    Not a deep dish.

I ordered a deep dish. What i received was not deep dish. Very skimpy on the toppings. We've had much better from this place! I also ordered online at 5:38 pm. The site said it would be delivered between 6:45 and 6:55. It arrived at 7:30! Almost 2 hours from when I placed the order. Not sure what's going on but they need to get it together!

Is Main Street a mainstay?…read more Word-of-mouth brought me and my dad to trying this place out on a cold and blustery Saturday morning. He had heard good things and I had heard the same so we figured to see what we thought of it. It wasn't too busy when we arrived and we were told to take a booth to our right. We sat down to a half-full but bustling restaurant. We got our menus and drinks promptly and started poring over the menu. My dad went with his usual country fried steak skillet-style meal and I went with a basic stack of pancakes and bacon. The vibe of the place was a generic blend of diner and family restaurant. Nothing really stood out to me that was unique besides this US Veterans table we were next to. I didn't get to snap a photo as they just cleaned it off and were about to sit down another group of people that just walked in. The waitress brought out our food and accidentally brought us a muffin instead of my bacon but was super quick to swap the two. Looking at my food and the price I paid and looking at my dad's food and the price he paid, I was instantly jealous he got so much more food for about the same price. The pancakes were large and plentiful compared to some places I've been and the bacon were long strips and not shriveled up and almost cooked too long. So why the mid rating? The waitress and staff overall weren't all that friendly. They weren't unpleasant by any means but the friendly chatting and banter you normally get at a restaurant was lacking here. There didn't seem to be a lot of mingling and cohesion to the staff that you see at most other restaurants. It was weird and if not a bit mechanical feeling. I'm not the most extroverted of people but a little bit of banter or chatting with the server is usually a plus. But most importantly is the food. How was it? Serviceable. The pancakes, even with the butter spread on it and plenty of syrup, were lacking a big punch of wow. Granted, it's just pancakes but I'd prefer to eat pancakes at a restaurant that don't feel like something I can make at home. The bacon was super tasty though. Just a bit disappointing that 3 strips were $3.99. My pops said he enjoyed his meal but it wasn't anything to write home about. I did try a small chunk of his country fried steak and it was decent, if not a bit overly crunchy/burnt on the steak portion. Overall, not a bad time with my dad but I just wish my meal wasn't lacking that punch for $12. I'd definitely come back and try a lunch item to see if that provides the oomph that eating out provides versus eating at home.

Review Visit: March 2nd, 2016…read more If there is an earthquake, this place will be playing 52 Card Pickup. My girlfriend had mentioned Tyroni's quite a few times as a place she wanted to try and we finally found the perfect time to go. It was a cold day and we needed something to warm us up. What better than pizza to warm you up and put a smile on our face. We arrived to an empty parking lot. I was certain the place was closed for the day. As we milled about outside trying to see if the place was open, I snapped the selfie above and then we proceeded to try and enter the restaurant. As we were walking in, a waitress was coming up to us to ask if we were okay. We said we were, we were just trying to figure out if the place was open or not. She said we just missed a crowd and had the place to ourselves. Perfect! My girlfriend and I like similar things, so it wasn't too hard to pick out a pizza. The unexpected thing happened when we went to place our order. They had a special of buy one, get one half off. We took them up on the offer and we both ordered our own pizza instead of splitting one. This let us get exactly what we wanted without compromise. Perfect! We did order some breadsticks, so we munched on those while we waited. As with most appetizers, this was a bad ideas a breadsticks tend to be a bit filling. The waitress slid our two pizzas in front of us as we regretted eating so much of our appetizer. We did leave room for pizza, thankfully. Having two full pizzas placed in front of us meant that we were going to go back home in a food coma, for sure. Slowly but surely we worked on the pizza. We sampled each others pizza and agreed that getting our own was the right choice. I liked hers but was not food envious for once. The pizzas were pretty tasty. I don't remember being amazed by it but at the same time, it was exactly what I expected for the price. That happy middle ground between frozen store bought pizza and gourmet. And you know what, that was perfect for what we were needing on this day. We actually came back a few weeks later to get more pizza but declined the second pizza for half off. We had too many left overs from the first visit that we knew better this time around. The second trip was equally as decent as the first one. We knew what we were expecting and Tyroni's delivered on just that. There is a cool aspect to Tyroni's. They have a ton of playing cards embedded in the ceiling. I am sure I asked our waitress about it before but the meaning behind it is long forgotten. Still, a pretty neat thing to see while sitting. Though with my short attention span, I found myself getting lost in looking at all the cards. Tyroni's is a great stop if you need some pizza at a decent price and a decent taste.

Waited in a long line since there was only 1 cashier to prepay for gas (the card reader on the pump I parked at wasn't working) and she put it on the wrong pump, and then I had to wait in a long line again to get it corrected. While I was waiting that second time, a mother came in with her young autistic child and someone had been mopping the floor of the whole store even though there was a massive line of customers waiting. The child slipped on the floor because there was no sign in that first aisle right after you come in, and got hurt. When the mom asked why there was no wet floor sign, the employee/manager in a tye dye shirt yelled at her and said there were wet floor signs in several aisles and blamed the child for running and falling. This is completely unprofessional, yelling at a customer especially in front of a huge line of customers. They then asked the customer when it was ok to mop the floor. How about in the evening shortly before close? It's 3:45 in the afternoon on a Saturday and very busy. So yeah, now is probably not a good time!! And it was so rude to even ask that rhetorically to the customer! I will never come back here again. She never apologized to the customer and even threatened to kick her out of the store because the customer got angry with her. I would be angry too if you yelled at me and blamed my kid for falling! That was so rude I can't believe I even witnessed that! My issue wasn't that big of a deal in comparison, but if that's how their manager/employee treats customers, I don't want to contribute any revenue to this location!

Review Visit: August 11th, 2013…read more Dave's is a 'Cash Only' place. Dave's Pizza is one of those places that I am not sure how it popped up on my radar. I can't remember if it was suggested to me by someone or if its something that came up while looking for local restaurants to try. Either way, this day found Matt and I driving there for lunch. We went in with no expectations. No hype. No idea what the place was about (besides selling pizza). We were seated at a table and given menus. It took some debate on what to order as a few things looked good. Matt and I have similar tastes but mine tend to be a bit more eclectic. We settled on something that had pepperoni and green peppers on it? Looking at my photo and the menu, I don't see what it could be, so I am going to guess we built our own pizza. That's the thing I love about pizza... you can customize it a million different ways. Order placed and small talk ensued. While talking about random stuff, I looked around to take in the aesthetics. This is when my stomach dropped to my knees. I noticed a sign that said "Cash Only" or something to that effect. I looked at Matt and mentioned what I say. We both had some cash on us but wasn't sure what the final bill would be, so we mentioned something to the waitress. She said they had an ATM inside we could use if needed and we aren't the first to be caught off guard by that policy. The pizza came out and we dug in with apprehension about the bill. It took a few bites to get my brain focused on the fact that I was eating something yummy. Pretty yummy at that. It wasn't a pizza that blew my socks off but it did it's job and that was enough. By the second slice, I was happy and forgot about our dilemma for the time being. Matt and I put down most of the pizza and he let me have the 'to-go' container that held the last few pieces. We both really enjoyed the pizza as we discussed it a bit on the way home. When we go the bill, we were both a bit surprised at how much higher it was than we expected. This didn't make our situation any better. We both had to dig in our wallets to see what cash we had on hand. By the grace of the pepperoni god above, we had just enough to cover the pizza and leave a tip. This was a valuable travel lesson to learn. Always have some cash on hand in case of these situations. Some of these small town places are still cash only to avoid paying those debit/credit card transaction fees. Knowing and talking to a few small store owners, they all say those fees really add up over time. Dave's Pizza. A place we visited with no expectations and left satisfied, if not more relieved than anything.
