Today, we revisited The Westampton Family Diner for lunch because my husband and I realized that it's been quite a while since we ate there. We both got cheesecakes and the prices were fantastic. Our sandwiches came with soup. We both got Italian wedding, which was delicious and very flavorful. The french fries were delicious and crispy and perfectly cooked, we got a side of brown gravy to dip our french fries and the brown gravy tasted good Our server, Lindsay was wonderful and very attentive the place was spotless clean and many tables were turned over quickly, but you could tell that the clientele are mainly regulars, which is nice to see. Stephanie was very nice and it was enjoyable to talk with her. Everyone is very pleasant here and you can tell they really look after one another, especially the customers which is really nice to see. My grandparents used to have a restaurant for over 45 years and it's nice to see that old-fashioned manners and taking care of customers at the forefront when many places don't act like that these days. You wouldn't have to worry about any bad experience at this restaurant they really take care of you and then they never rush you but they make sure you have everything you need. I had 2 people on separate occasions swear by this place and how good their food was; so i had to go since I'm 5 minutes away. Ehhh. It's okay. Service was pretty slow for a small crowd. Food took a long time and was maybe a little above room temp, not really hot. Coffee was good. Sandwich was alright (pork roll egg and cheese). It was not bad, but I'll probably stick to my regular breakfast spots. Maybe lunch and dinner are better, maybe I'll give those a try at some point down the road? This is our go to for breakfast. My boyfriend always gets the 3 eggs over easy with home fries. I always try something different when I go. The last time I got the pumpkin pancakes because, if there is something pumpkin on the menu, I am going to get it. Good amount of pancakes and great flavor...they just seemed like they might have been sitting for a few before they came out. They had that spongy pancake feel as opposed to that crisp yet fluffy texture. But overall pretty good. Their coffee is always good and hot. Service is always fast and pleasant. One of my go to places in town. I go here a lot with my fiancée, best friend, and co-workers. Everyone there is friendly and they make sure you get served in a timely manner, even if it's during busy hours. The breakfast menu with some of the best out here! Their omelettes are always good with a good selection of different ones. I've been here for lunch as well and the specials they have for lunch are just as good. While in New Jersey visiting my fiance's family for the holidays, we went to Westampton Diner one morning for breakfast as my fiance had been wanting me to try a diner in New Jersey since it is considered the diner capital of the world. True story! Because of this, I felt like Westampton had big expectations to fill and it really fell short. The first nail in the coffin was how unfriendly the staff was, literally every single person. The two women at the host station hardly acknowledged us and our waiter didn't smile at all and gave us one word answers. It was so awkward anytime he came to our booth. The diner was out of bacon and biscuits and we were told they didn't have vanilla ice cream. We weren't sure if that meant they were out of it or just don't carry it, but either way, how can you be a diner and not have vanilla ice cream for milkshakes? I orderd the country fried steak and eggs and the piece of meat had a ton of fatty pieces and I did not eat much of it for the price tag. Overall, with so many other diner options, I don't think I'd recommend this one or that I'd go back while in town. read more

Food was good but gave this place two stars bc of how dirty it was. We came here first thing in the morning and I was surprised to see how unkept and filthy the floors were. It looked as though no one has swept & mopped the floors in weeks! The booths were torn and under our table there was food and crumbs. We had to ask for a new mug bc the original one we got had lipstick on it. I'm actually surprised we even stayed to eat! Our waitress was very nice and food/coffee was good but that's about it. I probably wouldn't come here again. If the owner reads this, I suggest doing daily visits to confirm the staff is cleaning properly and have the ceiling tiles with the water marks replaced. read more

I've never heard of Westhampton Family Diner. I haven't ever been to New Jersey until today. The staff was wonderful, friendly, and efficient for our tour bus full of passengers from Tennessee. Everyone on board enjoyed their meal and only had good compliments for the owner as we left. I ordered the Tortellini Alfredo with chicken, bacon, and tomato. It was absolutely scrumptious and the portion was huge! I'm a southern gal where hospitality and taste are on the top of my list. This restaurant exceeded my expectations especially for such a large group. In fact, so much so that this is my first review ever for a restaurant. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because Kirsten our waitress treated us well and tried to do the right thing... I have come here a few times but the last time was the worst... I had the meatloaf dinner and my wife had some kind of a chicken dinner that had an extreme amount of garlic... She wasn't able to eat the meal and only had a few bites... We both complained to our waitress and she told us that we couldn't return the meal for something different because their policy was to charge for another meal... Come on the food was overly seasoned and any customer should have been given another meal free of charge... To make matters worse I told the hostess and our waitress that it was my wife's birthday before we were seated... Atmosphere:  I wasn't the diner to be so big.  It was a big restaurant building with plenty of booths, a full-length bar, and a dessert case.  For some reason, I had pictured it to be much smaller. Coffee: The waitress brewed hot coffee, and it was good.  There was nothing unusual or unique about it, but it tasted good. Food: The Westampton Diner has a lot of choices, and the menu is massive.  To be honest, I wasn't expecting it to have that many choices, and I had no idea what I wanted.  I've been back a couple of times since and my favorite was the steak and eggs.  My brother had ordered it the first time we went, and it looked good, so I decided to give it a shot the second time, and I'm happy I did. The portion size is huge.  The steak itself is roughly a pound, and with the over-easy eggs, it's definitely a lot.  It also came with hashbrown and toast. I had run about 10 miles in the morning and was still full. Service: Both times I've been, the service at the Westampton Diner was fast.  The waitress refilled our drinks quickly, and the food came out quickly.  On top of that, the waitress was extremely friendly always had a story to tell us when she returned to our table. Cost: For the steak and eggs, and coffee, the cost was $15.  The portion size was massive. Overall Summary/Would I Come Back? Westampton Family Diner sits at the outskirts of downtown Mt. Holly, standing sentry for all the traffic entering or leaving that historic burg. In the middle of the last century it was about the only place to enjoy a sit down meal that wasn't grandma's house. Those days have come and gone, and WFD has definitely seen its heyday pass it by. Now, the center of town is coming back to life with new money and better ideas, while the old diner has yet to catch on to the new energy at the core of the city. Really hope it can take its cues from the newer places nearby that are reinventing themselves and becoming pleasant and interesting joints for drinking and eating. It would be a cultural shame to lose its place as the purveyor of huge plates of hash, flash and dash for the masses that it once was, and could be again with some new ideas. When I was there earlier in the week for a quick breakfast, the first impression was of a place full of old folks both customers and staff. It felt downright geriatric. The countertop formica was worn and exhausted. The equipment was several generations behind state of the art. Dust and grime collected in the corners. I felt a wave of fatigue overcome me before reaching the counter stool. Coffee was required immediately. Despite the aging optics, my simple breakfast of Coffee and toasted Corn Muffin was quite satisfying. The java was hot and brewed with decent enough beans to alert my buds to an awakening. The Muffin was homemade and the largest I had seen in many years. Yes. It was fresh and very tasty. Its location is across Rt. 541 from the court, and thus very convenient for my early arrival to beat traffic approach to work. I will return on occasion, and hope that they can examine the new places opening up in town and adopt new style and menu to keep up with the changing tastes of the new age. read more

I stopped in for breakfast with a co-worker on a late Friday morning and the place was busy. That's a good sign. They had just mopped the floors because the bleach smell and the slippery floors were evident. Upon entering the diner, it's quite charming in the front and then there is seating in the back. The diner had a very large and creative selection of omelets. I have no doubt you'll find an omelet you'll like. I decided to change it up and not get the basic omelet and I ordered the prosciutto omelet. Very Tasty! Never had that in an omelet before and worth the wait. As a coffee snob, the coffee was ok. I noticed the floor under our table was dirty. It had lots of crumbs and a couple of croutons. Croutons in the morning? Maybe it was from last night? The service was slow but friendly. We had to wait to long for our food to arrive and the table next to ours who arrived after us received their food 10 minutes before we did. This diner was a disappointment. We ordered soup appetizer, French onion and chicken something. Not hot so both were sent back to be heated. Came back , still not hot. Sent back again. Entrees: turkey and dressing; eggplant parm; hot sliced roast beef with gravy and fries. All 3 meals came out room temperature. Sent back and asked for hot. All 3 were nuked making the spaghetti noodles/eggplant and the dressing gummy. Roast beef .. Dry and tough. Salads were good. Felt sorry for the waitress as this was a kitchen snafu. Do not come here with high expectations. Come here because you're on a budget or there's nowhere else. The food isn't terrible, but it's on the lower end of diner food as it goes. My waitress was nice as was all of the staff. I had to send back scrambled eggs because they were too runny. Other than that the food was "ok." You get what you pay for here. Everything about this place was completely awful!!! For starters its laid out really weird and everything inside is old and dingy looking. It was filthy inside and several tables were just left dirty. If you look at the service station in the long narrow part of the restaurant you can see 4 inches of dirt underneath of it along with spider webs. If you took a look at the floor it looks like it was never cleaned and btw is that a recycled burger king floor? The seats were very uncomfortable I felt like I was sitting on a worn box spring. Couldn't tell if the waitresses were kidding or really fighting over who's taking tables and one even brought up the fact if the tables were clean they wouldn't have an issue. The food was also awful! I ordered a fried egg sandwich with well done scrapple and Swiss cheese (don't judge me). What I got was an over cooked rubbery egg and under cooked scrapple with no cheese. Not a fan home home fries so I got regular fries. They too were also disgusting. I would bet the farm they were cooked in oil that should of been tossed out days ago. Service was just ok not great especially since the sandwich was ordered wrong and orange juice was brought out instead of Apple. I guess if you're arguing or horsing around with the other staff it would be hard to get the order right. Normally I like to give places second chances but judging from the cleanliness of this place I'll be lucky if I have a second chance of waking up tomorrow morning. Love the eggplant parmigiana dinner. Super crispy eggplant with a delicious marinara. Spinach added to the dish is genius. The chef at Family Diner is the only one who does it like this! Everything a great diner should be. Plentiful, delicious, homemade food at really reasonable prices. The exterior and interior just looked dirty. Some reviews said don't be fooled by the facade but when I feel as though as roach will crawl out at any minute, it's hard to ignore. After talking with the waittress who hardly knew the menu, I got the French toast w/ turkey sausage and my bf got the reuben. The french toast was completely bland and tasted like it was cooked in 5 cups of butter. No sugar in the batter, no vanilla, cinnamon...it tasted like toasted bread. The turkey sausage was overcooked and tough to eat. My bf's reuben however was veryyyy tasty. The meat was a little tough but it wasn't too terrible. We also got a blueberry muffin which was dry, dry and dry. The place is cheap though. Our total was only $15. I wouldn't recommend. They either have an inexperienced cook or an old tired one.
