I really wanted to like Maple Street Biscuit Company, but it ended up being just... fine. The biscuits themselves were honestly underwhelming. For a place that's built around biscuits, they were overpriced and just okay at best. They weren't bad, but definitely not something I'd go out of my way for again, especially at that price point. I also tried to order a simple egg and cheese biscuit without meat and was told they would still have to charge me for the meat anyway. That felt a little ridiculous and not very accommodating, especially for something that seems like it should be an easy modification. The coffee was fine. No complaints, but nothing memorable. It did the job, but didn't stand out in any way. The one highlight was definitely the smashbrowns. They were crispy, well seasoned, and easily the best thing we ordered. If anything brought this up to three stars, it was those. Overall, it's not a bad spot, but it didn't live up to the hype or the pricing. This is going to be our new weekend spot. I love coming here with my honey as he enjoys the food and it's filling to him and me. The food is wonderful , I tried the classic biscuits and gravy with an order of fried green tomatoes and it felt like I was at grandmas house. Gravy was delicious and very creamy. From the moment I walked in, the staff was so friendly and helpful that I briefly considered asking them to help me make better life decisions too. The breakfast tacos absolutely rocked. These things did not just have flavor, they burst with it. One bite in and I was wondering why I ever bothered eating breakfast anywhere else. The latte was smooth, rich, and delicious enough to make me momentarily forget all responsibilities for the rest of the day. And then there are the biscuits. These are not just biscuits. Brunch out with the Fiancé. We wanted to try Maple Street Biscuit Company. I ordered Chix & Waffles, Fried Green Peppers & a Peach-Berry Lemonade. It took only 5 to 10 minutes to get the order. Just here to say that we still love this spot! I got the retro plate this time because I was craving some classic breakfast food, and everything that came with it was delicious. Finally had the chance to check this new place out in Hamlin. As a southern boy, biscuits are kind of a big deal to me. Sooo happy I did. This fast casual place has an open air aesthetic that is both quick yet inviting. You can order at the counter or online via the website. Just make sure you choose the right location as there are few throughout Florida. We decided to grab some staples to see just how well this place can craft a breakfast. The squawkin goat biscuit sandwich is basically a chicken biscuit sandwich with fried goat cheese that is served with a sweet pepper jelly. This thing was so incredibly good. The chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The biscuit was flaky, buttery, and delicious but didn't hold together well. Not a very big deal at all. Pro Tip: Dip into the jelly!!! You're welcome! 9/10 for me! The tacos were pretty basic. Street tacos with potatoes, egg, and a protein. We did one sausage and one bacon. The sausage was much better than the bacon, but both held to what you'd expect of a breakfast taco. 8/10 for me. Overall, 9/10 experience from food to service. After a couple of disappointing experiences in a row, I hadn't returned to this Maple Street Biscuit Company in over a year. However, this past Sunday, I had a friend in town, so I decided to give it another try for a "fast" breakfast before heading to the Disney parks. All of the employees we encountered were super friendly. Best of all, our breakfast came out perfect -- fast, fresh, and hot. And the self-serve coffee in the pots was also piping hot. I ordered the Squawking Goat biscuit sandwich, along with a side of smashbrowns. The smashbrowns were so flavorful from the spices and accompanying Ranch dipping sauce. And the sandwich had to be eaten with a knife and fork because it was sitting in a pool of pepper jelly, and I didn't want to get my hands all sticky. First time at this restaurant and location. We loved our experience from the moment we walked in. Right away we were 2nd in line. Fortunately we had time to check out the menu. They have a great little stand when you're in line that holds the extra menus. The counter service was quite pleasant. I ordered a Retro Plate with a biscuit and jam, eggs scrambled well done. (Done perfectly). My husband wanted just eggs and bacon and was able to order the way he likes with extra eggs. And we had 2 cups of coffee. A reasonable total $. This started our experience off with two happy customers. They did ask that quirky fun question - ours was "what is your favorite app"? My husband said "I don't know, does solitaire count?" There's a beverage area where you get to fill up your cup of coffee from a great selection of various brews. We stuck with the basic black coffee. We found our spot at a window seat and waited until our "name" was called and they brought our food. Our food was delicious. Loved the smashed browns. So good. Bacon was crisp as requested. Yum! I have tried 2 locations in the past and the St. Augustine location seems to be the best. I was hoping to give it another chance after having a good experience years ago. No complaints about the service however, the food is not worth the price. I had the five and dime and ended up eating it without the chicken, and the gravy. The texture of the gravy didn't seem very gravy ish, it wasn't very fluid and it was too thick. I'll give the biscuits themselves some credit but you can get nearly the same at chick fil a. You order at the counter and they give you your drink and a table number. We ordered the chicken and waffles and squawking goat. The chicken and waffles is a large portion. Enough to share for 2. The only thing that threw me off was the cold syrup. The squawking goat was a flavor bomb, the deep fried goat cheese mixed with the chicken & pepper jelly was delicious. The biscuit was fluffy. We have been waiting for this to open, watching it being built and waiting for something new and exciting in our area. We went for a quick breakfast but not so quick! This just opened near by and it is BUSY! If you plan on going make sure you are prepared to wait. This place surprised me as I thought it was a server sit down type place. It's unique where you order like a quick service, grab a seat and then someone brings you your food. They have tables inside and outside. We ended grabbing two seats at a much larger table that a few teenagers were sitting at. I couldn't decide because the menu all looked so fabulous and I wanted something quick so I got a biscuit and pepper bacon. My husband ordered a bowl which included potatoes, peppers and onions and ham with two fried eggs on top. Gravy is extra if you want it. There was also a nice layer of melted cheese under the eggs. This was fabulous and he enjoyed it and I loved it! I would 100% order this again for myself. My biscuit is made fresh on site and came with butter and housemade jelly which I believe was raspberry. OH MY GOSH! This was the best biscuit I ever had, you can taste the freshness. The jelly was fabulous and I was covering the biscuit in the jelly. The bacon was peppered, sweet salty spicy it was everything. I loved it and could have eaten a handful of them. My only issue is the wait and how they bring your food. Some people they call the code you give them. The question this week was favorite band. We had the same answer as another lady and she was faster grabbed our bag and it wasn't until my husband said wait that's ours that the staff checked the ticket for the table number. Finally decided to try Maple Street Biscuit Company for breakfast. Got there a little before 9am and there were only 2 other tables dining at the time. I ordered the Squawking Goat and a soft drink and paid around $12. Instead of taking names for your order, you had to tell them your "favorite holiday dish". Sounds cute but you'll see why this doesn't work. I waited for my food for about 10 mins and while I was waiting the employee kept yelling "Mashed Potatoes"! After about 4 call outs they switched to calling the number, which since we all had numbers on stanchions on our table not sure why they need to call anything out. The lady who ultimately received the order said oh, I thought someone ordered mashed potatoes. See, cute idea but calling out a food name in a restaurant, may not be the smartest. They brought my food right to me without calling out a food item or a number. My plate was drowning in some sort of syrupy substance which I think is what they call "pepper jelly" as I had no jelly on my biscuit. The Squawking Goat is fried chicken with goat cheese and pepper jelly on a biscuit. I assumed since I waited 10 mins, that meant I was getting fresh, hot food. That was not the case. The biscuit and chicken were warm at best, definitely did not appear to be freshly cooked. Honestly the biscuit was dry and based on taste, texture and temperature, I would think it was a reheated biscuit from another day or frozen, as it did not taste like a fresh biscuit that one would assume they would get from a biscuit place. The chicken was fine. It was a large portion with good breading but also not hot.. You had to eat it with a fork and knife because of the "jelly" all over the biscuit and plate. Maybe that's the intention; but as a southerner who has had plenty of pepper jelly, it was a surprise. I didn't complain because it wasn't bad, maybe my expectations were too high. All in all, was it bad? No. But was it good? Not really. Honestly for the price I paid, to get a mediocre biscuit at a restaurant with that in its name, I would really have to think about going back. I'm a big fan of the Maple Street Biscuit Company and am glad that they opened this one in Hamlin. My favorite item is the farmer which is fried chicken, bacon, cheese, and apple butter on a biscuit. All the sandwiches here require a knife and fork. Do not try to eat any sandwich here with your hands as you will be in for quite the mess. It is sometimes difficult to get the correct ratio of toppings, but when you do...*chef's kiss* The five and dime is the same thing except take off the apple butter and sub in gravy. I like this one too, but for some reason the apple butter just really works for me. They have a kids menu and my son is a fan of their waffle. I do wish that the kids waffle or kids eggs came with a piece of bacon. It would really help round out the kids meal. They also have a nice selection of coffee and tea here. They frequently ask you a funny question rather than taking your name for the order. I really like that and it adds a touch of whimsy to breakfast. Who is you favorite superhero for example? The food is absolutely delicious! Since this was our first time we ordered like Gordon Ramsey, a little of this a little of that. But the food was exceptional. The biscuit gravy comes very close to mine. It is not salty or watery. The Potato OBrien bowl was delicious with the right amount of onions and peppers. I must start by saying I am not a biscuit person. So I had been hesitant to give them a try but we decided to this afternoon for lunch. We came in and grabbed some menus to decide what we all wanted to eat. They have a children's menu but my 9 year old twin boys decided they were hungry and wanted to order off the regular portion menu. My one son is a vegetarian so he ordered a sweet grace (chocolate chip waffle with fresh strawberries). He inhaled it. My other son ordered the Five and Dime. This sandwich was HUGE! He loved it but it was way too much for him to finish even though he did eat a lot of it. My Mom had the pepper onion and cheddar frittafle. She to couldn't finish hers. I had the chicken strips and the potatoe chips with syrup on them is my new addiction. OMG delicious. It came with a biscuit and I did like the crunchy outside but my mom and one of my sons devoured it and said it was amazing. We shared the fried green tomatoes and while they could have been crispy they were very tasty even my boys that usually don't like them loved them. The buttermilk ranch is delicious. We also shared an order of smash browns. These were fried to perfection. Maple Street Biscuit opened this week and they are slammed. The line to get in was long and stayed that way during my entire stay. The staff was in constant motion. There were plenty of mistakes made during my visit....Some an inconvenience to me and some to the business. If this rough period is going to upset you wait a couple of weeks before stopping by. Give them a chance to work it all out. On the plus side ....My vanilla and maple latte was perfection and I loved it. It was not overly sweet and the flavors were balanced so that I could taste everything. The shiitake gravy was delicious.
