    yellow croaker
    Leah C.

This place is so so wonderful and awesome! John, the owner, runs his establishment with an admirable attention to detail and a deep degree of care. As the restaurant name promises, we were given a plentiful selection of tasty sides. The yellow croaker was absolutely amazing. I am so excited to come back here in the future!

I wanna first start off with, be patient! This is a small restaurant and the waitlist can be inconsistant because Korean people tend to take their time with their meal. This means that the tables won't rotate out as well but that is Korean culture. After waiting for around 45 minutes, me and my mom finally sat down and ordered the two combos, one with Spicy Raw Crab and the Mackerel. The food itself came out quickly. They actually start you off with a small salad and mushroom soup which is perfect to set your stomach up. The Soft Tofu was delicious and flavorful with their housemade Kimchi making the whole pot. Their Mackerel was cooked to perfection, I legit ate all of it. The Spicy Raw Crab was not fishy at all and was super flavorful with each bite. Shoutout to Cat and John for an amazing service and experience. Definitely check this place out but remember! Be patient please!

LA galbi combo with kimchi tofu soup

Just tried this place and it was very good food. I had the LA galbi combo with kimchi tofu soup (you can select any one of the tofu soups - such as beef/pork, veg, etc.). The service was prompt and attentive and the banchan was tasty. i especially liked the potato apple salad and the galbi was tender and fatty just the way i like them. Will go again.

They are not lying about the 9 dishes !! Dropped by with my parents on a Friday evening, and it was a really great experience! We ordered a bibimbap, mushroom soondubu, and bulgogi. The bulgogi was marinated well, and the mushroom soondubu was comforting and flavorful as well too. However, the highlight for me was the quality of the side dishes! Each one was so different, and several of them were unique - not ones I normally see as a side dish at a soondubu restaurant. My favorites were the cold tofu, potato salad, and tteokboki. Service was also exceptional at this restaurant, and all the workers were so nice! We never had to ask anyone to refill any side dishes as they were constantly offering. This is definitely a new restaurant worth checking out!

Definitely coming back for the ban chan/sides! Located in the Gen and 7 Leaves plaza. It's a smaller restaurant and was getting busy around noon/lunch time. Their sides are definitely the highlight because they're so unique from the typical ones you see, but also soo good with free refills. I got the LA galbi combo which came with a small tofu soup. I liked how they have a small and regular option for their combos. The small was $28.99 and the large was $34.99. The tofu soup and galbi tasted a little different but still good! Our server was very welcoming and friendly. Overall great experience!

An amazing addition to Tustin! If you recognize John (the owner) from All That Shabu in Irvine, you already know the level of incredible service to expect at his new spot, 9 Dish Tofu House (which he opened for his wife!). We stopped by close to closing on a Friday, received a warm welcome, and had a fantastic meal. We ordered: 01. Soy Bulgogi ($27.99) - 5 Stars - Thinly sliced, incredibly tender, and perfectly balanced. Better than BCD or Kaju! 02. Kimchi Tofu Soup with Beef ($18.99) - 4 Stars - Fresh, steaming hot, and flavorful without being overly salty or too spicy. 03. Complimentary Banchan - 5 Stars - A unique, refreshing variety. The quail eggs, scallion pancake, and light citrus salad were excellent, but the mushroom soup stole the show. The servers were amazing and kept refills coming automatically. PARKING - Lots of parking in the plaza so don't worry. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Stellar service, consistent to what you can expect if John is running the show. His amazing personal touch is unmatched. John and his servers were so attentive and super NICE. FOODS - Incredible food, you can taste the quality of the ingredients. VERDICT - Highly recommend! Go see John...if you are craving Soft Tofu Soups but hate the BCD Tofu wait, you won't be disappointed. Thanks John - So happy we stopped by and saw you. We'll be back soon to visit. Best of luck on your new restaurant, may 9 Dish Tofu House be as successful as All That Shabu. See you soon.

I'm not exaggerating when I say everything was soooo tasty I wanted to lick the little plates cuz they were all delicious and beautiful First time coming and I must say I was pleasantly surprised of the 2 appetizers of salad and small teaser of mushroom soup which was OMG amazing. The side dishes were all beautiful and I can tell they put attention to visual presentation!!! Service was great and I felt this place treats the customers in a very CLASSY way, I felt like a King. Thank you to both the gentleman and the young gal for their great service. I'm excited to return with new friends.

This is the best combo ever! The combo soup is to die for.

Everything is awesome here. They have the best of the best on their menu so you know this is where you need to go to get your soup fix. I want to try the croaker or Galbi but it would be too much food.

Service 5/5 From one of the older men was stellar. He made faces with my baby when she was being fussy lol he also checked up on us to make sure we liked the food Plain tofu soup 5/5 Comforting! It has flavor despite being "plain". I had to get plain because my recent wisdom teeth surgery, and this totally fit the bill. I added chewy noodles and they didn't remain chewy, but was quite satisfying. Regular tofu soup 4/5 Bae said he enjoyed it ! Atka mackerel 4/5 it didn't flake as easy, but is fine if you're craving fish! Huge portion Banchan 4/5 Quite varied! Didn't try too much cuz had to avoid pickle /spicy, but for them to have a mini portion of dukbokee is nice. The free cream of mushroom soup has lots of flavor! They were playing lots of older kpop in the background which was nice. Space is quite clean and they accept Amex.

I completely understand why this tofu soup place has nearly 5 stars. ITS SO GOOD. its so good that im writing this review while im still at the restaurant The soups are amazing. Great depth of flavor and not too salty. Reasonably priced too! I got the small intestine soup and i loved it. I appreciate the side dishes and i know this place was gonna be good when i saw the kimchi pancake as a side dish. The service was great. John was our server and he was attentive, nice, and just a chill dude overall. He saw that i used a napkin as a bib bc im wearing a white shirt so he gave me a bib. MUST TRY! Better than kaju and bcd tofu house by MILESSSSSS. Im definitely coming back Side note: the restaurant plays fire second (?) gen kpop songs (exo, snsd, etc)

I got mild spicy and it was not too spicy. If you like spice, you may want to go medium.

We waited 30 minutes to get a table but it was well worth it. The food was fresh, the banchan was a grade better than most places in the OC and the service was great. They checked on us often. The manager/Owner John stopped by our table multiple times that night. The restaurant is small so I recommend going during non-typical hours, right when it opens and after the first dinner rush. Also note that they are closed on Tuesdays. I took three boys with me and they loved getting their own banchan so that they didn't have to share! Haha.

We came just after opening on a Sunday and it was full! We used Yelp waitlist. Only two staff front of house so they were quite busy taking orders, brining banchan, bussing plates and cleaning tables. We started with some creamy mushroom soup and small salad. Before the entree we got eight banchan dishes, with egg upon request. Refills if you want more. The tofu soup was hot and filling. We god mild but we should have ordered one level higher since we didn't quite taste the heat! The Bimbimbap had a nice crispy rice, with gochujang hot sauce upon request. Plenty of parking in the strip mall.

We came to this place since we've never heard of it. The parking here was easy as it's in a big strip mall. Luckily, we got there at a good time because there was no wait and we were able to get seated as soon as we got there. The place is clean and service was very good. I opted for the mild beef soondubu. I was pleasantly surprised with the mushroom soup and salad, that was a nice touch. I probably could have had another cup of the soup but I didn't want to get too full because I knew that the banchan (side dishes) were refillable too. They had marinated quail eggs, apple salad, kimchi, ddukboki, kimchi jeon, soy bean sprouts, and more. Everything tasted so fresh and it was very delicious. The soondubu itself was spot on, normally when I eat at these tofu joints, I have a lot of soup leftover but I barely had any this time around. I would for sure come back, I would love to try their kalbi or bulgogi next time.

The part I want to really emphasize was the service. The young man that took care of us was very attentive and most importantly, treated my kids so well. He provided them with all their usual needs like plastic silverware, extra bowls for soup, and even offered extra soup when he saw that they devoured the galbi soup. He went out of his way to give them some BTS Edition Oreos and little bags with stickers in them. I am always very grateful anytime people take care to treat my kids well. If you're going with a few people, the Braised Spicy Premium Beef Ribs with the flat glass noodles is definitely the move. The portion easily feeds two to three. The meat is super tender and just falls off the bone, covered in a rich, spicy sauce that has a nice kick to it. The flat glass noodles soak up all that sauce, and the chunks of kabocha squash add a slight sweetness that balances out the spicy, heavy beef. Service is super fast. You get your banchan pretty much the second you sit down, and the food comes out steaming hot without a long delay. If you're looking for a quick group lunch spot where you can split something huge and spicy, it's definitely worth coming here.

Parking in the main lot can fill up quickly, but there's an underground garage with plenty of space. The dining room is bright with high ceilings, giving it a very open feel. There wasn't any music playing during our visit, but the atmosphere was still nice because no one was trying to talk over the noise. Service was excellent throughout the meal. The staff was attentive, and we were pleasantly surprised when they brought out a complimentary bowl of jjajangmyeon. The black bean sauce was smooth and flavorful, and the noodles had a great chewy texture. The banchan were all solid. I especially enjoyed the crunchy cucumbers and the daikon radish, which tasted very fresh. The acorn jelly was another standout with its soft texture. The fish cake was the only side that didn't quite impress me, as it was a little on the dry side. We also ordered the mandu, which had a crispy exterior and a juicy filling. It's an easy appetizer to recommend. For our main dishes, the naengmyeon was light, refreshing, and slightly sweet with just a mild kick of spice. It was a great contrast to the richer dishes on the table. The bossam was another winner. The pork was incredibly tender, and the kimchi and ssamjang served alongside it added just the right amount of heat and acidity to balance the richness of the meat. Overall, this was a really enjoyable meal with attentive service, well-prepared food, and several standout dishes. I'd definitely come back, especially for the bossam and naengmyeon.

While I've noticed some dishes have definitely improved in quality, I can't help but feel that the portions and overall experience don't quite match the rising prices. One major gripe I have is the banchan portion when you order takeout--it's definitely lacking, yet the price remains the same. I get it, this is a premium spot, and part of what you're paying for is the ambiance. But when you're just grabbing food to go and the service feels a bit off, it starts to make me question whether it's worth it. Honestly, I've been feeling like the prices have crept up a bit too much lately, likely due to the landlord hiking the rent. Plus, I've noticed a bit of pressure to finish up quickly, especially when I'm dining solo, which can be a bit off-putting. That said, this is my go-to place when I'm under the weather--I can't get enough of their soups! However, with the rising costs and what you actually get in return, I've found myself stopping by less frequently. It's a bit of a disappointment, as it used to be a staple in our family's dining rotation.
