    Combo rice plate

I was only in town for a week and had to stop in to try. The food is DELICIOUS and quite honestly the value can't be beat. The rice plates are huge and easily serve multiple people/multiple meals. On top of the amazing food the owner is the nicest person. I'd highly recommend, if I lived in the area I would be in all the time.

Glad to have a reliable halal chicken place even closer to me than the one in Claymont (which is owned by the cousins of the folks who run Maq's). Like NY Gyro Grill, Maq's has fantastic kebabs and "over rice" plates with delicious grilled meats and flavorful rice pilaf. The portion is super generous for $12, possibly enough for two meals (or definitely one big one). The service is really friendly and they'll make sure to load up your food with whatever veggies or condiments you'd like. Everything is really fresh--they'll often ask you if it's ok to wait an extra minute while they cook it fresh for you rather than serve something just heated up. Felafel, chicken, and lamb have all been great. The seating area is clean and comfortable but I usually get takeout. Closest I can come to a complaint is that I wish they offered some more Afghan items like qorma or veggie curries. I mentioned this to the cashier and he said they do have occasional weekend specials--I'll have to come in and try it!

Tastes good and inexpensive. we order takeout few times. Unique taste of the desert and great seasoning of the meat and taste

Delicious lamb over rice! Takes me back to when I lived in New York. Fast efficient service as well

Had to come by here after seeing the reviews online. Visited Wilmington for a job interview at ChristianaCare and just had to try it out. Went for the lamb over rice AND the cheese burger. Met the owner Zahib, great guy. Super nice and provides great service. Loved the food. Wasnt able to take a photo of the cheeseburger since I inhaled it in 1 minute, but got a photo of the lamb over rice with the works (everything including sauces). Loved it all. Next time I'm back, imma get more of the hot sauce :P. Thanks for providing great service and food. Will be sure to come by more often if we move to the area.

The food here is pretty similar to NY gyro in Philly pike. The prices are fair and the portions are generous The little mixed vegetables always makes me feel less guilty about eating greasy meats piled onto a bed of greasy rice Today was my first time getting the fried fish, pretty good. I will add that to my regular rotation now They food is made fresh but is done so quickly. The salads are precut so you can point to what you want The guys at the grill are nice and friendly I'm glad we have a lamb over rice place in the burbs now, I'm never driving to Philly pike again

The lamb over Rice was excellent and the service was top notch. Very chill environment with a welcoming vibe. Very good portion of food for the cost!

I got the #2 chicken tikka

The food was absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh. Since moving to Delaware, I haven't had anything quite like it. You could truly taste the herbs and spices in every bite. I also really appreciated the owner taking the time to come out front, introduce himself, and share the story behind the restaurant while educating us about the meal. It made the experience even more special. The portions were generous, and in my opinion, the prices were very reasonable for the quality and amount of food. I'll definitely be back!

Dinner and a show, I'm down! The show was good, but the food was just fine. Everything leaned too sweet for my liking. Our group of 4 got the $30 each 7 course family style meal. Spicy (not even that spicy!! (2/5 spice level IMO)) chicken and the eggplant dish at the beginning were my favorite dishes.

From the outside, it doesn't look like much; in fact, it looks like a bit of a dive from outside. But when you walk in, you are transported. The design of the restaurant is so special - community tables, pillows, tapestries, waterfall features, tiles, and belly dancing. The food was a little inconsistent. We shared many dishes: Bastilla (baked layers of filo dough, eggs, chicken, almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar); hummus (chickpeas, tahini, crushed garlic, lemon juice, sprinkled with paprika and olive oil, served with pita bread); Spanakopita; salad trio (eggplant salad, cucumber and tomato salad, and carrot salad); lamb tagine (stew of lamb, onions, and roasted peppers topped with honey and served with rice); Moroccan chicken with harissa cumin sauce; mujaddara (cracked bulgur wheat cooked with lentils and caramelized onions); and mint tea. I wish they didn't serve bottled waters, and the food was mostly good but not the most consistent. Our mujaddara wasn't served with the yogurt sauce listed on the menu, and the lamb with the tagine was incredibly fatty, making some of it inedible. The mint tea was really really really sweet - like syrup! I also wish the bastilla had a little less powdered sugar (I like on the dish, but it was A LOT of powdered sugar), and it was quite dry. But the eggplant salad, carrot salad, hummus, and mujaddara (even without the yogurt sauce) were great. I would happily have eaten just those dishes. They were busy - it's a popular place - but service was also a challenge. It took us almost a half hour to get the check and pay. I had to ask for the bill twice and then it still took a while to get it, for it to get picked up, and for it to come back to us. It's pretty bad if I'm considering walking up to the bar to get the check and pay. I loved the ambiance and the character. I loved that you can't tell how amazing it's going to be inside when you see the outside of the building - it's a surprise for sure. Our experience was that the food was a bit inconsistent, but it certainly was a fun meal.

Merion Park Labneh: this labneh is thicker than other restaurants which I really like actually. the photo I insert may be deceiving, as it looks chunky. rest assured, it's absolutely smooth, just a thicker consistency than most labnehs. the spices on it are so so good. I think this is a must get along with a hummus. me and my sister are vegetarian, we share a hummus and a labneh and are decently full after those. we also snack on some small plates for the table (fries and olives) and leave full. Israeli Pickles and Olives: comes with two ramekins filled with varying sized pickles, not pitted olives, and some tiny yellow peppers I *think* are either pepper-chinos or at the very least taste similar. they also come with a small ramekin for the olive pits. The yellow peppers are very spicy, but I loved them. the olives are green, and i'd consider them friendly olives for those who are particular around olives. pickles were great as expected. French Fries: easy order for the table. portion is large and I think $8 is a steal for the quantity and quality. comes with a yummy ketchup my sister loves (she is considered a ketchup hater). COCONUT MALABI: I did not know what to expect. and honestly, first bite I was a bit confused by the texture, but by the end, I really liked it. its a thick pudding consistency, smooth, has a decent bounce to it, not too sweet at all, subtle coconut flavor. has a strawberry (I think) jam situation on top with some sort of crunchy thing. will be getting that again for sure. we had three people split this and it was enough. would consider getting two for four people though. service was quick, efficient, and kind. love the atmosphere. it has a sort of lively fun vibe to it. also we were in and out pretty quick without being rushed at all which is nice. just efficient. Also, I haven't tried them yet but they have a good little mocktail menu for those who don't drink!
