Included curry is good, but it's hard to justify this price point when there are other places with similar quality for less $. We picked the $38.95 portion and since we can order 6 platters of meat at a time, this was the easiest and most filling for a party of 3. Drinks are extra for sodas, but hot water and ice water are free. Service was attentive and easy to reach out for additional ordering of servings or clearance of tables. I would say the half bowl serving of tonkatsu and shabu shabu broth is a bit small for 3, and takes a bit of coordinating to make sure we get the right amount of heat to boil. It's actually such an amazing deal because Friday lunch is $29.95 and after the discount it's less than $24 per person for AYCE meats, veggies, and more. We walked in around 11:45 and it was not too busy. It started filling up more throughout our meal. It seemed like they were understaffed with no hostess, so our server Anderson was also seating people. He was truly friendly and efficient given all the work he had to do. He took our orders, brought out everything we asked for, and checked on us many times to clear out empty plates and bring us refills of various items. The short plate was my son's favorite meat. While I liked the Chuck Eye roll because it was leaner. Both were very good in the two broths. We tried many different veggies, tofu, noodles, sauces, curry, etc from the farmers market. We had a reservation but the restaurant had open tables at the time. We loved that it was a bit more empty. The parking lot, on the other hand, was WILD! We ended up parking behind the daycare center. We opted for the AYCE Wagyu experience which was pricey but oh so good. Everything in the restaurant seemed new and clean! The servers were friendly, helpful, and attentive. And I loooved all the fresh vegetables at the self-serve bar/farmers market. So many great choices! Overall, all the meats were delicious. Fatty, flavorful, and yummy. We ended up doing the Shabu Shabu broth and Sukiyaki broth. Both were great! I really LOVED the gomadare sauce (sesame seed sauce). The meat quality was good, and the broths were flavorful, which made everything taste great. My only suggestion would be to offer more vegetable options. I'm so excited Momo Paradise opened in Irvine! It's a chain Shabu place from Japan and they have it all over the world. I've had it in Taiwan and Torrance so I'm very happy it's finally closer to me. I was able to book reservations online for our party of 7. Check in was easy and we were seated right away. Our server was very thorough in explaining how the process works. I got the Shabu Shabu broth while my kids got the tonkontsu broth. For a small additional price I upgraded to the all you can drink option which included an assortment of sodas and teas. Momo is one of the latest all you can eat shabu restaurants to come to Irvine and I'm here for it. They're located in the busy 99 Ranch shopping plaza off Jeffrey so parking can be tough but at least they're on the less busy side. The restaurant is clean and simple inside. We came for their weekday lunch which is $29.95, but their dinner/weekend/holiday price is $38.95 or $54.95 for their wagyu upgrade. Like most all you can eat places, you get 90 minutes to eat. Since lunch ends at 3pm and they do last call at 2:30, they shouldn't really take reservations past 1pm but they do. We were seated right away when we arrived and got down to business! For the broth, you can choose one or two, so we chose shabu shabu and sukiyaki. All of the meat is ordered through your waiter and so is hot tea and ice cream. Everything else is self serve. During lunch they have 3 beef and 1 pork option, which isn't a lot of variety but it makes ordering easy. My favorite cuts were the short plate and chuck eye. Our waitress gave us a plate of wagyu chuck eye as an apology for forgetting our order which was nice. To be honest, the wagyu wasn't that impressive. They have a good selection of fresh veggies in their "farmers market" section. I liked their wagyu beef curry even though there wasn't a lot of beef in it. I also liked their rice machine that plops white rice out for you. The only downside to this place is that there isn't a lot of variety when it comes to the meats and they don't include drinks with your meal besides tea or water. He was SO welcoming and friendly, he could've joined us & we would've loved it. He said he was from the Arcadia location. There was not a massive selection but it was large enough for us. VERY fresh food, they explained how everything works & how to order, and the rice dispenser added a little fun. I've been a longtime fan of the MoMo Paradise in Rowland Heights, so I was pretty excited when they finally opened a location here in Irvine. They took over the former space that used to be Shabu Shabu House and Hometown Restaurant (one of my go-to Taiwanese spots), so even though it's a bummer to see those restaurants gone, I'm glad it's been replaced with a brand that I am already a fan of. And thankfully, the MoMo quality that other locations are known for are still present at this new spot. This is an AYCE shabu shabu spot with a 90-minute dining limit, and you get two different options for dinner: the MoMo Experience ($38.95), which includes a selection of beef and pork cuts, or the Wagyu Experience ($54.95), which adds more premium wagyu beef options. (I'm pretty sure the Rowland location used to offer additional options like chicken at one point, but it looks like that may have been phased out with their updated menu). The meat quality is excellent...everything is sliced thin for optimal shabu cooking so it cooks quickly and stays tender. Like most places of this nature, you order meats through your server, while all the veggies, noodles, and other add-ins are self-serve at their "Farmer's Market." And if you're feeling indecisive about what broth to pick, you can choose up to two (the lineup includes shabu shabu, sukiyaki, tonkotsu, and tomato). My go-to combo is usually shabu shabu and sukiyaki as it allows me to go back-and-forth between something a little more clean and light vs the sweeter taste the sukiyaki provides. Although the vege selection is definitely more limited compare to some others, they have the essentials. What a great new spot in town! I was one of the fortunate ones to be able to attend their private dining experience ruin their soft opening. Upon entering this restaurant you are greeted by many friendly staff members and I was able to get a seat right away. Our advisor aka waitress Taylor is great. She is very knowledgeable and all the dishes and gave us great recommendations on which items and which sauce is to pair with. My husband and I got the tonkatsu soup base as well as the sukiyaki soup base. Both are absolutely fresh and quite tasty. As for the protein we got AYCE chuck eye, short plate, eye of round, and kurobota pork shoulder. The chuck eye was absolutely my favorite. Lean with a bit of fat. My husband likes the kurobota pork shoulder. We also added the AYCE drink for around $3.50 and it was fun to make your own drinks. My husband mixed Tokyo melon and Lemon Lime and it tasted just like our melon drinks from Japan. I opted for the Oolong passion fruit tea with a scoop of lychee jelly. YUM! The side bar includes veggies, tofu, corn, leafy greens, pumpkin, and various fish or pork meatballs. All delicious. Taylor even recommended the Wagyu beef curry over rice. Cool thing is their fresh rice dispenser where you can select how many grams of rice you want to have. Their free range pasteurized egg was delicious. Nice creamy yolk that dip your cooked protein in. Absolutely made the meat even more tender and creamy to enjoy. There's also dipping sauces such as gomu and ponzu. I'm my opinion just dipping the meat in tonkotsu soup was already flavorful enough. Our overall dining experience was 90 minutes and it was quite good. We were so excited to try this place out since we recognized the name from our trip to Japan, and the location we went to there was fantastic. For our first visit, we made an appointment and decided to try the more affordable "Momo Experience" along with the Drink Garden (unlimited drinks). First off, the drink selection is fantastic. Their boba-like drinks are very unique and tasty, and they also have a soda fountain. We stuck with the 3 beef options of Chuck Eye, Short Plate, and Eye of Round. Eye of round having less fat, but sliced smaller for easier consumption. Short Plate has more fat and more tender. Chuck Eye is right in the middle, having some fat and just the right amount of tenderness. For our broth, we chose to go with Sukiyaki (sweet soy) and Tomato on our first visit, but when we came back at a later time with a larger party, we were able to try the Tonkotsu (pork base) and Shabu Shabu (just kombu). From light broth to strong, it would be Shabu Shabu - Tomato - Tonkotsu - Sukiyaki. The Sukiyaki comes with a dark orange yolk egg, just like Japan! It's a bit strong, so I would advise to get Sukiyaki along with a lighter broth. Their self-serve bar is fantastic and is constantly being refilled and cleaned. There's even a cool steamed white rice dispenser that weighs and drops rice into a bowl below at the touch of a button. We pleasantly enjoyed the buta (pork) udon salad at the front of the salad bar. The staff at Mo Mo Paradise is top notch. They were very excited to explain their menu and all our options. I first stopped by in December hoping to buy gift cards for friends, but they didn't have any available yet. It seemed like they were still getting set up, so I didn't think much of it at the time. A couple weeks later, we came back for lunch. We didn't have a reservation but figured we could just wait for a table. When we arrived, we were told it was reservation-only, which felt a bit confusing since there were quite a few open tables. They eventually seated us in a corner. During the meal, the sunlight coming through the window made that table pretty uncomfortable and there were no window shades either. Probably because the restaurant is newly opened. The overall experience just didn't feel very smooth. The self-serve area for veggies and noodles also kept running low and wasn't being refilled consistently. The meat quality was just okay--not really anything special compared to other locations and restaurants. I'm not sure if it was because they had just opened, but things didn't feel fully organized yet. Restaurant is clean, self-serve area was well stocked, meat quality is good, and there's plenty of seating. Greeted at the door by a friendly hostess but it ends there. Unfortunately, service has been sub-par both times I've visited. After the first plates of meat were put down, our party went about 35 minutes without anyone checking in, refilling meat, and letting the soup base boil down, yet right at the one-hour mark we were promptly told our time was up and asked to settle the bill before finishing. Our original server also ended his shift without any handoff, which clearly impacted service and there was nobody to flag down. Disappointing service especially for an OC restaurant, and compared to any other Momo Paradise overseas when trying to hold the same reputation but nonetheless the food quality is good so I'll give them that. read more

The service was amazing--our server consistently checked on us and kept our broth refilled. The restaurant was a good size and decorated in a modern style. We chose tonkatsu and sukiyaki for our broths and mostly ordered beef, with chuck eye being our favorite. They also offer hot drops for those who enjoy a spicy kick. We ended our meal with ice cream; the options were vanilla, strawberry, and mint chocolate. I went with vanilla. read more

Momo Paradise is a solid spot for AYCE shabu-shabu. They offer an all-you-can-eat option, and you can add an AYCE drink package that includes a soda fountain with some unique sodas, plus a milk tea and fruit tea station. The basic menu includes a selection of four meats, along with access to a salad bar and a rice dispenser machine. Everything is convenient and well-organized. At the end of the meal, they offer ice cream--vanilla, green tea, and one other flavor I can't quite remember. I was driving by and this place caught my eye. After finding out the place is a shabu place we decided we had to try this place. We were greeted by a server and seated almost immediately. Our server (i think his name was Kenny?) was phenomenal! Attentive and brought us everything we needed. They had a self-serve bar where we could get vegetables and seafood for our table and a drink bar with an assortment of drinks. The vegetables were fresher than most shabu places. The star of the place was the meat. The meat was very fresh and tasted great after boiling in the tonkatsu broth. The only downside for us was the hotpots were communal as opposed to having your own shabu pot for each person. On the side note I really loved rhe beef curry! read more

It was my first time here at Momo, and honestly I will definitely be coming back. The food here is great, and so is the customer service. Kenny was so personable and funny. He was super patient with us and very knowledgeable about the food. We asked a lot of questions because one of our friends has an allergy and another is really picky, but he really took the time to answer all our questions and didn't make us feel rushed even though it was really busy. The food was delicious. We loved the chuck eye and Kurabota pork! Also definitely get the pasteurized egg! It's a game changer! The sukiyaki base was my favorite, and it was super easy to find parking. Love how friendly the staff is, the music and the coziness of it all. Definitely coming back when it rains! I've had their other location (Rowland Heights) bookmarked for ages so when I heard a new one opened up in Irvine, I knew it was finally time to try it. The interior was very clean and bright. Service was pretty attentive and we were seated within 10 minutes. The server did a great job explaining how to order and gave us her recommendation on the meats. We decided to opt just for the MoMo experience, as I felt like the Wagyu experience pricing and value would be better at another spot. They also have an ayce drink garden which I thought was pretty cool, but was a little bummed that you had to pay a little extra for it. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but I did feel like at around the same price point, there are other hotpot and shabu spots that offer more variety. If you don't need a large selection to choose from, then this spot might be suitable for you. I'm not sure if I'll be back soon unless my friends want to try it. || L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are Jeffrey Rd and Walnut Ave. -Located in the same plaza as 99 Ranch, HeyTea, Tofu King, Kaju Tofu, etc. -Parking is usually brutal here but we arrived around 8pm on Saturday and it was relatively easy to find parking || F O O D / D R I N K S || Meats for MoMo experience: Limited selection but I would say the meats were pretty fresh. Server was constantly asking us if we wanted more meat so it was nice to not have to flag them down for that. Farmer's Market: This is where you get your veggies, noodles, fishballs, and tofu. Unfortunately, they didn't have spinach which is my absolute favorite thing to grab at shabu, so I loaded up on the enoki mushrooms. They don't have any seafood options unless you count the fishballs. I think the Farmer's Market could be replenished better. At times, some things were empty. Drink Garden: Like I mentioned, I wish this was included but I ended up opting for it just to try it out. I think I really only liked the Oolong Tea that they had and I'd probably pass on adding the ayce drink garden option. Wagyu Curry Rice: It's pretty cool how they have a rice dispenser, it's more sanitary that way. Actually this was probably one of the best things that I had here, so I would recommend trying it. Sauces/Condiments: They leave Ponzu and Goma sauce at the table. It is open container so I do hope they do use new ones for each customer, otherwise that might be a bit unsanitary? There's really no sauce station, so if you like it simple, then this selection should be fine for you. read more
