" dentist. 5. Supported our plan without debate about what procedures should cost or trying to upsell work. 6. Take credit card payments. CONS: 1. Scheduling was a little tough in November 2014 (maybe due to the small scale of the office), but you need to email your request or call during very specific times/days. Nearest appointment was a few weeks when we got through to scheduling, so plan ahead. 2. Older office with older furniture and fixtures. 3. Small lot between two small buildings, near a school, makes for a bit of a parking challenge. It also wasn't really clear where the front door was (2nd door on North building). I had my first appointment with Dr. Matt at the beginning of April, and I absolutely love this place! The office is super clean and absolutely adorable and calming. The staff is super friendly, and the Dr. is super straightforward about your treatment plan and what is needed. He doesn't try to "up sell" you like a great deal of other dentists I've been to. I got my fillings done last week, and it was super pain free, and it was FAST! I was in and out in less than an hour. Most places have a packed waiting room, but not this place. They get you in and out and don't make you sit around forever waiting to be seen. I really love this dentist, and will definitely be back and have recommended them to all my co-workers, family, and friends. But the best part was that the Dr. didn't bullshit me. I went to another dentist who diagnosed "four cavities", but Dr. Wegrzyn gave me the real deal and told me I actually only had one. When I went back to get the filling, he was gentle and talked me through the procedure with a lot of patience and confidence - and I tend to get really nervous! I researched prices, and turns out he gave me a pretty competitive deal. All in all - great Dr, great place.. I'm never stoked about going to dentist -- I have a bad gag reflex and most every dental hygienist I've seen has treated me like an annoyance. Dr. W's staff were really kind to me and even tried some tricks I'd never considered to help my gag reflex calm down. The doc's teeth cleaning was really thorough -- my smile felt clean afterwards. They use a water-pik type thing to clean your teeth, which felt a bit weird, but really worked. He applied a solution that made my gums feel healthier too. We had been using a different dental office for many years (nc family dental). My husband would refuse to go because the dentist at that office was very rude. Not only that but she made him not want to come back to see her. We keeped that insurance for about two years. Yet, he needed to continue his dental work. We then changed dental insurance and also dental office. We have been with Mapple Street Dental for over 2 years now. We love this office. Dr. Matt and Annie, as well as all of the staff are great. They never fail to make you feel comfortable. They do great work. First let me say I have had a lot of bad dental work, many dental nightmares and am terrified of going to the dentist. I needed to go, I knew I had some work to be done and a crack in my front tooth. I let Dr. Wegrzyn and his back office staff know of my fear and they could not have been more accommodating. I have never been treated so nice with such care and empathy. Not even at so called we cater to chickens dentists. The office is clean and bright, the staff is friendly and professional. Dr. Wegrzyn does not try to up sell you, he works within your budget and lets you know what can and cant wait. I have bad TMJ pain and he worked really hard to correct the previous dental work I had elsewhere to help even out my teeth. It has already made a big impact in helping the pain. Matthew Wegrzyn, DDS is the owner of Maple Street Dental Group in Escondido, California. I don't know all of the staff names, but every one of them are well trained, knowledgeable and courteous. I have been going there for a couple of years. Usually, my cleanings are handled by Annie (or "Ane"???), the dental technician and Dr. Wegrzyn handles any dentistry procedures that may be needed. Both are friendly and pleasant and make you feel at ease during the appointment. AVOID THIS DENTIST: I just got the most HALF-ASS cleaning I've ever gotten in my life. At my previous dentist, the hygienist would spend an hour cleaning my teeth. I don't usually write reviews, but I feel I need to write this one. To be very honest I have not been to the dentist in 10+ years (don't tell Dr W). I was really scared to see a dentist after a bad experience I had the last time I went (many, many years ago), but my tooth broke and the pain forced me to make the leap and find a dentist. I search the Internet, read all the reviews I could, and settle on Maple Street Dental (mostly because of their great reviews). I'm so happy I found them. Dr Wegrzyn and the staff were all so kind and understanding of my fear, they never judged me for my laps in dental care, they just wanted to get me going again. Dr W was so great and made it very clear what need to be done and answered any questions I had. After we took care of my broken tooth, I needed a deep cleaning, which made me nervous, but it was easy and painless.
