Yes, their nursing program was over-saturated (too many applicants, not enough advisors), but it ran like a well-oiled machine regardless. In my current school, my advisor registered me late and almost signed me up for a course I'd already taken, which I had to find out for myself halfway through the semester. They didn't depend on me to supervise every step of every transition like switching majors the way other universities do. Soooo much information is available in your student portal that I almost never had to step foot in the admin hall (though as a new student, navigating their sites was like entering a labyrinth). I was shocked to learn having a waiting list was not a universal thing and they actually notify you once a spot opens, as opposed to my current school who makes you log in and check several times a day... every day... and then still gives unspecific error messages. They use Canvas which has SIGNIFICANTLY less issues than Blackboard. Yes, I have had some troublesome professors but every issue was handled beautifully by the administration, and even so it only came to this point twice. Some of the best teachers I've ever had the blessing to encounter are tucked away in here. I miss my professors, my peers, the atmosphere, I miss everything! I'm honestly considering dropping my Bachelor's just to go back to PGCC and finish my ADN. When it comes to college, bigger is not always better. PG is not perfect but they were deemed best school in MD to get your RN for a reason.

Giants verse Commanders -- Season Opener…read more It was a crisp Sunday morning, we arrived early for tailgating and pregaming before the game would take place that afternoons. The air was charged and filled with excitement. We all wondered which team would be the victor, who'd bring home the first win of the season?! The food in the club house for season ticket holders was good "game day food." There were soft drinks, hot dogs, other snacks and treats. Before we went to the stadium, we enjoyed music from a band at one event and from a DJ at another. There was also a BBQ event, to decide who had the best food. A perfect mother and son day of football. All in all, it was a great day at the park with the grid iron gladiators.

What has been most frustrating is the unnecessary administrative burden placed on me to correct what appears to be an internal error, all while facing enrollment deadlines and uncertainty about whether I can continue my education. Instead of being able to focus on coursework, I have spent significant time navigating conflicting communication and appeals processes. As a student, you expect challenges to come from academics, not from avoidable administrative issues that jeopardize your enrollment. This experience has left a poor impression of UMGC's student support and financial aid processes, especially for new students trying to begin their programs successfully.

We were so lucky he agreed to drive well outside of his usual area to perform. His illusions were mesmerizing, and he expertly handled a room full of inquisitive and skeptical kids by getting most of them involved in his performance. He gave a great message in the end of the performance also, drawing on the themes of inclusion and acceptance from the Harry Potter stories, which the adults present also mentioned as being a highlight.
