Steak with fried oyster mushrooms and fries with a truffle aioli
    Karen A.

We sat at the bar area which was nice and you don't need reservations, staffing is limited so some wait time to order but not too bad and understandable. The food was ok. I enjoyed my pasta but if I had to nitpick I would say the bowl is a bit awkward to cut into two chicken breasts. Would have preferred the chicken to be cut for that kind of plating. The steak was precut with some fried oyster mushrooms and fries which can be a pretty heavy dish. Definitely would have benefited from some freshness or acidity to break through all the fat. The truffle aioli was extremely thick and definitely the mayo flavor slightly overpowering the truffle flavor.

Got a recommendation to try this place for dinner so walked over from my hotel. Located in the restaurant row area of the casino, it's elegant inside with all white/ light interior. Seated right away, ordered an old fashioned while I looked over the menu. Decided on a Caesar salad and the fettuccine Alfredo add chicken Salad was good, pretty standard Alfredo was delicious and chicken was cooked well. Really tasty. Drink was also good, a normal old fashioned. Always surprised when they can't make a decent old fashioned Service was excellent. Very friendly with a nice laugh that checked in often and made sure I had plenty of bread and my water was full. Nice experience and would definitely come back

Unbelievable experience prior to seeing a show. Food and service were excellent! Our server is also a bartender, so she made sure our drinks were perfect and made them to our preference. The food was delicious with the classic dishes. I tried the famous mushroom raviolis. The chicken parm and bolognese were also outstanding. Solid choice for dinner downtown. And if you're a Reno local and have a players card, don't forget to mention that ;)

This Italian restaurant is nicely set up like you are in an Italy. Jack Scott seated us and was so pleasant. Our server was Malia and she took exceptional care of us. We enjoyed their fresh homemade garlic bread and Caesar salad. Our main course was the pappardelle with bolognese meat sauce. We were so pleased with Malia! She checked on us consistently and offered great suggestions. She was such a breath of fresh air and we plan on dining there again to see her!

Food was delicious and service great. Really enjoyed the Tagliatelle Bolognese. But favorite entree was mushroom ravioli. Came recommended and glad they did so because not something I would normally order. Leave room for the cannolis. Best I've had.

This place was unexpectedly good. We had the osso bucco and the bolognese. Fantastic food! My husband had the smoked old fashioned which was a great presentation. Nice atmosphere and good service.

Very good food and service. Our waiter, Kamel, was very spot on. Good experience overall.. Smoked old fashioned is quite the show. I would recommend.

    1. Wait time: we waited at least 30 minutes probably more after our reservation time. Not sure why they enforce such a strict reservation policy (with late/cancel charges) yet cannot seat everyone on time in a timely manner. When we were finally brought to our seat, we all many many empty tables so that made us even more confused about the extra wait. 2. Service: lackluster. Our server kept forgetting orders, coming back and forth, others were forgetting things we requested such as bread, and overall service was overall extremely slow. They were all very nice and polite, but they really need to work on efficiency. Food also took awhile for each dish, check took forever to come. Our entire meal took 2 hours! 3. Food was alright, nothing to write home about. I got their famous mushroom ravioli (7 pieces) but there wasn't much flavor. The one thing that stood out was the pizza; it was fantastic with plenty of topping; we all thoroughly enjoyed this one! Drinks while expensive was just alright as was the tirimisu. Oh yeah, one of our glasses had a fresh lipstick stain on it (see image) Unfortunately I would not recommend eating here unless you have lots of time for your entire meal. It is also very expensive!

First time in Reno and first restaurant! Atmosphere: The restaurant is located inside of the casino, so it's a fun walk to get there! The restaurant is very classic-looking, dimly lit - definitely a romantic vibe for date night. It's quiet and seems a but upscale (as Italian restaurants tend to me be), but you can dress casual. There's no dress code. Customer Service: Everyone was very nice. I noticed that a number of staff were older gentlemen, which I found pretty endearing. They have that grandpa vibe to them that others might find a bit awkward, but it didn't bother us. They're sweet. Parking: We stayed at the hotel and parked in the self-parking. There's a parking garage, but I'm not sure how much that cost (perks of being a passenger princess). Pricing: It can feel overpriced for what you get, but for a restaurant inside the casino, an uncharge is expected. It costs more than your regular Italian restaurant, but less than fine dining. For 2 people, we paid $200 for 1 appetizer, 2 pastas, and 2 drinks. Food & Drinks: The Smoked Old-Fashioned is fun to get because they bring the cart over and make it in front of you. The price ranges from $25 using Maker's Mark whiskey, or up to a special whiskey that is $65. I think this was more expensive than the drink is worth - it was fun and smoky, but I wouldn't pay $65 for it. That's just me. Mike was very pleasant in making our drinks. The Raspberry Martini was really good. They do not go light on sugar here though, so something to be aware of. For appetizers, we had the Bacon-wrapped Prawns. For Pasta, we had the Mushroom Ravioli and the Seafood Linguine with red sauce (which was what was recommended by our waiter, Christopher). My personally favorite was the Mushroom Ravioli. I don't think I'll be back to try anything else on the menu. It was a nice restaurant to try for a more serious dinner. You should try it at least one - get the Mushroom Ravioli!

Had a lovely dinner at La Strada last night. Wanted to take mom out before jingle bell rock show, and this was right in the hotel! Mom had an espresso martini, and the mushroom ravioli. I had the early bird special with the shrimp risotto. Food was good, our server was great, we shared my tiramisu dessert. We enjoyed the meal in the lovely restaurant setting!

My special treat place always satisfies. Enjoyed dinner here recently with friends/family and was so excited to go and enjoy La Strada once again. I've come to love and appreciate how well they execute Veal Osso Buco. So yummy and with the Risotto Milanese I can't think of a more decadent dish! I brought a nice bottle of wine to enjoy and I love that they do a corkage fee for that opportunity. Sometimes you just want a special bottle to pair that happens to be in your private stash! Service was awesome and our meal was coursed out at a lovely pace. La Strada drips in northern Italian elegance and give me more please? I'm reminded of many trips to Italy and my last visit just happened to begin and end in Milano! Beautiful restaurant!

Went to La Strada for a date night. We were lucky enough to get a corner table and had an attentive waitress, AN. However the food was disappointing compared to what it was when Chief Ivano was in the kitchen. But the table side Café Diablo made up for the food! Tasted great, fresh house made whipped cream topped with cinnamon and sugar. It was delicious!

It was my sister's pre- early birthday celebration. She wanted this place for dinner. I made a reservation First of all, upon seated on our table. Everyone was greeting us warm and kindly. Then our server and bussing our table was also attentive to every detail on table etiquette. I ordered there famous raviolli, my sister had lasagna, my brother in-law alfredo pasta, my niece had her spaghetti, my mom had marinara seafood pasta, and my had a chicken. Surprisingly, everything was really good. All top it off with fresh cheese. Oh they gave us, warm bowl of different kinds of bread. It was so good! I was eating the whole time. We ordered a ceasar salad, the server portioned the 2 orders for all of us.. Ambiance was nice, even if the place is a little smaller it actually pretty quiet and barely hear other people's conversation. The place seem to capture the vibe of Italy. We all agreed the food was sumptuous, my mom finished her plate and said this is her first she really liked her pasta. We all shared a bits and pieces, everything was delicious! The server gave us a Tiramisu cake, they pulled out one of team members to sing happy birthday in Italian, that was a phenomenal experience. Beyond our wildest expectations! The downside was my nephew wants more of that strawberries on that Tiramisu cake. Tiramisu cake was moist, melts in your mouth and doesn't taste much of a coffee. We loved it so much! Thank you everyone for making our exceptional. Our tummy was so happy, that we all ended up smiling and giggling after our dinner. I would recommend this place if you have special occasions, or maybe if you are craving for a good pa

To drink we tried the Lambrusco, a fruity but not sweet sparkling red wine, and the Hugo spritz which was very well executed. For dessert we had the Cioccolato Budino which was a dense, creamy and rich mousse covered in caramel chocolate cookie crumbs and homemade whipped cream. Served with house-made bread. First and foremost, I experienced satisfaction with every bite of the food. The soup was so warm and comforting with the fresh vegetables. The bread was a nice complement to soak up the tomato broth. The Lasagna was absolutely delicious. The portion of the slice was generously huge, and the taste was on point, especially with the personal request of extra marinara sauce (I always love extra sauce on pastas in general). The hospitality from all staff members was so amiable and attentive. They ensured that I had everything I needed during the dining experience. For both my soup and pasta, I was given the topping of freshly grated Parmesan cheese. The interior of the restaurant was small, yet cozy, with a welcoming feel for families. The Italian-themed decor was a beautiful touch to the restaurant. The inside of the restroom was clean. Lastly, the lunch menu offered affordable prices. Overall, La Cucina Italian Eatery exceeded expectations in my book! From the filling portions of food to the spectacularly kind service, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. I sampled the Sole, it was light, flavorful and delicious, with a nice snap of the outer crust. Nice. One friend ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. You know you're in an authentic Italian restaurant when the pasta is homemade. Served with housemade fettuccine with generous serving of butter, cream, & Grana Padano Cheese. Then topped with hand grated Mozzarella. This dish sounded and looked amazing but if I'm being honest I would have preferred a more creamy finish to the Alfredo. The dish (sauce) just seemed very heavy. Another friend had the Spaghetti Bolognese. For an Italian restaurant to be good, you have to do the basics to perfection, in my humble opinion and Johnny's did not disappoint. While I did not personally try the spaghetti with meat sauce. The couple sharing the dish seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Of course, the Spaghetti is homemade. Another dish was the Pollo al Raggio. A breaded boneless chicken breast with lemon, capers, mushrooms then topped with a white wine sauce and served with penne marinara. Johnny's does just a great job with breaded dishes. A nice crispiness on the initial bite but the meat is still delicate and juicy. Now I appreciate that I was at an Italian Restaurant but what can I say, I wanted a steak. The Steak is a 12 oz Certified Angus Beef N.Y Steak aged for 28 days, then marinated in olive oil & herbs and served with a creamy polenta. I gotta say, this was one good steak. Cooked to perfection, it was perfect. Chef's Kiss. It was nice to finish my meal with the same delicious Polenta that we started the evening with. Celebrating a birthday on this evening, a generous portion of desserts were ordered. Starting with the Tiramisu. I gotta say this was a really good Tiramisu. Sometimes bakers can get carried away with the Chocolate. My compliments to the Chef, this was the perfect blend of Lady Fingers, espresso and brandy and then finished with delicate dusting of chocolate and a proper dollop mascarpone. Next was the Pecan Ball. We had such high hopes for this dessert. Vanilla ice cream rolled in pecans and covered with hot fudge. In the end, this was nothing to write home about and way too expensive for what you got. This will be a hard pass for our next visit. The birthday girl ordered an Affogato. Which is Vanilla ice cream with a shot of hot espresso. If you enjoy that espresso flavor, this is the dessert for you. I don't like talking badly about the wait staff because they are the amongst the hardest working people. That said, for an elegant restaurant with the history of Johnny's, I was expecting more. Our waitress, while always polite just seemed a bit annoyed that she had to take care of us, like she was doing us a favor. We told her that we were celebrating a special birthday, asking if the birthday girl would get a complementary dessert. "We don't do complimentary desserts here". Okay fair enough. Often its not what you say but how you say it. Johnny's you can do better. Reflecting on the evening, everything was quite good. For a restaurant of Johnny's stature amongst the locals, I gotta say I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong, the food and desserts were all quite good, but I just wanted a bit more.

We ordered a glass of the house chianti and it was amazing! I had the mushroom ravioli's and a house salad for an extra $3 which was well worth it! My favorite part is the homemade bread!! Absolutely delicious and Rebecca brought us more straight out of the oven. I love hot bubbly bread!!! The service is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect especially after traveling all day with delays! The prices are good and plenty of parking! Next time you're thinking Italian think Zozo's, you'll be glad you did.

Quality/Quantity - Our friend's favorite Italian…read morerestaurant, so we ALL frequent it more and more often. And our group keeps getting bigger. Today's appetizers, all of which were really good: Meatballs - Huge, more than enough to share! Even with 7 of us. We all got a bite. Calamari - Fried well, decent portions. I think I ate most of this dish. Love me some calamari! Toasted Focaccia Bruschetta - Hit for our group. I enjoyed it also, but the calamari was still my favorite. Complimentary Bread - So good!! Always a favorite. We always have to get seconds. If you want 3rds, it comes with a $4 upcharge, but that is still worth it in my book. House Salads - Nothing special, but also not bad. Fresh, decent quantity, and with dressing on the side. Two Cesar Salads - Our guests enjoyed this. $5 upcharge each. Cups of Minestrone Soups - Good. Cup of Egg Drop Soup - One of our guests wanted to try this; $5 upcharge. Linguine & Clams - Both in white and red sauce. My choice was the red sauce. I kept forgetting that this comes with BABY clams as I prefer larger clams, and actually if it was still in the shell, that would be an extra plus. NOTE to self, do not keep getting this... Eggplant Parmigiana - Home run, both ladies that got this loved it! Huge slices of eggplant. Baked and fried well. Eggplant Parmigiana with Grilled Chicken - WOW, generous portions. I think my wife took ¾ of her dish home... She got another two meals out of it. Sauteed Calamari Steak - This looked good, I might get it next time. Our newest addition to our group. She also took half her entree home. Grilled Prawn Picatta - Not a large quantity, but because all of us (except one) are light eaters, our guest still took half home. Another good entree. I will also add this to my list for next time. Special Chicken Pomodoro - Decent portions, my buddy devoured this. He is a good eater. One of the few in our group, lol. Dessert, Tiramisu - This was really good. We should have ordered a second one... And to wash it all down, I got a glass of Italian white wine which I really did not enjoy... Atmosphere - Double storefront. We seemed to always end up sitting in the second room but not today! I liked that they had a bar in each room. Table, booth, or bar seating. Two unisex restrooms. Plenty of parking. See pictures for business hours. Open 6 days a week; closed Mondays. Service - Good. We had a leisurely 2 hour dinner and never felt rushed. We were catching up with our good friends and new friends. Price - $323 + generous tips. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1990 as Davos; we have been customers for a very long time. Glad we are back and introducing our friends to your restaurant. Mid 1990 - Coco Pazzo, then renamed to Panevino. 2000 - Zozo's.

Very happy to find a good lasagna where you can choose from having simple marinara or a bolognese sauce. We chose the bolognese and it was a perfect addition to the cheese lasagna. Plenty of cheese and sauce, the cheese pull was crazy. The veal Marsala was delicious, tender, and had great flavor. The sauce was rich in flavor somewhat lemony with plenty of mushrooms and coated the pasta perfectly. The pasta seemed to be very fresh and had great texture. We arrived 20 minutes after their 5 pm opening without reservations on a Friday and we had the option to choose the bar area which was great for us. The drinks were delicious. The basil mojito was very refreshing. The old fashioned was perfect and traditional. Great waiter and attentive. Helped me choose and offered me a good drink. Good Italian restaurant with a semi casual atmosphere.

Regina was our wonderful waitperson and she was from the beginning very helpful and clearly explained that her focus was about getting us out in time for the 7:00 performance start time. We had 5:00 reservations so it was great that we were there early. We ordered the grilled artichokes with a lemon aioli for an app and it was delicious. We had this before and just a tasty as ever. We also had a Caesar salad and we both think it's one of the best Caesars in town. My main entrée was a chicken marsala (5+/5). On the meu it's a veal marsala, but when I asked Regina if it could be chicken, she said yes! It was a perfect dish. The chicken was cooked exactly as it should, tender and flavorful! The mushrooms and marsala sauce with the pasta side made the whole dish one of the best I've had. I would definitely order this again!! My hubby ordered the chicken saltimbocca (5+/5) and his dish was absolutely delicious too. The prosciutto and sage were flavor enhancers for sure! Both dishes had a broccolini as the veggie and it too was prepared well. For dessert we shared an affogato. The added drizzle of caramel and chocolate sauce made it very special! We had the most enjoyable time and delicious food. We will certainly return more often. There are so many menu items we want to explore the next time. Thank you La Famiglia for a great dinner outing. We'll be back soon!

But we were randomly in the area again early one evening, and it was a perfect time to try out their restaurant. Have been searching for a go-to Italian restaurant (Reno has so many Italian options, but it's been surprisingly hard to find well done pasta), and this is it. Their homemade pasta, perfectly cooked (not mushy or too chewy) with juicy shrimp (tagliatelle agli scampi) was exactly right. Portion size was generous, and it came with complimentary bread (oil and balsamic). Unfortunately, not enough room for dessert, but will definitely be back either here or at their new downtown location! TIP: Definitely worth calling ahead. The table seating is somewhat limited, but well spaced, clean, and comfortable. Parking outside at the onsite lot for this small shopping center can also get crowded. Also, you can find them on Sundays at the Riverside farmer's market and pick up some convenient and delicious frozen pasta!

Very satisfied not just with the food but with the thoughtfulness of the preparation and the friendly attentive service. I got the special, which was salmon in parchment paper, which came with a side of pasta, and my wife got the tagliatelle with shrimp. Both phenomenal. I'd say their pasta is the best aspect of any dish they serve, but the proteins are also thoughtfully prepared. Maybe a bit on the pricey side, but the quality is there.
