Marble Steakhouse & Grille has become our go-to for Korean BBQ. That is not a light compliment in Orange County, where there are plenty of options. We keep ending up here because the meat is consistent, the staff are accommodating, and the whole night still feels easy once you are seated. Getting a table is usually fine for us. We do not have too much of an issue most of the time. The slower part is the setup. They can take a while getting the table ready, and that is the one operational ding I would mention. Once the grill is going, though, it stops mattering. We get the bone-in short rib a lot. That is the regular order. Beef belly is really good too, and sometimes we do the marinated bone rib when we want something a little different on the same table. The cold noodles are also good, which helps when you need a break from the meat and something colder to cut through the richness. Staff have been great. They are accommodating without making a show of it, which is exactly what you want at Korean BBQ when you are managing plates, tongs, and a table full of people. The banchan, those free starter plates and side dishes, keep coming the way they should. It is one of those small things that makes the meal feel complete instead of just a pile of meat on a grill. Overpriced, Poor Portions, and Disappointing Quality. Spent $400 for a group of 10 (Actually 9 because 90 year old mom eat nothing) and left frustrated and hungry. The portion sizes have shrunk drastically-our "Large Combo" actually contained less food than the "Small Combo" we ordered on a previous visit, forcing me to order extra rice in case just to ensure my guests had enough to eat. Beyond the skimpy portions, the experience was a letdown. Instead of traditional tableside Korean BBQ, almost all the meat (pork, short ribs, and a tiny 5-piece ribeye) was pre-cooked in the kitchen (not served at your table with raw meat), stripping away the interactive dining experience and making it hard to tell what cuts we were actually getting. On top of that, basic side dishes like kimchi were completely missing, and the dining room was uncomfortably smoky because the exhaust hoods were turned off unless you requested turn it ON like our previous visit. I also noticed that the restaurant was a bit smokey from all the grilling. My friend and I ordered the small beef combo that included short rib, brisket, and marinated boneless beef. What I did enjoy was the variety of banchans that they had along with the kimchi buchimgae. They grill the meat in the back and then bring it out and place it on the grill at the table to keep it warm and to cook it more if needed. The service was outstanding. We ordered the cold noodles and stir-fried spicy pork--the food quality was solid and the prices were quite reasonable (actually quite low). My only real complaint is about glove use. Staff wear gloves, but they touch everything with them: picking things up off the floor, walls, scratching their necks, handling the cash register, throwing away trash, etc.--then go straight to setting tables, handling utensils, and serving food without changing gloves. I watched a waitress pick up a cable cover from the floor and spend a good minute fixing cables that were hanging out. Right after that, still wearing the same gloves, she started making her rounds--handing out napkins, pouring water, and so on. It would be better if servers either changed gloves frequently or skipped the gloves altogether and just washed/sanitized their hands regularly. read more

They don't have the tradition napa cabbage kimchi however, instead a cucumber kimchi which was fine. Probably my favorite KBBQ spot in the OC right now. The side dishes (banchan) are all fresh and delicious. The meat quality is superb from the ribeye to the marinated short rib. The servers are all very attentive and responsive. The ambiance is upscale, clean, and modern. With all that being said, it's not exactly the cheapest KBBQ spot but with Marble, you get what you pay for which is high quality food, great service, and a clean and contemporary environment. Wow, what a wonderful experience! We've passed this place by so many times in the Woodbury shopping center thinking it was a traditional steakhouse. But don't be fooled, they certainly serve KBBQ, banchan (sides) and all! Let's get the money talk out of the way since that seems to be a major point of contention here. We got the $85 small beef combo, which comes with 3 generous meat portions (brisket, ribeye, boneless short rib), a beautiful spread (see attached photo), steamed egg & soybean soup. The spread also includes a sizeable kimchi pancake and 2 large shrimps. All of these was more than enough food for 2 people. We couldn't finish and ended up taking some home as leftovers (which you can't do at AYCE!). Most AYCE KBBQ in Irvine cost about ~$40 per person, so the price is very comparable. If you can vacuum down the meats like a savage, then yea the AYCE will be a better option. But if you want a filling and balanced meal, packed with different vegetables, then this is superior. Not to mention the employees grill the meat for you to perfection, and the quality of the meat is better too! You don't have to do any of the cooking. Honestly came with low expectations since I'm spoiled by so many great Korean bbq places closer to home but was so surprised and really loved it here. Parking is super easy and service was top notch (our server cooked every meat so perfectly). The inside is spacious and modern. Only downside is the ventilation could be better - you will come out smelling like bbq after. We got the large beef set, side of pork jowl, and cold noodles and spicy noodles. It was nice having the staff cook the meat for us, though they did drop our meat a few times, which was a little awkward. We also asked them to cut our cold noodles, and they used the same scissors that had touched raw meat. I was not too worried since raw beef is safe to eat, but it still caught me off guard. I had really wanted to try their pasta dish after seeing it in older Yelp photos, but I was told it is no longer on the menu. The banchan was a little different from other KBBQ places. I really like the jullienned green onions and the corn dish, that is something I don't remember seeing at other places. The decor inside is modern and feels new. The service was exceptional! I thought the brisket was decent, but when the set menu was a little pricier than at an AYCE restaurant I expected it to be better. It was a little dry unfortunately. The non-marinated boneless short beef had nice marble to it which came out in the flavor. It was very juicy and packed with flavor. We also got the naengmyeon or the cold buckwheat noodles. Refreshing with all the beef we had. But the star of the night has to be marinated boneless short rib. The flavoring on the marinade really compliments the beef.
