After arriving in Boston Logan airport, we hopped in our rental car and were pretty hungry. We started looking for restaurants close to our driving route, and Cheesy St. Grill came up with some really great reviews. I admit the location may not be fancy near the gas station and service plaza/roadside stop, but I can tell you this is a spot you don't want to miss! Chantaly greeted all the customers with a smile, and she kept the short line moving right along with great efficiency. She helped us decide which grilled cheese sandwich variation we should try. I had the Caprese with both pesto and balsamic spread, and I was a little worried it would be too messy or saucy but it was perfect and amazing! My son had the daily special with boneless beef short ribs and grilled onions. She makes each sandwich to order so you can adjust the choice of bread or any of the ingredients, and she presents it fresh off the grill, hot and fresh. The most popular sandwich we saw several folks order the one that includes their amazing Mac & cheese that is actually spread inside the sandwich! I think you may not be able to go wrong with anything here - I wish I lived in the area. The seating area was very clean, too. We saw Phantom Gourmet visit here on one of their episodes and we were intrigued....a stop on the Massachusetts Turnpike that specializes in grilled cheese and macaroni and cheese?!? So we took the ride out to visit which entailed us paying to take a ride on the turnpike (we could have entered through the back access road, but it was just way easier to take the turnpike). We arrived in the middle of a weekend afternoon and it was very quiet at the stop. There isn't any table service, but a counter you order at. We were overwhelmed by the selection of options!!! Our order takers helped uS make a selection and we ordered the signature with wheat and berry bread with bacon and mushrooms along with a traditional Mac and cheese. Our order takers brought our meals to our table when they were ready and it was all AMAZING!! If you're ever near here you should check them out!! So I ordered a grilled cheese with short rib, the grilled cheese that had goat cheese with tomato and bacon and then the Mac n cheese. Well not as good as I hoped. The Mac n cheese was so dry, after two bites I had to toss it. The grill cheeses were not bad but but dry as well. What ever they use to toast the bread makes it not taste like bread. It's more pressed and browned then toasted. Although I will not be ordering from here again you all can make your own decision on the grilled cheeses. I would steer clear of the Mac n cheese though. read more

This place is a hidden gem if you're traveling on the Pike! They have a location eastbound in Natick and another westbound in Westborough. The food is certainly on the comfort end of the scale with excellent flavor. The sandwiches are loaded and will squash even the strongest hunger. The owner (Lisa) is a sweetheart and works extremely hard to take care of customers, despite being severely understaffed. Side note: if you know anyone looking for a good-paying job working for a wonderful boss, she is hiring! As an added bonus, Cheesy Street Grill uses compostable containers, which I appreciate. Someone gave me info about this place and so I decided to go it was at a rest stop on the mass pike it looked very small but don't let that fool you look inside the rest stop it is very big. The owner was very nice I chose to order bacon and American grilled cheese I took a bite and it was very good the cheese was melted and the bacon had that crisp and smoky flavor I got some mac cheese I chose not to get breadcrumb because they had chipotle and I don't like spicey food.I took a bite it was good but it was overpowered with onion flavored and when I got home it gave me a very big cramp that lasted through the night overall I would recommend this place but people but beware of the mac&cheese read more

Our group stopped here at the beginning of a 9 hour trip home because we wanted a quick stretch before we hit the road, and were not expecting a chain spot that felt like a local-owned place. Is this a four-star review for an eatery within a Turnpike service plaza area? Yes, yes it is. This place arrived, replacing a McCafé, in a very timely manner, as the neighboring Dunkin' Donuts has just discontinued its own cheese sandwich offerings (DD, I don't know you anymore.) And this is probably the only rest area I can think of that doesn't have a "flagship" name fast food / junk food restaurant -- the Boston Market has the drive-thru, everything else is specialty (Fresh City, D'Angelo's). This already makes Westborough-westbound the best option on the pike, if not the entire universe of sad service plazas. Oh, but the grilled cheese here? OUTSTANDING. No, really. The house special, with three cheeses, is worth making a stop. Did I just say that? YES THIS IS WORTH GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY FOR. Plan your Turnpike trips accordingly. Hell, maybe even take a loop on the Turnpike -- your toll is the tip, I guess -- just to eat here if you're local. It's good. (Why not a fifth star, you may ask, given excellent food and fine counter service -- in a word, the hours. Very limited, which means at this location harder to plan a visit. This is the most unique rest stop restaurant and the best fast food I've ever had. They are opening franchises and I hope they come my way. This is the most unique restaurant I've ever been to on a highway. Signature grilled cheese sandwiches and all are delicious. I got the Cajun chicken sandwich. Super happy with my choice. This was a spontaneous munch as i had just stopped to use the Boys Room, while driving back to NYC. The cute girl behind the counter suggested a chicken grilled cheese, and HOLY CATS it was a good sandwich!! I got it to-go, with the plan to just take a bite in the parking lot and finish the rest while driving..... it was so good, i never left the parking lot and finished the whole thing. On my way westbound on the Massachusetts Turnpike, hunger pains started to hit and I begrudgingly pulled off to a rest stop, knowing I'd have to settle for some fast food crap. On entering the building, a very friendly lady was offering samples of various varieties of grilled cheese sandwiches. The "Get Shorty" sample really impressed me - beef short rib sandwich with Chipotle Mac & Cheese. When I wandered into the concession area where their counter was, I peeped at the menu and saw a "French Onion" sandwich. I asked the friendly person working the counter if they could take the short rib meat and put it on to the French onion sandwich. Bingo - she was very accommodating with my request. This turned out to be a killer sandwich combo (call you guys should add it to your menu in the future!). If you are driving west on the turnpike, I recommend that you stop in here or at the other location eastbound in Natick. You won't be sorry! read more

Wow, what a gem. Hopkinton sucks for food and this place is excellent despite being in a Mass Pike rest stop. Pro Tip: If you are not on the Mass Pike and want to get there from Hopkinton or Westborough or wherever there is a perfectly legal access road (Macadam Rd) behind the rest stop where you can park right next to the rest stop and walk over. I had the French Onion sandwich which was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth awesome. With the tomato bisque on the side it was a masterpiece of flavor. For somewhere around $35 I fed my family of 4 with plenty left over for lunch the next day. Unfortunately, they don't have the tots advertised on their web site which is a bummer, but still great food and I was able to buy it online ahead of time and it was waiting when I got there 2 minutes early. My fiancé and I decided to try this place based on the yelp reviews and their nice website. Plus it was on the way to the mall and a grilled cheese sounded like a good lunch. We love grilled cheeses and when we're down in providence RI we like to go to UMelt. Based on all of the reviews we were really excited because we can get a grilled cheese around here instead of driving 50minutes We arrived and it looked closed. It was around 2 pm and we were kind of confused since online stated it was open. There wasn't a "we'll be right back sign" or anything so we disappointedly walked around to see our options. As we were leaving(because there was no good options) we noticed that it was open again and we were very excited. I got the grilled cheese with the short rib and Mac and cheese and my fiancé got the taco one. They sounded really good and the woman who made them brought them to our table. The food however wasn't that good. I ate half of my grilled cheese and then I picked at the other side. The Mac and cheese in it was bland, it needed salt or pepper or more cheese and the short rib was also missing seasoning. My fiancé did enjoy his taco grilled cheese but also stated it needed something. Will we come again? Probably not. read more
