I feel like it's really hard to find a good deli with a lot of great options in this area but Marathon Deli nails it. My wife and I moved to Ashland about 2.5yrs ago and the first place we tried was Marathon Deli. The variety of sandwiches caught our attention and we continue to come back because of the excellent service and the quality of their food. We ordered one of their deli platter options for a party of 20-30 people and it seemed like everyone had at least two or three sandwiches (and I had lunch for the next few days). Marathon Deli is the best place to grab lunch in Ashland. My family and I have been going there for years, especially when we used to live in town...They have an extensive menu featuring all different types of subs & wraps, hot dinners (my fave is the American Chop Suey!!!), soups, and deli salads. The owners and staff are really friendly and do a great job! The place is really clean and located right on route 135, very easy to get to. Also, the owners give back to the community too... I had a fundraiser raffle for a charity a few months ago, and they were very generous in donating gift basket & gift card. I've been coming here since middle school (20+ years ago), and it's always been my favorite deli! Everything is super fresh and made to order, and the sandwiches are huge. My favorites include the chicken salad (or buffalo chicken salad), turkey club wrap (which is absolutely loaded with bacon), and the mayflower (which is - you guessed it! - a traditional Thanksgiving sandwich)... I decided to try something different today, and went with the fish and chips. I was NOT disappointed! The fish was fresh, as expected, but it was also the best batter/fry I've had in a while. Tasty and fresh. More like a sub shop than a gourmet deli or a Jewish deli, so the name is slightly misleading.

Marathon Deli is our go-to for sandwiches, wraps and paninis. The menu is robust and we've tried a variety of options and everything is always delicious. They don't skimp on the portions - the sandwiches are always piled high with meat and are very filling. We've placed orders for up to 12 people and they've always gotten everything right. I'd recommend calling in your order, especially during the lunch rush - it gets very busy. The only negative about Marathon deli is their hours. Weekdays they close at 7:30pm, Saturdays they close at 5:00pm & they're closed on Sundays - there have been many times we've wanted to order dinner on Saturday or lunch on a Sunday and they've been closed - I wish they would extend their hours, at least on Saturday! read more

Came in and tried the pastrami, quite possibly the best sub sandwich I've ever had !! great staff clean restaurant. Place was very busy and for them to keep the quality up to par like that was impressive. The food is pretty good, but not mind blowing. Good prices and it's nice to have the option in town. We eat here somewhat regularly as it has a good location for pick up and will deliver sometimes/most of the time. If we knew they would always deliver we'd probably use them more. Going into the shop (for whatever reason) is a tad uncomfortable. Not overly friendly service unless you're a regular. The main guy (the owner I guess) does greet his regulars very warmly and treat them well. There was a time when I could swear I was the only one in line that actually paid for my food. Had high hopes based off the reviews. Stopped by for lunch and they were very busy and our food took a while, which is understandable but then 2 of my 4 sandwiches were totally wrong. On my turkey sandwich literally the only thing he got right was the turkey! I never write bad reviews but I am super disappointed! read more

Subs are great! Very solid, you can't go wrong. Chicken fingers are....different. Not good vs. bad, just different than what you might expect. Just noteworthy because if you have a picky eater who only eats chicken fingers, these might not be what he/she is expecting. If you like wraps then this is the place for you because 90% of the menu is specialty wraps. You can get the sandwich on a sub roll instead which seems to be what a lot of the customers do. But, changing a wrap to a sub and paying over $9 for a small seems like a lot of work for that price. I also noticed the sandwich maker using a microwave pretty frequently during the busy lunch hour I was there. Not sure what for but if I wanted ingredients from a microwave I'd grab something off the $1 menu at Wendy's. read more
