I've been to this restaurant multiple times with friends, and my husband, and we've always come back because of the great food and overall experience. In fact, I was just here a few weeks ago for a birthday. Unfortunately, after our most recent visit, that will likely be changing. A group of six of us came in to celebrate an early Mother's Day -- this is actually our third year choosing this spot for the occasion. We had a reservation for 1:30 PM and weren't seated until around 1:40, which wasn't a big deal. However, things quickly went downhill from there. After being seated, it took quite a while for our server to come over. He briefly apologized and said he'd be with us soon, but we didn't actually place our order until around 2:00 PM. We let him know we were celebrating Mother's Day and ordered bottomless mimosas. I even joked about keeping them coming since we were on a bit of a time crunch. Over the next hour, our server checked on us maybe three times total. By this point, the restaurant had cleared out significantly, and it seemed like he only had a few tables. The service felt extremely inattentive. I asked to speak with a manager, hoping to resolve things, but that interaction only made matters worse. The manager stood there while I explained our concerns, offering no apology, acknowledgment, or effort to address the situation. Even a simple nod or basic customer service response would have gone a long way. Shortly after, our server dropped off the bill -- even though we weren't finished and hadn't asked for it. We had to flag down another waitress just to order another round of drinks because our server was nowhere to be found. Then, to top it all off, a manager came over and questioned how many drinks we had consumed. That was honestly shocking and embarrassing. It was only around 3:00 PM. They could clearly see when we were seated, when we ordered, and we had already expressed frustration about how little we had been served. It felt completely inappropriate and accusatory. At that point, it also seemed like staff members were talking about us, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. We decided to wrap things up and leave. We were respectful customers -- no spills, no inappropriate behavior, just a group of moms enjoying a celebration with some laughter and conversation. We weren't there long enough, nor were we served enough, to justify being treated that way. It's incredibly disappointing, especially considering how much we've enjoyed this place in the past. Sadly, this experience has completely changed how we feel about coming back.

The workers here are nice and friendly. I love the decor and low lit. The restrooms are clean. The water here taste so horrible like cleaner. We had to ask the waiter to change the water and it was still tasted like cleaner. Sadly I came when they were sold out of prime rib. I even up getting the SURF and TURF. The food was so flavorful and not even salty.

I've been coming here for years. I was definitely a regular. The original staff-Ana and Nicole in particular, made this place what it was. Since all the original staff left to open the new location in Sparks, this place has fallen apart. I still go here but no longer choose it over other places. The food is still consistently good but the bar service, or lack of service, is my only complaint. The new bartenders spend too much time talking to one another or to their regular customers instead of servicing the bar.

You know what? I really, REALLY want to like this place. I do... Its super popular but it just doesn't do it for me. It doesnt vibe with me at all. Not my place. I'm not a huge fan of their menu and thas a huge problem. While I have been her several times, there always seems to be one plate at our table that needs to go back for some reason or another. The signature fish dish is good but it has some kind of funky rice that is completely off-putting. At happy hour the place is packed with everyone from Arrowcreek and Galena hills areas. Why? I'm not completely sure. Some people really like the place, and its so close to my home but I just cant get behind it. I will say this, try the prime rib sando...it's the one menu item that they definitely have right!

We were hungry and we were in the neighborhood and we knew we'd be back from the last time we were here. It was an easy call. Let's go back to Land Ocean. On the way back to Gardnerville, my wife could not stop talking about how good her lunch was. She ordered a blackened shrimp bowl and she shared with me one of the shrimp. It was really good, but she was really happy with a combination of flavors. If memory serves, it included mango and other fresh ingredients. Again, we're at the bottom of the Highway 50 in Carson City and she still raving. I had the mushroom burger. And it was really good. They asked me how I wanted the meat cooked and then they did it that way. When you're spending $15-$20 for a hamburger you do want it to be cooked properly. This seems to be a bit of a challenge for many establishments but this restaurant did it properly. We each had a glass of wine from their very efficient wine list. There's a wine for everybody by the glass. My wife had a glass of Rombauer Chardonnay and I had a glass of the Prisoner red blend. Our entrées went so well that we shared a dessert. It was the apple crumb something or other. It was good too. Why the four stars are not five? The ambience is beautiful, the booth we sat and was comfortable, and everybody we met was pleasant enough, but it was not five star service. It seemed like our server was new and learning, but it would not stop us from going back. I can still hear her, " that was the best lunch I've had in a long time."

Well, yesterday Sunday, was quite the experience when we went to land and ocean. We entered the restaurant about 330. We were waiting for another person in our party, so we decided to order drinks. We got our drinks we're there chatting while waiting for our other person. So our other party comes in and the lights flicker. She ordered her drink. She gets her drink and the lights go out. The waitress comes back takes our order and about 15 minutes later she comes back and says she can't even put our order in and they can't cook anything because the gas went out and the fryer is out. In the meantime, we keep seeing that they're seating people. Which is very odd to continue to seat people when you can't cook. So one in our party was starving so we asked for bread and she brought one little loaf for four people. I didn't have any, so others could have it. no problem there. And then we kept waiting, and we asked for another loaf of bread, which never came. Then the gal our waitress Haley was very courteous, and obviously felt bad as we have been sitting there probably for 45min after the order finally got put in, then waited probably a good 20 to 25 minutes by the time we got the food. Three of them are salads one with shrimp one with seared Ahi. I got a French dip. Which they had to use the grill which they were able to. But the fryer wasn't working so nobody was able to get french fries in the whole restaurant. So we chose an alternative. The kicker is when a restaurant has that big of a snafu they should do whatever they can to make it right. Comp drinks or get you an appetizer or two just to hold you over. None of that happened. We paid full price we had to wait while they were seating other people in the hopes that their kitchen equipment would get back up and running. We' were there 2 1/2 hours by the time it was all said and done. We did not linger too long after we ate our food. So we probably waited more than 45 minutes. Definitely disappointing. And to not make any compensation at all? That is not very good restaurant business. Boo!

I've been here twice, once for happy hour and once for a late lunch. Loved it both times. The bar area was a little weird. For some reason, you are not allowed to order ANY drinks before 3pm exactly. Not even full price ones?! So that was a little disappointing, as I was thirsty and would have been totally happy to pay full price. Once it was time, waiter was attentive and snacks and drinks were quick. We tried a bunch of stuff. The melty blue cheese dip, with fresh chips, is to die for. I had to have them again, all for myself, so I returned recently for a late lunch. I sat at a table in the dining area, and enjoyed a couple of yummy martini's, the ahi tacos and of course, the dip. So good!

    Guacamole cheeseburger! Yummy
    Aileen L.

Ordered a cheeseburger with guacamole. It was cooked to perfection. Tasted delicious I also ordered a wedge salad that came with. The wedge salad was creamy, crunchy and delicious! The raspberry lemon drops are delicious too but on the pricey side of $14. Which can add up. A friend ordered the blackened shrimp with rice, mango and guacamole. She said it was delicious so I will be ordering that entree next time!

This was my first time dining in. It was such a high class intimate but also lively atmosphere. We had a nice cozy booth toward the front. The hostess was very thoughtful when placing us due to one of us on crutches. I loved that each item on their menu seems unique. Ex the cilantro rice was green, the blackened salmon had a chipolte mango sauce. I found for higher class dining it wasn't horrible pricing. You can get dinner for around 30$ for some items. I was surprised to see burgers on the menu. I'll be back to try one of those or brunch! We did notice a hair on our garlic cheese bread but I wasn't sure if it was mine or not to be honest. I was pretty confused by the lighting. They had downward yellow lights over the dining room. Like mustard yellow. I'm curious the reasoning behind it. It was odd and made my food not show true colors and made pictures not look very appetizing too. We came for my bday but they don't offer any free bday desserts. Although their desserts sounded amazing.

Wonderful brunch today with my good friend! Her hubby gave her a gift certificate for Christmas and she shared with me. We had a booth and ordered bottomless mimosas to start. They have a wonderful brunch menu so I chose the crab cake Benedict with a light lemony sauce and crispy potatoes with green peppers seasoned just right! My friend got the breakfast sandwich which is basically a Blta but comes with egg which she declined. Our servers were on top of everything and came by to refill our champagne several times without us asking. Our food came quickly and was fresh and hot. No complaints here and excited for the new one to open in Sparks!

    Mely S.

It had been a minute since the last time I visited Land Ocean for brunch but they have really stepped up on their food. I had the land ocean Benedict and they were really good. The eggs were perfectly poached and the sauces on both were different and savory. Our server was attentive and she kept our coffee cups full all the time. We will definitely be back.

Solid 4! My wife's was a 5. Very friendly, competent staff with a pleasant atmosphere. We had 8 people in our group and did not hear one negative comment.

We went here after seeing the reviews on Yelp. We had the prime rib. It was the best prime rib I have ever had. We asked the server where the beef was from it was so good! (Sierra) great presentation and the ambiance was good.

Good afternoon, a lot of rumors about a restaurant opening in Sparks, Spanish Springs area, is this true?

I was told by one of the servers that another Land & Ocean will be opening in the Sparks Crossing Shopping Center.

Someone just told me you did brunch, is that a thing?!

What kind of plant based/vegan entrees do you have on your menu?

Jamie, thank you for your inquiry. We can modify a few of our menu items to be vegan such as our Spicy Filet Stir Fry without meat and extra vegetables. While we don't have a big list of vegan options on our menu, please let us know of your dietary… Read more

That was fine so as soon as we turned around to sit in the lobby, the guy called us and said he happened to find a table for two. So we were sat immediately. Her daughter got Filet of Petrale Sole Meuniere. First came a basket of bread. But, two of us are gluten-free. The Waiter made a point to check with the kitchen on all our meals. The steak came out smelling like garlic. It looked so much better than the picture I posted. It was so tender it cut with a butter knife. The color of the steak inside was perfect medium rare. The flavor on the taste buds is what dreams are made of. Some meals we remember for a lifetime. Because every bite is just that scrumptious. I can still almost taste it by just thinking about it. For dessert, we got the classic Bananas Foster, which is made tableside. It is dinner and a show. Bananas Foster is such a decadent treat. The show begins with the melting of the butter, and the aroma will still your breath away. Then add in the brown and white sugars. Several alcohols are used. I believe they use Banana liquor as well as rum. Then a fire is lit in the pan. It sparks when the cinnamon is added. Then the bananas are cooked ever so lightly. Sometimes, too much liqueur is added, and the flavor is off. However, on this night, it was spot on. The sugars and liqueur create a caramel sauce for the bananas, and vanilla ice cream is added. The ice cream that was used tasted like a French Vanilla ice cream with little flecks of vanilla. Each bite was a walk on a cloud. My friends had never had Bananas Foster before. I think they will be back if only for the Bananas Foster. The bananas and caramel with a kiss a vanilla ice cream just send your taste buds to heaven. Each bite will have you desiring more, even if you are beyond full. Each bite is so divine. It tastes so decadent that your mind will be blown that it is bananas and vanilla ice cream. I can't remember the name of our waiter. He was such a delight and made sure we had a great time. This was a meal I will remember for a long time. Thank you to the staff at Duke's Steakhouse. If you are looking for a luxurious and decadent dinner, this is the restaurant.

I'm only giving 4 stars this trip, I've never had an issue with happy hour seating. There were…read moreplenty of spaces at the bar but the two hostess at the podium said it would be at least a 20 minute wait. We went back at 4:40pm as instructed and still plenty of room in the bar, but yet they still would not see us. It wasn't until I asked if we could just sit down and we would wait for the service even if they were behind at that point, they allowed us to sit at the bar and we were waited on right away with no issue. Adrian knows us and we are very good customers there. I think some things changed in management, Kevin the waiter who has been there since it opened is no longer there and you could feel a different vibe going on in the restaurant. The happy hour menu has changed and my husband's favorite Chardonnay is no longer included, but Adrian bought him a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc which was very tasty for $8. Adrian is a wonderful bartender and we enjoy his service! Sad to hear Jenna moved on too! Why is it all the good people leave, but then you have Quincy at the chandelier bar yelling at customers, not serving customers, telling you he won't serve her until it's convenient for him. Thank goodness Larry was working at the sports bar after happy hour! He is a great guy and works so hard for the casino and his customers!

This place is so UNDERRATED! Such a peaceful atmosphere, consistent food, and chill staff; I can't…read morebelieve that Washoe Public House isn't getting the hype it deserves! The eating area is very spacious and commodious. Though this place has a casual vibe, the presentation of the food is totally fine-dining material. Each dish, especially the Citrus glazed salmon, is served as a piece of art. I've been here around three times before I installed yelp, and am excited to finally leave a review. The short rib, was absolutely amazing. The short rib was so tender, and each brussels sprout was a literal flavor bomb. The brussels sprouts I've had at other places have flavor only on the exterior, whereas the brussels sprouts here play a different game. The short rib is served in a really big portion. Though it may look dark from the photos, there are actually three big pieces. I loved loved loved the sauce; there's a sweet tangy taste to it, though it reminded me a lot of BBQ sauce. This short rib was a win. Chefs kiss. The truffle lasagna was terrific; so much sauce in between the lasagna layers. I could absolutely make out the truffle flavor in this dish. However, I recommend eating this dish quickly, as the lasagna stiffens really quickly. Thirty minutes after it was served, I went it to take another bite, and it wasn't as good anymore. The ceasar salad +beef is a great choice for a light but filling meal when you're currently on a healthy diet. Each dish here comes in giant portions, but even after you finish this salad, it won't feel too heavy on your body. I think it's because Washoe is really light on the dressing levels; perfecting the amount so it doesn't overtake the fresh flavor of the greens or leave the salad bland and insipid. However, the beef was a bit too well done and on the firmer side. The first time coming here, I was totally shocked to find out that the food they served did not match the relaxed and informal vibe the setting sets up. Not a bad thing at all. Creates a laid-back vibe while still getting high quality food.

It's been awhile since my last review, so figured it s time to update it…read more We have been here often over the last eight years - usually for lunch but an occasional dinner or drinks and apps on the patio with friends. Our most recent visit was dinner to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary. It still maintains it's casual atmosphere. The entrance has shifted to the Ridge Street side of the building. A good decision. It always felt a bit cramped to check in in the bar area especially when they are busy. Dining area is now mostly in the back room. While the setting is casual, the food is upscale - including the burgers. They offer game meats, elk, kangaroo, venison, and wild boar, in addition to high end beef and a small selection of seafood. They also have a few vegetarian/vegan options. I had the Citrus Glazed Salmon with root vegetables and squash. It was very good. The salmon was fresh and and flaky and perfectly cooked. My husband had the Rock Candy Short Rib. He deemed it "acceptable" Mine was paired with a light dry Savengon Blanc. Service was good and our satisfaction was checked. I debated between a 4 or 5 star experience - I decided on 5 mostly due to the quality of the meal. Return visit? Yes.
