Our family favorites are all their thin sliced meats, and there were many different options today. Beef belly wins our absolute favorite. Our favorite appetizer is their chicken karage, SO good. This review is unfortunately before we even got to eat here. Yesterday was supposed to be our first visit to 7 Sushi. I've been trying to get here for a while and finally had the chance, so I made a reservation directly through the restaurant's Yelp page and even received a confirmation. We showed up excited... only to find out they're closed on Mondays. You can imagine the disappointment on my family's faces--and yeah, I was pretty embarrassed, thinking I had messed something up. But I didn't. If a restaurant is closed on certain days, their reservation system shouldn't allow bookings or send confirmations for those days. Came with a group of 8 from my girlfriend's meetup group for a buy one get one free deluxe barbecue and sushi at 7 Japanese BBQ and Sushi in Irvine. We had reservations and once everyone was there we were seated at 2 tables. The server set up the iPad and explained how to order from it. In order to get the bogo deal everyone has to order a drink. So we ordered drinks on the iPad and sent the order. Then we started going through the Japanese BBQ items and sushi rolls. We ordered about 6 sushi rolls and 8 meats for round 1. The meats came out quickly. The bulgogi and brisket were enjoyed by everyone. Also pork and beef belly were quite tasty. Soon after the sushi rolls came to the table. We sampled crunchy California rolls, Hawaiian, Alaskan, rainbow, and shrimp rolls. We filled the barbecue with the rest of the meat and dug in. Round 2 was more brisket, bulgogi, pork and beef belly. Until everyone was nearly stuffed. Finished off with some smores and Gelato. Total came to $38 per person, for food, drinks, tax,and tip. A fantastic deal for AYCE Japanese BBQ and sushi. We came to this all you can eat Japanese BBQ and sushi restaurant because their buy one get one free deluxe tier ($49.99) offer sounded too good to pass up. They open at 5pm for dinner and when we arrived the restaurant was already busy but the wait time seemed more so due to being understaffed. It took longer than necessary to get seated. Once seated, the hostess explained how everything worked but after that we were on our own. There's a salad bar with pickled and fresh veggies but everything else is ordered through a tablet. The tablet makes ordering easy but they made mistakes on our orders and forgot items. The deluxe menu on their website lists more than what was actually available. There were no chicken options, bulgogi or DNA cut top blade. Their sliced top blade was the best cut but they ran out midway through our meal. The tare beef belly was the next best followed by the chuck cube. The shrimp was okay but not the freshest. Their sushi rolls were fresh and not bad even though they were mostly imitation crab meat and rice. The Shrimp Crunchy Roll, Alaska Roll, Seared Salmon Roll and Hot Night Roll were all pretty good for all you can eat. For the hot dishes, the chicken karaage, deep fried dumplings and original ramen were actually decent. If you need some rice with your meat, get the curry rice instead of white rice since they put the curry on the side anyway. Their dessert offerings include s'mores and gelato. The gelato was more like regular ice cream but the coffee and strawberry flavors were good. The s'mores were fun but nothing special. Came here for the BOGO deal than ends 10/31/2025 by making a reservation on Yelp. The deluxe menu is $49.99 per person and includes the salad bar, appetizers, grilled meat, sushi, and dessert. The salad bar had lettuce and peppers/mushrooms/zucchini that you can grill. For appetizers, we tried the braised beef tongue soup. The first few bowls were so delicious! Lots of tender beef! Subsequent bowls were smaller with less meat and less tender meat For meat, we tried the top blade DNA cut, brisket, beef belly, pork shoulder, chuck cube, squid, and shrimp. The top blade was the best! Some of the pieces were incredibly tender. Other pieces were a little drier/chewier. The chuck cube and shrimp were solid, but nothing special. The brisket, beef belly, and pork shoulder were pretty bad - dry and old-looking. The squid was flavorless - you really need to cook it long to get it crispy. We tried the eel roll and seared salmon roll. The pieces were small (although each roll come with 8 pieces), which is good since it would have been way too much food. There wasn't much fish, so the sushi was not very good For dessert, I tried the s'mores and the green tea ice cream. The s'mores was a fun idea to do at the grill! The green tea ice cream had a pretty good green tea flavor and was quite soft! Overall, the deluxe menu was pretty limited in terms of meat choices. We've been wanting to check out 7 Japanese BBQ, Sushi & Yakitori since they opened. Located at the corner of Culver and Barranca, this space was formerly an Island's so the interior is spacious. We visited on a Thursday night to celebrate two birthdays and to take advantage of their BOGO promotion. I informed the staff about the occasion we were celebrating and before we knew it two birthday balloons appeared out of nowhere! 7 offers $50 and $70 AYCE packages. I recommend starting your meal at their self serve salad bar and ordering appetizers (all orders are placed via tablet at your table). We opted for the Deluxe Tier and we tried most of their meats. Overall meat quality is good and my favorites were the Beef Belly, Pork Belly and Beef Top Blades. We also tried their Seared Salmon and Golden Trio Seven sushi rolls as well as their Tonkotsu Ramen...none were particularly memorable. We went on a weekday night and we had a reservation so we got seated right away. We got the base menu. They did seem like they were slightly understaffed. It would sometimes take a while for our server to come back to us, but since we can order on the iPad it was that big of a deal. The sides were good and I really liked their wasabi sauce with the meat! Meats: the brisket was just alright, not my favorite. I preferred the top blade options more. Sushi: surprisingly good and fresh, one order for a roll does come out with 8 sushi so it gets pretty filling. A good variety of rolls! Soups: miso soup was just straight miso soup, no tofu, green onions, seaweed or anything so it was a little underwhelming for me. The beef tongue soup I actually really liked! It was light, refreshing and perfect with a little bit of black pepper added. I will say the chunks of beef tongue in my soup was mostly fat. However, we didn't mind and set those off to the side to dry a little and used that to grease up our grill which worked out perfectly!! It also had some sliced radish!! Sides/veggie bar: a good selection of a variety of veggies to grill! I love the mushrooms! The side dishes are not very consistently though. They had these cucumbers and pickled radish that I really liked but halfway through the meal, I went to get more and they were gone. It was a bit disappointing since it paired so well with the meats. The veggies all looked really fresh and the salad was good! Dessert: free ice cream by the front! Just let the workers know which flavor and they'll scoop you some. This is my second visit but I came in with low expectations based on some of the recent mixed reviews. I was especially worried about the service and meat quality because we were introducing some friends to this place for the first time. We came on a Sunday night at 5:45 and ended up being pleasantly surprised at the meat quality especially with their BOGO Deluxe promotion. Because it was so early and less busy on a Sunday, our service was pretty good with food coming quickly and servers checking on us and even changed the grill once. The top blade diced and top blade dna cut were consistently good. I enjoyed the beef belly, too...but some plates were better than others. When it's too fatty, just cook it longer. Pork jowl was also quite good. I'm sad they discontinued the love love roll and pink lady, both were sushi without rice and very good. We ordered the hot night roll and it was pretty good. I ended the meal with some toasted marshmallows/s'more's and two flavors of ice cream. The sign says gelato but tastes more like ice cream to me...but I enjoyed it anyway. Overall a great deal and I was happy my friends also enjoyed it. If this was $49.99, I'd probably give it a 3.5-4 star. However given the BOGO promotion, it deserves a 5 star! read more

I'm pretty disappointed by my experience here at 7. I came tonight with a reservation for 2. We were seated immediately and got started on ordering. We got meats, sides, and desserts. Firstly, the meat quality was not good. Most of the meat was pretty tough and unappetizing. I struggled to chew a lot of the items. The rest of the sides were just okay. Nothing terrible but not good. What really made this meal unpleasant was the service. We could not get a hold of anyone. We tried waving people down, using the call button on the iPad, asking the employees cleaning the table.... We got ignored every single time. For our second round of food, we ordered several side dishes, including a bowl of ramen. We waited a total of 45 minutes and flagged down three separate people to ask about when it was coming. Every time they responded with "I'll check in on that for you." It never came. We ended up giving up and left hungry after dessert since we couldn't get our hot order. Another really concerning situation was about the gelato. I picked chocolate. As I was eating it I saw marshmallows. But then I realized there were almonds!! Now I'm not allergic, but I was deeply concerned that the "chocolate" gelato was a Rocky Road that contains nuts. No signage or anything indicating nuts. I always drive by this place and never tried but so glad I finally did. I came here to eat beef tongue and the 20% off discount but I learned that it is only for the deluxe menu and beef tongue is only on premium menu. I thought premium menu was pretty pricey but I really enjoyed the beef tongue they were nice thicked and paired so well with the wasabi. For the premium you also get snow crab which was really good too. Overall this space has such a nice atmosphere and the food quality was very good for a AYCE. I kinda forgot it was AYCE because of how fresh everything was. The only cut of meat I didnt like was the rib eye for some reason that was very dry. I find myself getting sick of the grilled meat because it's so heavy and oily, so having the option to have sushi was great. I also love the gelato they have too. It's so tasty and such a great treat after the meal. The meat quality was alright. Granted I ordered the cheapest of their levels, so I can't expect too much when I am not ordering their high end. The sauces are at the table so you can fill your sauce dish how you want. Service was just okay. Food: Great value, especially with the 30% off Deluxe menu through a Yelp reservation. I love a good balanced meal, and this menu really covers everything including my two favorites, sushi and KBBQ. There's also a salad bar and even a gelato bar, which was a nice touch. From the Deluxe menu, my favorite was the thinly sliced beef belly, simple but so flavorful. I also thought the wasabi sauce was interesting and added a unique kick. I wouldn't recommend the corn cheese fondue though, it had too much cream and not enough cheese, so it didn't really feel like a fondue. I misunderstood the deal, where if we get the normal tier ayce, we would get 30% off. We went for the premier tier and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food/quality. The sea scallops, toro, uni, and amaebi were no longer on the menu. Skewers menu expanded but is considered and add-on at $2/Skewers. Hot sake was no longer part of the unlimited drink. Wagyu was no longer a premium meat option. Super bummed, as we were telling our family how good the premium menu was and the menu was revamped when we dined here tonight. I knew the old price and menu was too good to be true. The new menu now includes oysters and is a little cheaper than I remembered. Kids are half off and kids under 5 eat for free. Shio-dare is basically like a brine--like salt water. - Our party had 6 adults and 1 baby (in a high chair) and we were seated at a table with 1 grill. Which definitely wasn't enough table space if there is a 90min time limit. And we basically can't put food within arms reach of the baby or else he would grab it. We had to wait awhile for the meat to cook. We asked if there was a tray table we could possibly use as an extension for the table, but they didn't come back with a yes or no. So maybe they forgot? Overall there are areas that need improvement. To be honest, I would also say they are Japanese BBQ-inspired but not fully a Japanese BBQ spot. Quality of the meat is definitely above average, tender and flavorful. Top blade and brisket were the winners, with pork belly a close second/third. Service was prompt and because you order by using a iPad at your table, you don't have to wait until your server stops by. Interior is pretty clean but with so many grills, it gets a bit smoky. In terms of pricing, the 50% off for kids is 50% off a regular adult price (if you reserve via Yelp). There seemed to be some confusing on that but it is not 50% off the already child pricing. I went with the Deluxe. There were so many items that made my tummy happy. Each table has an I Pad where you place your orders. This is nice because you don't have to wait for your server to come around. I was ordering Sushi to eat while the BBQ is cooking. You can even make Smores for dessert. There is a deluxe tier for $49.99/adult and $24.99/kid and a premium tier for $69.99/adult and $34.99/kid. The special for Father's Day was that fathers get 50% off on the premium tier. Seniors were also 50% off on the premium. As for the deluxe, it's 20% of entire bill. We went with premium tier for the special which includes beer and sake. We order everything on an iPad and food came out quick. There are some premium items that limit 1 order per guest; snow crab leg, Beef Tongue, Wagyu, Rib Eye Prime, Angus Beef - boneless short rib, Amaebi, Toro, and JP Scallops. Everything was good and premium sushi was delish. The only exception was the yakitori. The chicken and beef were not flavorful and beef was a tad dried. My only complaint was that it was hot inside the restaurant. For a bbq restaurant, the AC has to be strong. We ended our meal with peanut and hazelnut ice cream and s'mores. I was just happy with the deluxe price that includes Wagyu and Amebi along with other premium items. This restaurant is huge and can easily accommodate large parties. I'm thinking of celebrating my next birthday at this restaurant. After all, no one has a bad time when there is good barbecue and sushi. We shared a bottle of sake and first went for a round of sashimi and all the premium sushi that is only included in the deluxe option. The quality is superb for all you can place. For the barbecue, we only tried the premium selections which were offered one order per person. Honestly, that in itself was more than enough for the three of us. They give generous portions of each order compared to other places. I like how everything can be ordered through a tablet and you do not have to flag down a server every time you want more items. My mom and aunt gave this place 10 out of 10 and that's a huge rating coming from Asian mom and auntie! You know how picky and critical they are with food. Drove past here multiple times and wanted to try it out with my mom for a late birthday lunch. To start off the customer service was amazing. Everyone was super nice and informative and we enjoyed their presence. Unfortunately it comes down to the food just being okay. It really isn't terrible but nothing about it stands out. I ordered a plate of brisket, beef belly, and something called top blade. The beef belly was super fatty, barely any lean meat on it and it showed when trying to enjoy it. It wasn't bad but just way too fatty. The top blade was probably the best out of the three and was enjoyable. The brisket was fine but so insanely small to the point, it felt like I wasn't even chewing meat. The grills are interesting since they are made in a way where its actually hard to burn the grill. The only thing is the fire isn't as strong so for fattier meats like the beef belly, it doesnt get a good crisp to the fat, instead just turns it almost grey unless done properly. The sushi was definitely not good though. The masago and eel were fine but that tuna was seriously too fishy and just not fresh. The shrimp had a rubbery texture to it almost as well. The miso soup really just tastes like water with a hint of miso flavor. The side dishes were okay, the kimchi is fermented with almost a gingery flavor? I'm not sure. The cucumbers were fine and same for the radish. Their curry side was also little bit watery but was fine for the most part. Their salad was definitely the best part of the whole meal though because of the dressing. The offer smores at the end of your meal which was definitely a cool plus to everything. They also had self serve ice cream at the front that guests were allowed to grab for themselves. We had the opportunity to come in during an off time so it wasn't busy and we also were able to be apart of their 20% promotion. Note they say there is no time limit to guests which is nice and will only end when they are done serving for lunch. Overall the place was okay. Just okay. I did not like the sushi. The rice did not feel like sushi rice and the quality of the fish was subpar. I thought most of the fish was not fresh. This applies to both rolls and nagiri. With rolls it was less apparent if it was a cooked roll. The bbq was better and I did like a few of the meats. My favorite had to be the lamb, then the pork jowl, and sliced top blade. Tasted pretty good and the lamb was not too gamey. Service was good and you can order unlimited items on their iPad except yakitori. Had a reservation for 7:30 pm on a Thursday but it was just as a precaution. This place seems to be very new, not sure how long the wait is on a weekend. The restaurant is really clean and the grills are very new! the marinated meats didn't burn the grill that badly. I like how every table had its own spotlight on the grill. Overall the food was ok. We really only came to try it out because there was a promo 20% off. Standout items were the marinated lamb and the pork jowl and I really liked the salad bc of the dressing LOL The miso soup was bland as well as the beef tongue soup. :c the quality of beef was not the best and some didn't look the freshest. The sushi was ok but they did this thing where it looked like they purposefully dressed up the raw fish with oil to make it look nice but honestly it made it look weirdly glossy. I did really like both the wasabi sauce and the yakiniku sauce that they gave us. Appreciated the ice cream at the end though! a good end to the meal. I understand how this place always has promotion going on. We came for the deluxe bogo promotion and it was a let down. The deluxe was $55 per person but since it was bogo so I wasn't too mad about it. The meat quality wasn't bad but very limited choices. The sushi rolls were good but limited to rolls only, no sashimi or nigiri. Not sure if the menu got taken out due to the promotion going on or if that's their regular menu. Overall quality wasn't bad but wasn't mind blowing just not a lot of choices for "ayce". Also the veggie/sauce bar was looking pretty sad. read more

My wife and I came here a few weeks ago and honestly, I was very impressed. We were seated immediately, the booth was clean, and our waitress was very kind. They had a bar where you walk up and serve yourself veggies, salad, sides,etc and that part was okay, I felt the sides could have been fresher. We ordered a rainbow roll, ramen, rice, miso soup, and different meats. The food was fresh and enjoyable. At the end we were given a scoop of ice cream and that was delicious. It's been a while since it had a Japanese BBQ, so I was excited to give this spot a try. I tried their deluxe menu which costs $50 per person for all you can eat. Each table has a tablet that you can order what you want from the menu. Service is pretty fast after you place your order and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I went with each of their beef options (beef belly, top blade beef brisket, and chuck cube), pork belly, shrimp, and also got a crunchy roll, and golden trio 7 roll. To start, the sushi I thought was pretty standard. Each roll comes with 8 pieces and they tasted fresh like they were just made. Solid overall. All the meats themselves were also pretty good. I think maybe the beef belly stood out the most as being delicious. I wish I had more side dishes but I didnt see on the tablet where the option to order the assorted vegetables, kimchi, cucumber was. There's a self serve veggie section, all the pickle veggies were really good. There's salad and a variety of mushrooms for grilling. There's good selection of sushi rolls but all orders come with 8 pieces. This means you can't try more rolls if you come with a small group. Service was just okay. You have to put in more efforts to get server's attention. They wouldn't automatically change your grill, you will need to request if you want your grill changed. read more

Originally dinner for two is about $100. We tried the BoGo promotion which was buy one get one free deluxe AYCE for two ($53 with tax). It included meats, appetizers, and sushi. Only thing not included was alcohol lol. P good deal ! Good quality meats. They don't have a time limit. If you go during dinner, they do last call at 9:30pm. They're pretty quick when you use the tablet to call for waiter service and they constantly check on you (clearing out plates, etc.). Friendly and excellent service. We came for the BOGO deal that ends this October, but honestly, we wouldn't return without it. The restaurant is spacious, with an ice cream station and a veggie area, but the meat selection felt underwhelming. There were only a few pork and beef options to choose from, our favorite being the DNA cut. The sushi was decent and I appreciated that they had s'mores and fried buns also as a dessert. I don't think it's worth the full $50 price tag, $25 feels much more reasonable for the quantity and quality. We had reserve a table for 2 for 5:15, and was seated within minutes. Highly recommend having a reservation as they give discounts if you do. You order everything through the tablet, even drinks. This is our first time and we were highly impressed with the food quality. We picked the deluxe tier as the options were enough for us. We had the brisket which was so thin and tender but so good!(sadly we only had 1 order of the brisket) Beef steak had good thickness which was also tender! Chuck roll was good as well. And the sushi selection was pretty impressive as well! I had the tuna nigiri, salmon nigiri, unagi nigiri, yellowtail nigiri, baked salmon. All was pretty tasty. We had the ice cream and buns with condensed milk as dessert, both are good specially the buns. I suggest, try to order as much as you can as it gets busy and order takes a long time to arrive. Highly recommend coming in before 6 pm as it gets busy. We did come across a little problem, on our second round placing an order, the meats took over 30 minutes to come out, the sushi came within 10 minutes but the meat we had to follow up two different times, in the end they said some of the meats we ordered were out so that was a bummer since we were waiting total of like 40 minutes before they told us about it. They also have ice cream and smores as a dessert option. Staff are friendly, clean place but hopefully meats are well stocked next time. Mid to be honest... We saw the deal on social media for the deluxe BOGO so we recorded to check it out. It was $50 for the deluxe but due to BOGO came out to $25/person. If it wasn't for the great deal we would have rated it less tbh. The meats... only meat we liked was the miso beef belly. The rest were mid/eh. Heads up. They only have 2 marinated/seasoned meats on their menu. The sauces- 2 sauces, and yakiniku and a wasabi one. Both were not great tbh. We asked for ponzu which is a better sauce than theirs tbh. The sushi- the sushi/rolls were the classic type. Rolls are thick/huge. They're the filler type that you find at basic "American" sushi places. Think the sushi made up for the meat though.
