As a former massage therapist myself, I get pretty picky about places I get massages. The challenge is, I don't find high priced spas necessarily that much more skilled, so I try to support local joints. Maple Spa in Mission Viejo looks like an ordinary strip mall spa, yet the owner, Coco, always greets with a smile. It's is nicely decorated, clean, and NONE of that funny business you may get in other strip mall spas. I'd highly recommend Coco and/or Tiffany for their soothing Swedish massage to help with circulation. They do take walk ins, but it's always best schedule ahead of time. Coco is the best. Always very accommodating and attentive. If I ask for my shoulder to be focused in, which is always, she does. Some just move on after a few minutes which is frustrating. I have been a patron of Maple Massage for more than 6 years. I am a 75 year old dissabbled Veteran who needs a proffessional theraputic massage of my entire body. My body is as tight as a drum from multiple accidents. Coco the owner only hires top notch staff and there is no funny business like some local shops.. I work nearby so I often call last minute and they always are able to accommodate which is awesome. Been here so many times for the full body 1 hour massage and love that they have private rooms. It's nice and quiet and the staff are always so nice. I've tried almost everyone at this location, but my absolute favorite person to go to is coco/koko? I have swelling amongst my body due to rheumatoid arthritis and usually have very stiff body/feet/shoulder/neck. After hearing about this place from a few people, I decided to try them out this past Saturday...I wish I didn't. I was already hesitant to try this place out because I'm 9 months post-op back surgery. When trying to call to make an appointment, it kept going straight to a voicemail, so I decided to drive by since it's not too far from home to make an appointment. They got me in the same day, 20 minutes later. I was in the first room, which I don't recommend because you hear the dogs next door and any noise from the front desk (microwave door slamming shut and opening/starting). The sheets in this room smelled like cigarettes...I'm sensitive to the smell and deal with bad migraines so this was not enjoyable. I didn't get the name of the lady who did my massage, but I did not enjoy it. Her technique was brutal...She would do a certain way on one side but not the other, massage one hand but not the other, and didn't do my neck at all. She used her fists way too much, and I even told her to please stop using her fists. I woke up the next day with BRUISES! Not cool. They were super lovely ladies, but this place isn't worth $60 + tip for a poor, no-technique massage that left my back covered in bruises. You've been warned. read more

I called and made an appointment with Tiffany. Tiffany is great. When I showed up they tell me Tiffany is on vacation. Fine! I went with another person they recommended, Angela. Angela left her phone on the table I was lying on and it kept buzzing throughout the session. This was very distracting and took away from relaxation I was hoping for. Initially I thought it was my phone that I left in my purse. Additionally, she seemed unfamiliar with the pressure points and massage was more painful than relaxing. She tried so I give her credit for that. But the phone part. So unprofessional! I left the place more annoyed than relaxed. Not the experience I was hoping for. read more
