I had a great first visit here! I met Vincent and he was the so nice and struck up great conversation! He kind of gave me some background on the shop and what it used to be and what it all entails now. I tried one of the chocolate samples and am really excited to take my mom to Maps because she'd love all of their chocolate! And not that I didn't because what I tried was reeeeeally good! I also have to go back to try that in house made vanilla syrup for my next latte. However, the seasonal brown sugar cinnamon was amazing! I am so happy that I stopped in here! Great first time and definitely not the last experience. Upon walking in, the owner Vincent, welcomed me in with a warm greeting and smile. He has everything set out beautifully on display from beans to all of the wonderfully packaged chocolate bars. There is seating through out the shop consisting of great comfy looking chairs and couches. He was so kind to give me a back story of how he started out making bikes in the shop and branched out and began roasting his own coffee and making his own chocolates! He gave me the best espresso bean recommendation based off the type of espresso machine we own (Breville Barista Express) and we are so excited to pull some shots now. He also enticed me to trying some excellent chocolate, could not say no to buying the white chocolate bar! I love white chocolate around the holidays so it's perfect. I also tried the Milk blend pour over and it is incredibly smooth. I am already looking forward to my next cup of it! Give this place a try! read more

Located in Downtown Lenexa, Maps has more of a home-y feeling. I ordered a caramel latte, but there wasn't anything special about it. However, they do have something special that they offer. Two words: edible coffee. Maps Coffee has figured out a way to solidify coffee with a hint of chocolate and yes, it's revolutionary. The coffee is great! 5 stars. The service is lacking. I order decaf coffee - I love the taste but my body/heart can't tolerate caffeine. On several occasions, the staff has laughed at my order and been outwardly annoyed an order for decaf was placed. I understand being curious why someone orders decaf for health reasons, but not laughing at them and announcing across the room to a teammate that "another decaf" was ordered in a laughing and condescending tone. Needless to say, I won't be going back! I will buy from a coffee shop that is inclusive and sensitive to my health needs. read more

I saw that another Yelper was impressed and I enjoy sipping on a hot cup of joe for my ride home in rush hour traffic so I stopped by. It was an excellent latte from an eclectic coffee shop that formerly housed bicycles. I sampled a couple pieces of their chocolate and was I impressed with the richness and texture. I had some MAPS Coffee at my daughter's house this past weekend and immediately fell in love with it!! Wasn't sure about heading out courteous of Covid19 . She said he would ship it very quickly. She wasn't kidding ! Ordered online around midnight on a Sunday night, and my Maps Kenya Windrush arrived by noon on Tuesday with a complementary Maps mug and and yellow post it that said Enjoy! Talk about attention to detail! He has just made a customer for life! I actually broke my " no caffeine after 10am" rule and promptly made a cup! If I can't sleep tonight.... it was worth it!!!! Best damned coffee I've had in a really long time!! If you are in the area , definitely stop by! Out with the Velo+, in with the Maps. Can't say enough good things about Vincent and company at this old Lenexa location with a new name. The bike shop is gone, most notably so Maps can focus on what they are known for, coffee and chocolate. Maps never used to brew cups for folks wanting a java pick-me-up. Now they'll brew you up at pour over if you have a few minutes to spare. They are, however, known for their awesome selection of prepackaged beans just to the right of the register when you walk in. Everything about Maps is homegrown, unique, and outstanding. Vincent's knowledge of beans and roasting temperatures ensures a perfect bean every time. I've bought dozens of bags here over the last two years and can only really say I didn't like one (darn you Especiale - you were too dark of a roast for my liking). Try a guest roaster class if you're interested in creating your own Frankensteined blend of bean. Vincent will walk you through every step of the process and give you an education at the same time. I'm back here regularly every 2-3 weeks or whenever my bean supply runs out. I'm a loyal Maps shopper and can't imagine drinking another local brand every day. read more

The only thing I would change about Maps is that they would be open all day everyday. This is not a fancy cafe to sit for hours with your laptop and eat avocado toast. This is their office. You can watch them roasting coffee and making chocolate. However there are tables and games. I came to purchase coffee beans after having Alma Mader's Tamper beer collaboration with Maps. I had to have the coffee. Along with coffee beans you can purchase their house made chocolate or Yummylicious cookies also local made. Vincent is a world of knowledge in the coffee world. He wants good coffee to be accessible to everyone. He only charges $14 a bag and if you check out other local roasters you will find this is a steal. He spent about 30 minutes walking me through the pour over process I can do at home. Unlike other shops that take 5 minutes to do a pour over his is about 2 from ordering to delivering. And I am here to tell you it was the best pour over I have had. I am not sharing though, go visit Vincent if you want not only the process but what to buy. Watch Instagram for classes they will be offering as well. This is truly a local gem in Lenexa. So many people came in to buy bags of coffee while I was there and he knew every one of them beyond just a hello. read more

Fantastic! A craftsman and connoisseur at work! All roasts of beans. Interesting chocolate bars. If you love chocolate covered espresso beans you might try the coffee bar squares. Artfully presented. I have bought a lot of small "treat" batches but f coffee from Maps. Recently bought a legit espresso machine and grinder so I've been on the hunt. Have tried many of the top Italian beans that the machine people sent (probably 10 or more. Also been gifted espresso from most of the local 3 rd wave roasters. This pandemic has allowed us to experiment and probably single dose 5 or more drinks a day for over 2 months so we have had a lot of tastings. My conclusion is Vincent and Maps are roasting world class blends. Milk blend and Ethiopian are faves for brewing, but espresso blend is out of this world. It is what I would call traditional blend and roast. Smooth , chocolatey, nutty and rich. I'm not a fan of the light fruity sour roasts, this is not that. Perfect alone and superb in milk drinks. Might as well just get the big bags, you will be back read more

Such a great surprise! We stopped by on a whim and were completely blown away! The coffee is delicious, every cup is brewed fresh. The owner is very passionate about his business and providing the best products for his clients. In addition to wonderful Coffee they make chocolate from scratch.
