Went to Land Ocean and celebrated my son's 17th bday and we had a delicious meal. The BBQ Burger was juicy and packed with flavor, the Ahi Poke Tacos were fresh and delicious, and the Salmon BLT was absolutely amazing! Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Great food, great atmosphere, and a wonderful dining experience. Definitely a place worth trying!
Came here today, but unfortunately was disappointed to find that they only had bar seating available due to an event. Since children aren't allowed to sit at the bar, my party wasn't able to dine here. I understand that events can affect seating, but it was still disappointing that there wasn't an option for families with kids.
We absolutely love this fine dining steakhouse and seafood. It was fabulous. We had my brother's birthday here and they were very accommodating for us all. The food was excellent. Everybody ordered something different in the ambiance is so elegant or you can dress down. Either way you're good. We will be coming here regular. We loved it. A sophisticated, chic restaurant is South Reno in the Summit Mall on your way up to Lake Tahoe. The food is healthy and delicious. You will leave satisfied. The prices are fitting the ambience; this is fine dining. The service is quality to complete the experience. I will note that they do not include a birthday treat or warm bread.
I've been coming here for years. I was definitely a regular. The original staff-Ana and Nicole in particular, made this place what it was. Since all the original staff left to open the new location in Sparks, this place has fallen apart. I still go here but no longer choose it over other places. The food is still consistently good but the bar service, or lack of service, is my only complaint. The new bartenders spend too much time talking to one another or to their regular customers instead of servicing the bar.

Initially we wanted to try their happy hour (3:00-6:00) but it was completely full in the bar area with no open spots. The bar is the only place they'll serve the happy hour specials. So we opted for the dining room. It was also good that we had a reservation, because it would have been a 20-minute wait as a walk-in. They have a variety of appealing choices on their menu. I chose their house salad, with grilled salmon added. It was a delicious meal. The salad had a tasty balsamic vinaigrette and the salmon was good-sized. My only note was that the salmon was a bit dry. Overall I would order this again. My hubby ordered the house salad as well and added chicken to his dish. His comment was the chicken was sort of bland. We also shared soup special--beef, mushroom, kale and cheese soup. As different as it sounds, it was very good. Our friends really liked the Chilean Seabass dish (the accompanying coconut rice was a favorite) and the salmon entree. Jacy was our server person and she was excellent all evening. She was helpful, friendly, kind and attentive. Next time we're in, we'll ask to be seated at her table section! The restaurant was bustling with all of the dining room full, at 6:00-7:30'ish dinner time. So it was loud but later it became more quiet as people left. We were seated in a corner booth table so it was less noisy in that spot, but it was still difficult to hear each other. We'll certainly return and try out their happy hour and other menu items..
I've been to this restaurant multiple times with friends, and my husband, and we've always come back because of the great food and overall experience. In fact, I was just here a few weeks ago for a birthday. Unfortunately, after our most recent visit, that will likely be changing. A group of six of us came in to celebrate an early Mother's Day -- this is actually our third year choosing this spot for the occasion. We had a reservation for 1:30 PM and weren't seated until around 1:40, which wasn't a big deal. However, things quickly went downhill from there. After being seated, it took quite a while for our server to come over. He briefly apologized and said he'd be with us soon, but we didn't actually place our order until around 2:00 PM. We let him know we were celebrating Mother's Day and ordered bottomless mimosas. I even joked about keeping them coming since we were on a bit of a time crunch. Over the next hour, our server checked on us maybe three times total. By this point, the restaurant had cleared out significantly, and it seemed like he only had a few tables. The service felt extremely inattentive. I asked to speak with a manager, hoping to resolve things, but that interaction only made matters worse. The manager stood there while I explained our concerns, offering no apology, acknowledgment, or effort to address the situation. Even a simple nod or basic customer service response would have gone a long way. Shortly after, our server dropped off the bill -- even though we weren't finished and hadn't asked for it. We had to flag down another waitress just to order another round of drinks because our server was nowhere to be found. Then, to top it all off, a manager came over and questioned how many drinks we had consumed. That was honestly shocking and embarrassing. It was only around 3:00 PM. They could clearly see when we were seated, when we ordered, and we had already expressed frustration about how little we had been served. It felt completely inappropriate and accusatory. At that point, it also seemed like staff members were talking about us, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. We decided to wrap things up and leave. We were respectful customers -- no spills, no inappropriate behavior, just a group of moms enjoying a celebration with some laughter and conversation. We weren't there long enough, nor were we served enough, to justify being treated that way. It's incredibly disappointing, especially considering how much we've enjoyed this place in the past. Sadly, this experience has completely changed how we feel about coming back.
The workers here are nice and friendly. I love the decor and low lit. The restrooms are clean. The water here taste so horrible like cleaner. We had to ask the waiter to change the water and it was still tasted like cleaner. Sadly I came when they were sold out of prime rib. I even up getting the SURF and TURF. The food was so flavorful and not even salty.
We were hungry and we were in the neighborhood and we knew we'd be back from the last time we were here. It was an easy call. Let's go back to Land Ocean. On the way back to Gardnerville, my wife could not stop talking about how good her lunch was. She ordered a blackened shrimp bowl and she shared with me one of the shrimp. It was really good, but she was really happy with a combination of flavors. If memory serves, it included mango and other fresh ingredients. Again, we're at the bottom of the Highway 50 in Carson City and she still raving. I had the mushroom burger. And it was really good. They asked me how I wanted the meat cooked and then they did it that way. When you're spending $15-$20 for a hamburger you do want it to be cooked properly. This seems to be a bit of a challenge for many establishments but this restaurant did it properly. We each had a glass of wine from their very efficient wine list. There's a wine for everybody by the glass. My wife had a glass of Rombauer Chardonnay and I had a glass of the Prisoner red blend. Our entrées went so well that we shared a dessert. It was the apple crumb something or other. It was good too. Why the four stars are not five? The ambience is beautiful, the booth we sat and was comfortable, and everybody we met was pleasant enough, but it was not five star service. It seemed like our server was new and learning, but it would not stop us from going back. I can still hear her, " that was the best lunch I've had in a long time."

Not even full price ones?! So that was a little disappointing, as I was thirsty and would have been totally happy to pay full price. Once it was time, waiter was attentive and snacks and drinks were quick. We tried a bunch of stuff. The melty blue cheese dip, with fresh chips, is to die for. I had to have them again, all for myself, so I returned recently for a late lunch. I sat at a table in the dining area, and enjoyed a couple of yummy martini's, the ahi tacos and of course, the dip. So good!
Ordered a cheeseburger with guacamole. It was cooked to perfection. Tasted delicious I also ordered a wedge salad that came with. The wedge salad was creamy, crunchy and delicious! The raspberry lemon drops are delicious too but on the pricey side of $14. Which can add up. A friend ordered the blackened shrimp with rice, mango and guacamole. She said it was delicious so I will be ordering that entree next time!
This was my first time dining in. It was such a high class intimate but also lively atmosphere. We had a nice cozy booth toward the front. The hostess was very thoughtful when placing us due to one of us on crutches. I loved that each item on their menu seems unique. Ex the cilantro rice was green, the blackened salmon had a chipolte mango sauce. I found for higher class dining it wasn't horrible pricing. You can get dinner for around 30$ for some items. I was surprised to see burgers on the menu. I'll be back to try one of those or brunch! We did notice a hair on our garlic cheese bread but I wasn't sure if it was mine or not to be honest. I was pretty confused by the lighting. They had downward yellow lights over the dining room. Like mustard yellow. I'm curious the reasoning behind it. It was odd and made my food not show true colors and made pictures not look very appetizing too. We came for my bday but they don't offer any free bday desserts. Although their desserts sounded amazing.

Wonderful brunch today with my good friend! Her hubby gave her a gift certificate for Christmas and she shared with me. We had a booth and ordered bottomless mimosas to start. They have a wonderful brunch menu so I chose the crab cake Benedict with a light lemony sauce and crispy potatoes with green peppers seasoned just right! My friend got the breakfast sandwich which is basically a Blta but comes with egg which she declined. Our servers were on top of everything and came by to refill our champagne several times without us asking. Our food came quickly and was fresh and hot. No complaints here and excited for the new one to open in Sparks! read more
It had been a minute since the last time I visited Land Ocean for brunch but they have really stepped up on their food. I had the land ocean Benedict and they were really good. The eggs were perfectly poached and the sauces on both were different and savory. Our server was attentive and she kept our coffee cups full all the time. We will definitely be back. read more
You know what? I really, REALLY want to like this place. I do... Its super popular but it just doesn't do it for me. It doesnt vibe with me at all. Not my place. I'm not a huge fan of their menu and thas a huge problem. While I have been her several times, there always seems to be one plate at our table that needs to go back for some reason or another. The signature fish dish is good but it has some kind of funky rice that is completely off-putting. At happy hour the place is packed with everyone from Arrowcreek and Galena hills areas. Why? I'm not completely sure. Some people really like the place, and its so close to my home but I just cant get behind it. I will say this, try the prime rib sando...it's the one menu item that they definitely have right! read more

Their Saturday brunch is still one of my favorites! A group of 4 of us went in after watching a movie at the theater next door. The food was delicious and the mimosas keep flowing. I am disappointed that they now charge extra for juices other than orange juice. It's still a great spot with excellent service! Be sure you make a reservation to get spot! read more
Came in on a Friday for date night. Seated quickly even though they were packed. I ordered a "ranch hand" cocktail and wifey had the espresso martini. Good bartender who was able to make mine on the fly also refreshing to choose which type of whiskey to use. Good fancy restaurant for south Reno. We've been coming for years and still haven't had a bad experience or any bad food. Damon was a wonderful server who kept us smiling through our whole meal. read more
We came here for brunch for one of my best friend's birthdays. It was my first time for brunch and I was amazed! First off, they were able to accommodate our large party of 12 people, with a reservation of course. They gave us the option of sitting at tables or booths. We picked booths but tables would have probably been easier. For brunch, they have a special menu, but you're also able to order from their lunch menu too. Now this was the deal sealer... $15 for bottomless mimosas !! Incredible. Our server, Elizabeth, was on it. When we ran low on champagne, she was right there to fill our flutes We shared the tempura prawns which were served with a sweet coconut sauce on the side. The calamari weren't my favorite but I dove into the oysters soon after. The oysters were good size and seriously fresh. For my main, I got the crab cake Benedict. Perfectly seasoned and just a hint of that Cajun spice. This was real crab too, not the imitation stuff. We had sucha great time and I cant wait to come back read more
Honest follow-up review: Busy days change the experience, but one of the best meals for the price. 4/5 Wanted to give Land Ocean a 5/5 like I had previously, but as we've had different servers, it's clear that busy days make for inconsistent levels of service, which, don't get me wrong... this place gets packed at dinner time, so just be patient, they're doing their best, just.... Remember to ask for your drinks as 2 people in our party had to remind the waiter that we ordered a drink from the bar. But.... Let me get you the food review on one of the best dishes in Reno for the price of $36. -Surf and turf: 5/5 I when you're thinking for a consistent meal that's always going to deliver, I think of the surf and turf. Perfectly medium rare, buttery puree'd mashed potatoes, and some perfectly deep fried prawns that pair with a delicious sauce that's made to order, delicious and just consistent! The steak comes with a sauce over the top of it that gives you a well rounded savory and almost sour kick, matched with the sauce for the prawns you're met with a blend of sweet and savory that just leaves your taste buds happy! With the new location in Sparks, one of the manager from this location will be training the staff, he has been a consistent 5 star performer and I'm confident he'll be getting that staff in line for service and a high quality experience. This one just fell short for something they couldn't control, which was how busy they were. What they could control was bringing the drinks to us before the meal was over. That's my only note. Call me the outlier on this one. I wanted to love Land Ocean based on all the reviews, but based on this experience, I just don't understand it. Let me start with all of the great things about this restaurant. First starters it's a beautiful space with warm and welcoming ambience that has a feeling of comfortable luxury. The large bar at the back of the restaurant is certainly a bit of a focal point, but they've done a great job of creating separation between the bar, dining and the other dining settings as well. Reservations are easy to come by either using Yelp or directly through their website or their phone. We made ours and we're promptly greeted when we arrived, but it did take quite a while for us to actually be seated, and that was a bit of a surprise. Given the fact we made the reservation we did add one person to our party and we're not able to adjust the reservation ahead of time and they were sure to accommodate, however, that change was not the core cause of the delay in seating. It was more so the timing of the tables necessary to accommodate the group. The food is really where I felt the most let down. We started with appetizers, including the grilled artichokes and fried calamari. The artichokes were as you'd expect, and the aïoli that came with it was quite tasty. However, the artichoke seemed a bit overcooked and the leaves had trended towards the mushy side. The calamari was actually delicious with a light breaded coating akin to cornmeal and the spicy mayo it came with was a great sauce too. Beyond the appetizers, I didn't really find much of interest on the menu, but the server offered up a nightly special of a fresh halibut with curried lentils and wilted spinach. That sounded quite good so I went for that at $41. The portion of fish that I received seemed a bit smaller than the others around me and the ones I had seen coming from the kitchen, but that aside the curry lentils really lacked flavor and sort of appeared as if they sat under a heat lamp for quite some time, waiting to come to the table, the wilted spinach really was underseasoned and the portion size just generally felt small. Service was good, but not exceptional and I feel like with the price point at this restaurant and the ambience. It really should be steakhouse level stellar. Our server was definitely present and informative, but they just wasn't the same level of polish as you find in finer dining and this restaurant felt like that was something warranted. Now the entire restaurant was packed so again I am clearly the outlier on this one. I'd happily go back to the restaurant again with friends. I just don't know if it's one that I'd be choosing myself. Perhaps the brunch service or a happy hour visit could change that opinion in the future. read more

This is one of my favorite local restaurants that's on rotation for date nights! Out of the two times I've been here, both times the service, ambience, and food were all amazing! This last time my partner and I shared the Duckhorn wine that was a tasty red blend. We ordered crab cakes for appetizers which were crispy and well made. There were 3 crab cakes that came out and it was more than enough food for 2 people. Our waiter was more than happy to give us some time to be hungry again to order some entrees. We also ordered the teriyaki wagyu special and the Surf and Turf! If you love sautéed mushrooms, the teriyaki wagyu is a must. The Surf and turf is the same exact meat, except it came with tempura shrimp in a coconut sauce. I found the coconut shrimp to be underwhelming, but I also don't love coconut. For dessert we tried the seasonal cheesecake which was a delicious peach cobbler. We also got their special martini which is nothing like a traditional martini. Instead, it used pomegranate juice and was absolutely delicious if you enjoy more of a fruity taste. Our previous visit was for my birthday brunch and we were able to get some crème brûlée and Happy Birthday written on the plate in chocolate sauce! I've been wanting to try this place and our friends, who love this place, came with us. Parking isn't too bad being next to the theater. We made reservations and were seating within a few minutes. Place wasn't as big as I thought, little dark but nice. We ordered wine and I had a dirty martini with blue cheese olives. Very good. We had appetizers. Started with Artichokes, cheesy garlic bread and mini beef wellingtons. I don't think I would order the wellingtons again as they were on the cold side. For our entrees I got the poke bowl my husband got teriyaki wagy ribeye. Our friends got Chilean sea bass and ribeye steak. I thought everything tasted good and server was very attentive. This afternoon we decided to drive out to the Land Ocean at the Summit. It was a 30 minute wait, but there was a place at the bar so we took it and glad we did. They had car racing on the TV. Cody the bartender was super. We had the bottomless mimosa for only $15 each. One martini is $14 it's a great deal and the best part they had my Pink grapefruit juice. I love that they fill your glass with champagne & provide you with a separate bottle for your juice. We both ordered off the brunch menu. I had the chicken and waffles. Absolutely hands down one of the best. The bourbon maple syrup was to die for and paired perfectly with the strawberry butter!! This is a must have dish! My husband is hooked on the breakfast burritos. He had the bacon and the breakfast sausage. They did charge him an additional two dollars for an extra meat, but it was well worth it. Best news the bartender shared with us, they are opening up another location in Sparks by Costco, the old Mr. Crab. Hello! We still have our fireplace. It’s divides the lower dinning room and bar area. We light it at night around 4pm. Hope that helps.
