Best sandwich shop in Tazewell County? Find a better Italian combo sub in the Peoria area... I dare ya. Jimbos is tradition in Pekin, but it was down for the count a few years back. They have bounced back and have been rocking with new owners for a while now. Order the italian combo if your looking to be full for hours... and hours... and hours! Pizza's are especially good as well. Love their sausage chunks. read more

One word sums this place up..Horrible! I've lived in Pekin for 11 years. I've never had Jimbos Jumbo. So tonight me and my daughter decided to give it a try. To start, when I called, the woman that answered was kind of rude. I had looked at the menu online prior to calling but still had questions. One option is $6-7 for 4 chicken strips and fries. So I asked for 2 orders of those. She said they have to be purchased separately. Basically $5 for 4 chicken strips and close to $5 for the fries. Okay, I told her what the menu showed and she said sorry, it has to be sold separately. Fine. I ordered the "famous" steak sandwich they are known for and fries. I also ordered a small cheesy bread. Total came to $40!!! Simple enough. This was at 7:21pm.. I made sure to tell her exact instructions to my townhouse... After an hour of waiting, 8:20pm I call to check our order. It's chicken strips, fries and a sandwich.. easy enough. The same woman answered and asked for my address, I gave it to her and she put me on hold for several minutes. When she came back, she said the delivery guy had left 10 minutes prior to me calling and should be here at any moment.... TWENTY (20) minutes later I get a call from a random number, it's the driver. He can't find my home. I asked if the instructions where given to him, nope! As you can imagine, when you order what I did and it takes an hour and half to receive the order.. it's going to be cold. Sure enough! The fries felt like they'd just been taken out of the freezer and super soggy.. the chicken was soggy and ice cold.. the "famous" steak sandwich was cold, rubbery, and looked like it tasted.. like dog food! It cost me $45 with a tip to the drivers after all it wasn't his fault and he was very apologetic and nice.. But $45 for food that had to be thrown out! We ended up eating a frozen pizza at 930pm. I try to give ALL these smaller mom and pop places a chance... this is one I'll never eat at nor recommend again. TERRIBLE food and even WORSE customer service! read more

I got the chicken Parmesan sandwich..... yummy. My husband got the combo sandwich that looked good too. We had the toasted ravioli as an appetizer. The gals behind the counter were sweethearts. They suggested we try the wings and Pizza next time.... we will be back. read more

I've lived in Pekin the majority of my life and this was my first experience here. We did carry out & got the Jimbos Italian Beef (add motz & banana peppers) and cheese sticks. They are probably the best Sammy's EVER. So amazing!!! The cheese sticks are your typical fried cheese sticks, nothing amazing but still good. Tiny one table restaurant so I assume mostly -- call in -- carry out orders. Pizza and hot sandwiches seem to be the most popular choices. Talking hot ham and cheese, italian steaks, stuff like that. Also pasta and salads are on the menu. Good friendly people here. I am assuming it is owner operated. Bottom line, a local independent joint that has been a local favorite for quite some time. read more

We ordered a Jimbos Jumbos Jumbo 16" pizza last week, and was very pleased! The pizza was delivered in much less than 30 minutes, the delivery person was genuinely friendly, and the pizza was fantastic! Its about time Pekin has an original pizza! Update: We recently visited Jimbos Jumbos to order take out food. This was Saturday 12/7 around 1pm. The girl behind the counter was friendly and helpful, getting to our order very quickly. Soon after she began cooking, an older female employee came from the back area and began complaining loudly about another employee who was not at work that day. She was loud and verbal, not trying to keep her negative conversation private. It was distasteful, and made me wonder if she complains about customers the same way. read more

I've been there twice now and have enjoyed it both times. The first time I had a plain cheese pizza and I'm not sure it's fair to judge on cheese pizza so I waited to review until I had a something else. I tried the sausage and steak sandwich (based off a recommendation) and it was delicious! My only issue and it's a small one is that the mushrooms that were on top of the sandwich were raw, I wished they would have cooked them at least a little bit. Otherwise the bread was good and there was plenty of meat on the sandwich, definitely going to try them again! read more

I love this place is small but cozy, the staff here are incredibly friendly and the food is amazing. I went here for the first time over a year ago and we put in our order. After waiting quite awhile they realized they forgot to put in our order, they apologized profusely gave me a few cupons and threw in some free cookies. I come here at least twice a month for their buffalo chicken salad and hawiian pizza. I recommend their salads and wings. read more

First time visiting this place... I was in the area dropping off a 4-wheeler at Cupi's Motor Mall, so decided to try Jimbo's Jumo. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The Italian Beef sammich was done asap, with cheese fries shortly after. Both were very very good, will definitely make it a point to get food here again. The next day when I opened my truck the aroma poured out lol, still smelling the goods of the Italian sammy :) My only concern was the amount of fries was kinda small for the price, but not worth lowering the rating. Sure wish my sandwiches looked anything like the photos! Got 2 sandwiches...mostly bread...very little meat and a small order of bacon Mac and cheese. Sounded wonderful right?..but for $7.00 was really small and definitely not worth it. Didn't wait long..but I was the only customer. 4 employees were there. One working, one eating cake, one griping about the one eating cake and the other one was making excuses why she was late to work. Sounds like the pizzas are pretty good but I won't be back. read more

I live close by and get their food every few months hoping it'll be better than last time. Its quiet the opposite though....... the sandwiches are lack luster with meager amounts of meat. I just had a ham and cheese with only 5 pieces of some thin cheap looking lunch meat on it and not even enough cheese to cover it. My wifes sicilian almost a foot long only had 4 tiny pepperoni on it and what appeared to be cheap lunch meat. The bacon cheese fries were the bomb but the rest is rather mediocre. The pasta is all some cheap store bought frozen stuff that is warmed up in a steamer and then has a ladle of watery sauce poured on top of it (very disappointing).Ive never ordered a pizza from there for fear of it being like the other food. My first time here- ordered a selection of items from the menu, and unfortunately, not one of them met my expectations. The meat in the Italian steak was sparse and gristly, the fries in the cheese fries weren't fully cooked, and were quite soggy. The mozzarella sticks might have been cooked through, but had begun to congeal because they were done long before the other food, the wings were slimy, and they forgot the breadsticks for the ravioli. Support this place. Very nice people making a living, and it is not a corporate chain. The food is prepared in front of you. The sandwiches are top notch. I get the Italian Sausage with pickles, peppers, & cheese every time. EXCELLENT. My wife loves the Italian Beef. One of my sons always gets the wings. My other boy gets the pizza. I went there for their wing special, and was very disappointed to find out that they were frozen wings that they just put in the oven. I have had the pizza and it was very good, but I would not recommend their wings. If you can't do wings right then they shouldn't be done at all. I've relished Jimmy Snyder's Italian steak sandwich since his first week in Peoria (used to be in the tiny shack by the old Burger King on Knoxville). Ordered an Italian steak sandwich one of my favorite. Hadn't been to Jimbos Jimbos in several months so I was really craving the sandwich. Very disappointed with my order. First off the cost was $12.17.I was shocked that it cost that much for chips, sandwich, and a bottle of pop. I questioned the price after that I was ok, had ordered extra sauce and cheese on my sandwich. Once I got home and sat down to eat my sandwich it had very little sauce on it , the bun was different from the last time I eat from there. The bun was longer and way to much bread. The sandwich had more bread than filling for the price. I took my first bite it is COLD and the cheese was not melted. Ok no biggie right I could microwave it. My mistake it made it worse because the bread got hard and chewy, however the cheese did melted ha ha, cooked for less than a minute. It was gross! Waste of my money! I use to see a Manger every time I went in but this time there was no sign of anyone in charge. Wonder if the business changed hands? But in any case I won't go back.
