    Seafood platter.
    Michelle M.

This is hands down the best seafood I've had in my life. Simple, fresh and uncomplicated dishes are shining stars here. My husband and I shared the seafood platter for 2, which included lobster, crab, shrimp, clams and barnacles (side note: barnacles are delicious! Who knew?). The dish could have easily fed 3-4 people. The atmosphere was casual but classy. A reservation is definitely recommended. A must if you're in Cascais!!

This is the only restaurant in Portugal that asked for a tip. Afterwards I realized they ripped me off because VAT was included in my meal price. Don't fall for the tip is not included, it might be because I am American. My server was on the grumpy side and never once smiled, but I think that is his personality, he smiled for no one. Food: I ordered the pasta with chile, calamari, and shrimp. It was a unique pasta with garlic and tiny amounts of ginger, that played very well and there was like 2 chile rings and then calamari and shrimp. The pasta was cooked perfectly and right amount of sauce that just played well together. The calamari was cooked to perfection as was the shrimp but a few were not cleaned properly but everything tasted good. The chile did have a tiny bite so somebody might think this is spicy but was not for me, finally something with flavor. I did not eat all the pasta because then I ordered the octopus. The octopus was not cleaned properly but the texture was spot on and the taste was great, I added some of my own hot sauce on the side to give it some kick. Odd to have a boiled egg with the octopus, good taste but the green ring indicates the egg was overcooked. Everything was temperature hot and served fairly quickly. WiFi available. I should have just ordered the pasta because that was fantastic! The octopus was okay but took some work to clean. The pasta gives this place a 5. Service and tip with VAT already included would drop to 2. The octopus is 3 stars. But the pasta was the best meal thus far in Portugal.

We were given bread and olives to start (including gluten-free bread - woohoo!) We ordered vino verde for the table. My sister, husband, and myself got the sea bass cooked in salt and enjoyed with potatoes and green beans. It was absolutely delicious. Keep in mind that with the location, view and great food comes a price tag, but worth it if you are a foodie. We started with octopus salad (incredible if you like octopus), shrimp cooked in olive oil and spices, and a half dozen oysters. My cousin's husband ordered a 4.4 lb lobster and loved it. Needless to say, he ordered no sides. My cousin and I split a whole fish cooked Portuguese style with potatoes and some veggies. Waiter brought it whole, but deboned it and served it for us. Service was as expected from a high end restaurant. Decided to go to Belem in Lisbon for nata, so skipped dessert. Overall, if you have an important business deal, a special occasion or just want a great meal, O'Faroleiro will make it special. Cheers!

There is a dreamy, gothic ambiance and elegance to the hotel while at same time it feels very clean and upscale. As with the Michelin portion of the restaurant, you are seated front and center to an epic view of the rocky shoreline at Guincho. Low key early Bacharach w Dionne Warwick music bubbles in the background. Nice low key lighting. Total vibes. We tried several dishes and everything was delicious. Not a bad one in the bunch. A lot of fish based dishes with Portuguese touches . Perfect proportions. Super tasty. All the management and service remembered all my family's general food, drink, wine, breakfast preferences throughout our stay, especially main waiter Rue who took great care of us, as well as Fortaleza do Guincho hotel manager Victor and his assist Alexander. Highly recommend this place.

For each course he explained a little bit of history as well as some of the flavor profiles. Of course being so close to the coast. This was a very heavy seafood based menu which was good. I wasn't totally blown away, but I still did enjoy some of the flavors. My favorite included the sardines and the frozen yogurt! When we started our dessert course Joel could tell that I was getting stuffed and he in smart weight or form asked us if we were from the United States which we said yes. He then said there's a song from Journey that's making me think of you. It's called, "Don't stop believing " and I laughed out loud. He was absolutely delightful and was a fitting companion to the meal.
