Honest neighborhood donut shop bringing you the softest donuts in town. They have the fluffy, nostalgic donuts you remember eating as a kid and not the ones you get at places like Krispy Kreme's. The service is always great, they are always nice and accommodating. My kids all want their own bags and let's not begin with them always changing their orders - the people there are always patient. There are seats in the back and I often times see parents there with their kids before school or a few elderly folks hanging out with friends, over a donut and coffee. Very friendly and warm place. Highly recommend if you're in the area. They changed management a few years ago and I'm happy to say they have kept the same warm service. This is hands down the best donut shop in the Almaden/Blossom Valley area. It's clean, the donuts are fresh and the girls that work there are always sweet. I will say, though, that I'll stick to weekends. There are various weekdays where they must have a different donut maker. Those times, the donuts are just a heavy overcooked oily mess. I try to peel off the outer layer and wrap in paper towels to absorb the grease, but it doesn't work. Greasy taste and left always with a tummy ache. Been going to Maple Leaf Donuts for years and will miss Mary. Recently went for the first time under new ownership and met a nice woman behind the counter named Tia, who was very friendly and efficient. She accurately assembled my 1 doz donuts in a new flat style box, not the pink tallish square box I was so used to all these years. It''ll take some getting used to, but the advantage of the flat box is all donuts are now easily displayed (& accessible) when the box is opened - vs. being tightly slotted sideways in the pink box. All the donuts looked the same visually - which is a compliment to the new donut maker. I can't speak to the taste of the dozen donuts as they were given as a gift. I did order an apple fritter & old fashioned for myself - compliments to the current donut maker, both tasted like Maple Leaf Donuts - I'll need a few more visits to confirm for consistency of the product, but it seems they're following the previous recipes, techniques & process. Also the new owners put up a couple of flat screens that display all their menu items. A solid 3.5 Review for Maple! Enthusiastic! I found this place when I met with a friend in the Almaden area, I love how this center has a little bit of everything. Missed the name but, there are tons of locals and families in the area. That's definitely in my realm so naturally I am pretty comfortable to be there. I noticed Maple and we sat in there little courtyard with some tables and lawn chairs, which I thought was pretty sweet. Everything was spaced out for comfort, that was the blueprint for the layout as the furniture was bolted into the cement, not for covid I assume. Anyway.... As far as the food and caffeine I thought was standard, which is perfectly ok I think for a local spot. I got a iced Vietnamese coffee which was partially prepared in a refrigerator and a banana walnut muffin with some extra donut holes. The Iced viet espresso was ok, kinda flat in taste and kinda soft on the caffeine. Something similar to 7-11 prep which is ok. The banana bread nut muffin was great tasted fresh and didn't crumble just perfectly sweet. The donut holes of course were amazing little zingers too. In summary as an experienced coffee drinker, I just do have a preference for cleaner tasting coffee and a muscular caffeine draw. That's perfectly ok. Why a 3 1/2 rating? The croissant was packaged well, flavorful, had a buttery and flaky crust, and was all around delicious. I would definitely try this place again for the breakfast sandwich. Sadly I was given the wrong order for my second donut but they did throw in a couple of free donut holes so I assume that they were out of stock of what I wanted. We have been buying donuts from Maple Leaf Donuts for over 20 years, though we stopped going there several years ago as our children grew older. Now that we have a grandson, we have an excuse to start buying donuts from there again. We were very pleased that the same freshness and quality is reflected in the donuts they make today, with much the same offerings. My favorite is the chocolate-glazed donut, though if you are visiting for the first time, I recommend starting with a regular glazed donut, which is, in my opinion, the best way to judge a donut establishment's freshness and quality. In any case, it is fortunate that we are buying donuts from Maple Leaf Donuts.
