Delicious, personalized service, including a full vegan menu (you have to request it). This is a favorite among my family.

The food, service, and prices are amazing. It's very relaxing and quiet. It is BYOB. The bread pudding is delicious!

I…read morekeep ordering it because I love this pie and I make it myself during holidays but it is quite a labor. The spinach feta filling has become increasingly stingy and lacking of the proper seasoning, the ratio of filling to phyllo dough is way off and The phyllo dough has been so tough that I have not been able to cut through it even with a sharp knife I threw most of it out. I hoped that the problem would have been corrected or the cook was just having some bad days, but the same problem three times in a row over the course of the last year.It is the last time I order this dish at Olympia, I believe it may have been microwaved! The Greek salad, a signature dish also has been lackluster, while ingredients are fresh and crispy, the dressing over the years has a watery and thin consistency with Hardly any evidence of Olive oil, and for a thirteen dollar salad only ONE stuffed Grape leaf Dolma!, only two small bits of tomato and , yes I counted them, four calamata olives and no anchovies! This makes me sad as it used to be my go to restaurant. Very disappointing.

Let me start out by saying that the place itself is not much to look at and the furniture could use an update. It's decorated nicely inside. The service was ok the night we went and it's usually better. They had a huge birthday party (about 15 people) that took a lot of their time. However, the reason to come here is the awesome food. They bring you out three dips and pita for dipping. Each one if fantastic. For my meal I started with the salad topped with Mohammed's spiced vinaigrette. The dressing is so good. For my main I got the Egyptian Flounder with veggies and couscous. It came with a side of tahini to put on top if you like to. The Flounder was moist and delicious. The veggies and couscous were also very good. The portion size is incredible. The attached picture shows my meal, WHEN I WAS FULL AND MY MEAL WAS FINISHED. It came with two big flounder fillets. My wife got the crab bisque as a starter and scallops with lobster sauce for her main. I was able to try both since we had so many leftovers. The crab bisque is probably the best I've ever eaten. My daughter got the salad as well and the lamb stew which she really enjoyed.

Within minutes the place was packed. Isot is a popular BYOB, and for good reason. Their food is delicious. The five of us started with a mixed meze platter which had a sampling of spreads: eggplant, garlic/yogurt, hummus (chickpea), spicy tomato & pepper salad, Slavic potato salad and of course pita bread. My husband, daughter and I shared the mixed plate for two, which was plenty for the three of us. We ate beef kabobs, Chicken Adana (my favorite), chicken thighs, Turkish meatballs and lamb kabobs. Served with the most flavorful salad, sautéed vegetables and rice, the mixed plate is a great option if you haven't zeroed in on something specific. No corkage fee, helpful and pleasant staff, casual unhurried vibe .... I love this place!

There are some stellar, multidimensional reviews of Zahav on this site - for example, Bunker B's…read moremagnificent contribution.. I urge you to read that for an comprehensive, informed description of Zahav's place in the culinary scene. Here I offer a more quotidian review, with the emphasis on practical tips. I am going to cut to the chase: the pomegranate lamb shoulder is the stuff dreams are made of. Tender and tart. Accompanied by sides that are a work of art in themselves: fluffy Persian rice with a perfect crust. Greens with the right amount of sweet and sour to balance the other two components. The composed dish beautifully thought out and executed. And a little extra pickle just in case. Zahav has commissioned a red wine specifically to accompany the lamb, so be sure to order the Galia Dabouki if you get the lamb. Now for some practical suggestions: unless you have a hearty appetite, do not attempt the four-course menu. You will fill yourself on hummus, salads and dips and mezze, and by the time you get to the star of the show - the pomegranate lamb shoulder - you will barely have room for more than a few bites. I suggest you go a la carte, and pick wisely from the first two courses. I am even going to be heretical and suggest you skip the hummus. Yes, I know Zahav's hummus is famous. Maybe you can pick some up at Whole Foods to eat at a different time. Even the salatim - as masterful as they are - have by now been reproduced at other Israeli restaurants that have caught up to Zahav's Israeli avant garde. So if you ask me: pick from the mezze list and go on to the lamb. And about getting reservations: if you are a planner, go ahead and snag a reservation by going online exactly four weeks in advance as the website explains. But if you want to be more spontaneous, you can get a seat at the bar as a walk-in. You do need to arrive early for that. The day we were there - a weeknight in July - the line started to form a little before 5pm, that is, a little before the restaurant's opening time. Everyone in the line at that time got to be seated, and there were still plenty of spots that only gradually filled up. No doubt on the weekend you would need to get in line a bit earlier, but it is entirely possible to do this without an advance reservation. So now I am looking forward to taking my own advice. I am plotting my return, and going in for the star of the show, the hell with opening acts.
