After a bad experience with another dentist, I was referred to TLC by an oral surgeon over 13 yrs ago. I needed a female dentist and someone who wouldn't get mad at me if I had anxiety. I no longer fear seeing the dentists (well, just there). Dr. Reyes & Dr. Madrigal are amazing. I saw them at Costco one day, and they said Hi to me first. They are very kind and genuine. We were in the exam room for only a few minutes before we were informed that the dentist refused to work on my daughter as "she wasn't the kind of person that he works on". I asked about the money we had already paid and was told that we would receive a check in the mail. I started sending my son to TLC about 14 years ago. I'm not sure of the changes that have been made but it doesn't seem to be run by the same people. We mad appointments for my son he goes to college in a different state so he needs to get he teeth taken care when he is home. So far my son has had two appointment to have things done and they have messed up his appointment saying that they need more time or didn't get the correct person to do the work. I have to say that TLC Escondido Dental has made going to the dentist as pleasant an experience as possible. I had a bad dental experience in the past and stopped going to the dentist but then I didn't really have a choice but to go to the dentist as I was in pain and my past dental work was going awry. Dr. Cutler was sincerely caring and nurturing as she accessed what was going on and developed a very thorough treatment plan to get my mouth back to good health and looks. The office is state of the art while at the same time being warm and homey. They even have warm fuzzy blankets if you are cold. Now that's comfort. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Cutler and the whole staff at TLC Escondido Dental. I always feel well taken care of every time I visit. Dr. Cutler is very caring and gentle, and always concerned about how I'm doing, even going above and beyond to reach out to me and find out how my treatment is feeling after the fact. I recently got some fillings done there, and the whole procedure went very smoothly and a lot quicker than I expected. Also, I have a bad habit of chewing the inside gums of my cheeks, and although it's not usually even a conscious thing, other dentists in the past have made me feel absolutely horrible about it. Not Dr. Cutler, she was completely sweet and understanding. I wasn't made to feel ashamed or bad about my oral habits at all, which helped me to relax and feel completely comfortable. I am probably THE worst dental patient. I hate to admit it, but I was about 8 years overdue for a dental check. Going to the dentist is something that causes me great anxiety. Going in, I was a bit nervous, but the staff at TLC was very competent and caring, and there was not one bit of judgment from anyone about my prolonged absence from the dental care scene. Instead, I was given quality care with lots of explanation and a plan to move forward. About halfway through my visit, the admin received confirmation that I was out of network-thanks to my confusing EPO vs.PPO plan (kids, know your insurance-don't be like me) and informed me, thankfully I have flex spending, so we continued with the exam. Dr. Barakat gave me helpful referrals to further my care, and for the first time ever, I was not completely mortified about my oral health, and I actually am excited to get things taken care of. After the visit I stopped up front to pay my bill (by the way, I did notice the courtesy discount-thank you!) and the front office staff was helpful in making sure I had all the info I needed for referrals as well as the contact info to have my visit notes and X-rays sent over to whomever assumes my care since they are out of network. It was an all around pleasant experience, and needless to say, when open enrollment comes around again, I'll be switching to a PPO dental plan so I can come back! Dr. Barakat is my dentist here. She started with Dr. Cutler a few years ago and it has been great. I need a gentle touch since sometimes I get nervous. No nervous jitters here, been smooth sailing. Dr. Barakat is very thorough in her examination. She explains the process and why she is doing what she recommends along the way. I feel that the more I know and understand, the better at ease I am. Dr. Barakat is very attentive to how my post procedure progress is settling out. She will follow up to make sure that I am not experiencing any discomfort and that the outcome is as expected. In addition the staff here is very nice and friendly. They seem to do very well with kids too, each one goes into their appointment readily and happily. read more
