My family and I stopped at Marble Slab Creamery for a sweet treat while in the area. I didn't order anything but I tried my husband's choice of ice cream. We parked and walked in. This ice cream parlor was kind of small with limited seating along the side of a wall. They had a variety of ice cream choices, cones, toppings, ice cream cakes, and milkshakes. The person working behind the counter greeted us and asked what we would like. My son ordered mint chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone. My husband ordered the cheesecake ice cream in a cup. The cheese cake ice cream was good. It definitely had the cheesecake flavor. The texture of the ice cream was creamy. Overall Marble Slab was an okay place to stop. The ice cream itself is decent. But the prices are pretty pricey for what it is, a small cone which is the most "inexpensive" Item is around 9$. The employee that was serving me seemed like a nice lady at first, but questionably didn't automatically give us a receipt at the end of purchase. It's extremely shady for an employee not to hand out a receipt, always ask for a receipt to check for unwanted charges. Also to the owner of this place, at the minimum hire at-least 2 people, the lady that was at the counter had to deal with about 5 customers when I was there (she did a really good job tending the customers). This was comically bad. Could not understand the staff lady and so much miscommunication. She took so long on our order the next customers sat down on the chairs waiting so we (the first to get had to go outside to eat ). We quickly discover that the ice cream is not cold; melting everywhere. So I take my son back inside and ask to go in the mentioned by others "out of order" bathroom "for customers only". She gave me the code to get in. 1961. So we unlock and of course the bathroom is clean (ish) and works fine. It appeared that she just didn't wanna clean it. And also appeared that the upstairs where we could've been seated inside, was walked off because she didn't want to clean it. It was comically unfriendly ice cream store. Oh and she tries to be awkward about waiting for me to give a tip (the screen doe not clearly show an option for less than 15% tip) I was just chuckling to myself. I had to leave a review after coming to this location two times now while visiting friends. It's disappointing to come to an ice cream shop, and the employees have zero desire to provide satisfactory service.. serving ice cream... The employee(s) working 8:30 PM- 9:30 PM make a customer's portions half the size of those at other Marble Slab locations and limit the amount of toppings when requested. I have featured a picture to show what my friend received tonight after asking to have the Dubai Chocolate Sunday. Unacceptable. This should be at most $9. Not $13. I have been to Marble Slabs in Mississippi on multiple occasions over the years. A few months ago, I ordered the new Dubai Chocolate Sunday ($12.99) at the Ocean Springs, MS location. One of the best tasting ice cream experiences I've ever had, and the employee nailed the presentation... it looked exactly as advertised. I have done it before and last year was told to do so a few days in advance if I wanted writing on it. I did, which is why I was trying to order it a few days ahead of time. The lady just told me that you no longer do the service. I don't think she understood a word I was saying. First when I called no answer, line just picked up and hung up. I called back thinking it was a mistake before I could even say why I was calling I was told I had the wrong number. The absolute worst experience I have ever had at this location. My family has visited this location many time over the past 15 years but after our latest experience we will never take our business back. Our family of 5 entered the shop around 10pm on Friday. We opted to sit and eat our ice cream in the shop because we had 2 children with us. Around 10:25 PM, one of the employees approached my family to inform us that the shop was closed and that we needed to leave. The employee continued to hover over my family. In a confused state, we started to clean up our mess. When we were not moving fast enough for the employee she again informed us that we needed to leave. As we were leaving at 10:27 PM, 2 customers drove up and entered the shop. These customer being 2 adults were allowed to enter. When I drove back by the shop at 10:47 PM there were then 3 customers enjoying their ice cream in the shop. For clarity, the signage next to the entry (picture included) indicated that this Marble Slab location closes at 11:00 PM on Fridays. Based on this experience it appears that this Marble Slab location has discriminatory practices against children. For what...being messy? Being kids? There is no other explanation why 20 minutes after we were told to leave because the shop was "closed" that there would be 3 adult customers (unrelated to the establishment) sitting in the shop enjoying their ice cream. To make matters worse, they would not allow us to use the bathroom claiming it was out of order. The worse customer service of any Marble Slab I have ever been too. Marble Slab is my favorite because I'm obsessed with their Amaretto. Always have been. But every time I go to this location the staff is rude and pushy. I asked for the small and she basically made me feel bad for not getting the more expensive regular size. I often get that size but today I wanted just a small. Customer is always right doesn't not apply here. If you want Marble Slab in the area go to the other one on 45 in Webster or the one in League City. I have been to this one several times just because it is easier to drive into it on Bay Area when driving that way. NEVER AGAIN!!! I will go out of my way to go to one of the other ones in the area. This place was rated two stars and I'm paying (literally) for ignoring that and going here anyway. The women working here are scam artists. I ordered two small cups of ice cream, one of the two women showed me a cup and I nodded, assuming she was showing me the size I asked for. Then, while mixing my order she fails to mix it up all the way and I had to ask her to mix it further. All of the mix-ins were just sitting on top. As she's mixing it, my husband comments on the size of the ice cream, asking if it's a small. I said yes as the woman glanced at him after his question that she clearly heard, as well as my response, and back down to the slab without saying a word. Once she finishes our order she tells me the total is $14. Shocked, I ask her the price of my husband's custom order and when she tells me $7, I'm aghast at $7 for a small when the board behind her clearly says $5. When I point it out she then tells me I have regular sizes, not smalls like I asked for. She then tries to blame me, saying I chose the cup size. However, I asked for a small and she showed me a cup. I didn't think she would be deceitful and show me a larger size than what I was asking for. The stack of cups aren't in size order, just grouped in a circle, so there was no way to realize it was the wrong size. This was by far the biggest waste of my money. There were two workers and one of them completely ignored the full lobby of customers while the other employee moved so slow. I was ordering ice cream for me and my family and we got watered down ice cream handed to us and was dripping all over the place before we even walked out of the door. Me,my sister and my young nephew went into this shop to get ice cream for a fun thing to do. The people behind us kept getting closer and closer despite social distancing. They grabbed a cake out of the fridge and we're serviced, checked out, and left before us, even though we were first in line and already knew what we wanted. I stopped in to get a small ice cream. I even pointed at the smallest cup. The lady apparently ignored me and made me the biggest cup?? The Sweet Cream tasted like they watered it down or mixed milk with it, had ice slushies all through it. We ordered 2 small cones that should've been $5.99 each, but they conveniently had no plain cones. They charged us extra to get a cone w/chocolate on it and also extra for a plain waffle bowl. The waffle only fit halfway down the bowl and then looking at my receipt, she charged me $6.99 for regulars. I ordered a cake online for my nephews birthday party. It was originally suppose to be a small classic cookies and creme cake for $26.99. I didn't add anything custom to it. When I arrived to the store, She went to the back to retrieve it. The cake I ordered was a lot smaller than I anticipated. Luckily, they had ice cream cakes for sale in the refrigerator and they had a medium one that was labeled $36.99. The cake I originally ordered was the exact same cake-just in different size. I asked the lady If I could buy the medium cake instead. She told me she had to call her manager to ask about the price. I was quite confused since the cake was labeled $36.99. When I asked about it, she told me since I ordered online, the price is different. They wanted to charge me $42.99 for this cake that was labeled $36.99!!!! Why would I pay more for a cake than what it was labeled for... that makes no sense to me. She then preceded to tell me she could give it to me for $39.99. I really felt cheated and didn't feel like arguing since I needed to get to the party. I will never order from here or Marble slab again. The only thing that saved from a scathing review is the ice cream. Though they were a bit skimpy on the toppings, the ice cream was pretty good. I'm not sure if they're just unhappy with their lives but they never say thank you or welcome anyone. When asking what we wanted I just get the "yes?" nod. I've always found that rude. Also, I know coupons can be frustrating but if you don't like them, DON'T PUT THEM IN THE PAPER! And if a guest has one, don't sigh rudely and ask your coworker if it is valid.
