After doing an Internet search for restaurants in or near Vineland, I discovered there are only 3 or 4 worthy of being called "classy". Why Chinese take-outs and McDonald's are listed under "restaurants", I'll never know. Parking was plentiful, and since the parking lot was loaded with Cadillac's, Lexus', Lincoln's, etc. I should have been prepared for the prices. Old-time decor, complete with an average diner's age of 65+ showed that your dining opportunities are very limited in this area. The steak was good, as were the broiled scallops. Salad was huge, and most was sent back/wasted. The drinks were well served, but pricey. Drink at home first, and you won't have the sticker-shock we got when the bill arrived. The server was quite friendly, but definitely more geared toward an older crowd, as we had to beg for additional drinks. Not worth the time or the money to visit. The building itself is outdated and they charge outrageous amounts for something I feel I could get at red lobster (and I can bet you red lobster would do it better). We went tonite for sons birthday dinner and the food and service was over the top. My wife had broiled seafood combination and we both had broiled stuffed lobster tail and the food was very delicious with a great taste and portion size. I would highly recommend and we will go there again. At the end we all had coffee with a desert and that was fresh and enjoyable. Very unprofessional and rude hostess. I was told there was a 1 hour wait, which is fine..I completely understand...however, while I was discussing the waiting time with my family...the rude hostess said, "You can eat your chocolates while you wait" So not classy of her... I used a Godiva bag to hide the gift I was going to give my husband when he arrived to the restaurant...... I didn't stoop down to her level...so I simply said "no thanks"... and walked away.... This place has the best food and the best chefs. Everything is fresh and tasty. I tried just about everything here and I never left disappointed. The servers are nice and treat you like family. Went there for a birthday dinner. There were 8 of us in total. When the waiter I asked for separate checks and he seemed like it was a big deal. The menu is overpriced in my opinion. I got lasagne with a fra diavolo sauce. The wait was long and everyone was served except the birthday guest and when there dinner came they substituted mashed potatoes for their ordered baked potatoe because they ran out . My lasagne had a ring of oil all around the plate but I ate it anyway. It was OK but the next 24 hours I had an upset stomach and the runs. Another guest got a wedge salad which was drenched in watery dressing and had a tiny tomato cut in fours and placed on the edges of the plate. We told the waiter it wasn't good and he never apologized nor offered to take it off the bill. I later ordered a beer but was given a different one and I asked the sever why and he said they didn't have the other one, so I guess you get what they give you with no choice. The restaurant is dated inside and needs a facelift and the tables and seats are uncomfortable and too close to other diners. I definitely don't suggest this place , it's a shadow of its former self. read more

I absolutely love this place! The food was so delicious. My steak was perfectly cooked and it was worth the price too (it was around 25 for a filet mignon, so it wasn't super expensive). Not only that, but the bread was addicting and so so good! I could not stop eating it. The service was downright amazing, Eddy is the nicest waiter I have ever had. I decided to go here for my anniversary. I was always wondered by seeing how packed the parking lot always was. Now I am slightly confused. When I arrived we were seated pretty quick. Our waiter was beyond amazing. The food took a while to get out and our drinks too quite a while as well. I ordered a salad, and a steak. My man ordered a Lobster Brisk and a seafood combo. The salad was normal and probably would be a better choice than the expensive steak. The steak was bland and over cooked. The waiter offered to take it back but I ate it anyway. I was not willing to wait hoping they would get it right again.I filled up on the bread that they brought. I got to try the Lobster Brisk and that was AMAZING. I have never had a better Lobster Brisk. I would order this and only this next time. My man did not think that the seafood was not the best for it's price but was not too bad. My meal was of poor quality. I had gift cards two Christmas $20.00 gift cards that they refused to allow me to use. They said they were only good after Jan.1,2017 and excluded Friday and Saturday dinning. The gift card giving to me by a friend was for $100.00 good for use anytime. We spend $38.00 dollars for two dinners that were marginal at best. I told the waitress that I was unhappy with our meals and wanted a refund of the remain balance on my gift card. The owner refused. I told him, I would not be back to the Maplewood III because of the poor quality of food, that was why I wanted cash back for the remaining balance of my gift card. The owner continued to refuse my request for my money back. I lost over $100.00 because of this denial of the owner. I will never go back to the place. I ate here for thanksgiving and had a 6pm reservation for 5.While me and 2 others had something other than traditional turkey dinners two others came especially for the turkey.As we ordered the waiter said that they had run out of turkey.The two were disappointed and ended up getting a meal they really did not want.As we finished our meal the table behind us that had gotten there way after we did received there meals and behold they got two turkey dinners.When we asked the waiter he said he wasn't sure what happened so we spoke to the manager.His story was that they had a large table who pre ordered their turkey dinners but when they got there and ordered two of them ordered something different hence the two extra dinners.We thought at least he would take something off the bill or buy us a drink but he just gave us a half hearted sorry.So bottom line the food is ok but don't go here for the specials because obviously there is no communication in the kitchen.The Maplewood III will not see the five of us again.They need to upgrade the outdated menu for the prices they charge.The seating is very cramped and it is not a good place for children at all.Also the decor is very old and the place has a dark 70's feel to it.If you want a great meal go to the Franklinville Inn in Franklinville, that place makes this place look like McDonald's.Bottom line for what you pay is not what you get in food quality. read more

You can tell they have a tradition of using fresh ingredients and good quality here, but I get the impression that this is a case of a great restaurant that is complacent and starting to drift away from attention to detail. Well I certainly did not expect what we got at Maplewood III this time. It has, for years, been one of my faves when I come back to visit Vineland. My mouth was watering for a good Italian dinner. I ordered cheese ravioli and my friend cavatelli, both with the meat sauce which was so badly burned it was terrible. We ordered clams casino for an appetizer which we never got. I ordered 1 meatball and 1 sausage with my meal and never got the sausage. Just barely mediocre, a real disapointment. This is probably the most upscale restaurant you will find in the area. I like most everything about this place. Food is great, staff is friendly and the interior a couple of years back underwent some renovations. The reason for 4 stars & not 5 is because there are a couple of peeves I have. The first thing that bothers me about this restaurant is that is a Italian restaurant yet they do not have garlic bread. I really enjoy garlic bread with my tomato & pasta dishes, who doesn't? And the other reason for giving it only four stars and not five is because of the chairs at the bar. They have long outlived their usefulness and don't belong an upscale restaurant like this. They look like something that should be at the curb on trash day. We are regular customers and have been going there for many years. I guess I'm done waiting for the owner to come to the realization that the chairs are no longer comfortable or useful so now I need to shame them into getting new chairs or have those re-upholstered. Recently we patronize another favorite of our restaurants only to find they changed out all the bar chairs and they were no where near as bad as these ones are here. So come on mister Maplewood owner do something about those bar chairs and when you do I will change my rating to 5 stars read more

I have been a customer of this restaurant for many years and have always been pleased with the food and service until recently. I made a reservation for Easter Sunday(well in advance) for a party of 20. The reservation was confirmed and there was no mention of seperate tables at any time.When we were seated I was informed by the hostess that our party was going to be seperated and that the manager had informed me beforehand. NOT SO! When I told her that he had not done so she became argumentative and unreasonable. I was told by other patrons that she was sneering and making faces behind my back. VERY PROFESSIONAL! This set the tone for the dinner and we did not enjoy our Easter celebration due to the errors and behavior of the staff. I called the manager later in the day and he continued to insist that I was told of the seating change. I would never had agreed to this. A party of 20 is a party of 20! I cannot believe that Howard Esposito would condone the this type of behavior from his staff. read more

For many years I've heard wonderful reviews about this restaurant. So, when I finally had the opportunity to visit, I anticipated an excellently prepared and flavorful meal. To my dismay, the meal was slow to arrive, tasteless and not as described on the menu (the menu listed the dish as Spicy Hot). The waitress was gracious enough to return the dish to the cook. After many more minutes, the waitress came back out with the dish announcing that the cook prepared a new spicy hot sauce for the pasta....Once again, the dish was tasteless and definitely not as described. Politely, the waitress did ask if I wanted to return the dish and order something else. By this time, I had lost my desire to eat anything else they might prepare. I can honestly say that the waitress was polite, courteous and accommodating. But let's be honest, we go to a restaurant to eat a WELL-prepared meal....not to socialize with the waitress. I would not recommend spending your hard-earned cash on what I would consider is a one-star restaurant. read more
