Another wonderful meal at Bistro 7. After a travel day of delays getting home, my wife, mother-in-law and I were ready for a nice dinner and immediately remembered our previous experience in this place. The restaurant is elegantly decorated and the service is always amazing. Sarah took great care of our table and was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu. She stopped by often to offer refills or see if we needed anything to make our dinner more enjoyable. My wife and I chose some lower carb options: Chicken Piccata w/Zoodles and Sea Bass w/double veggies (pictured) both were excellent flavor packed and delicious! My mother-in-law ordered her longtime favorite French Dip sandwich with au jus and a bowl of tomato Brie bisque. This is a great restaurant located in South Reno and is an amazing choice for lunch or dinner!

New menu, new owners. Service fantastic and ambiance still warm and has a trendy feel. Deviled eggs still on the menu along with a few other favorites. I visited for happy hour and had a five star feel!!!

Miso glazed cod (I think it was cod anyway, can't remember, but delicious anyway!)

Attentive staff, nice open ambiance, really delicious food. It's a bit on the spends side, but I highly doubt anything has been frozen. Everything seemed to be made in house. Happy hour prices are only if you sit in the bar area. They have a nice patio/party room you can rent out as well. We will be back.

Miso crusted Chilean sea bass with forbidden rice and asparagus. Their signature dish.
    Chuck S.

Bottom line: the steak and sides are consistently disappointing. The Chilean sea bass is the favorite for a reason. The fish tacos are also worth getting. Food: Ive eaten here many times. The food is just ok. The miso glazed Chilean sea bass stands out as their best dish. It's flaky and has the right balance of savory and fresh. The steaks are usually very bland, almost to the point of tedious to eat. The sides are so bland you'd swear it's a cardiac low-sodium diet on a hospital tray. Service: always great. Freshly made mini cookies for free at the concierge counter while you wait to be seated is a nice touch. Ambiance: Upscale and classy. A favorite spot for my employer to use when recruiting.

Black n blue burger with clam chowder

I had the black and blue burger, which came with a pretzel roll and I guess I was unaware of that. The pretzel roll was pretty dry and so was the burger. I ended up taking it home for my husband. It was kind of very uneventful. I wish I would've ordered the bison burger, which had a brioche roll. I didn't realize we could choose what roll we could choose from, come to find out. So that I was not impressed by. I did like their clam chowder. The burger came with either fries, a salad, or soup so I chose the clam chowder. Which like I said, it was very tasty. The atmosphere at bistro seven is a little more upscale but at the same time casual. They have a 20% off any menu item during happy hour so that was a bonus.

Bistro 7 signature dish...Miso Crusted Chilean Sea Bass. This is an amazing & delicious dish...try it! Julie A

The very first New Year's Eve at Bistro 7 was a big success. The restaurant was hopping with excitement and the ambiance of the restaurant was elegant as always. A full house with so many happy customers wearing Happy New Year hats. A very special New Year's Eve 5 course menu was presented. A crustini, lobster bisque soup, portobello mushroom, Beef Wellington and cheesecake. These were my choices of food for the evening. The lobster bisque soup was off the chart. Thank you Bistro 7 for always having Five Star Food, beautiful ambiance and staff that really cares about the customer's dining experience. See you again for happy hour and my favorite Tuna Poke Appetizer and my favorite Miso Crusted Chilean Sea Bass in 2026. Cheers. Julie A

Is it okay to admit this is my 3rd night in a row of coming to Bistro 7 on a work trip?!? I'm heading to the airport soon and I did look around for another place for dinner. While there's plenty of options, I returned bcuz *) amazing food, *) amazing staff *) excellent service *) happy hour! Tonight, I wayyyy over ordered but it's so worth it! I ordered their market salad (which is to die for!!!), lamb lollies, and Chilean sea bass, gluten free style. Kieran at the bar helped me choose a nice wine to go with it, I settled on the CA Bonono (spelling?) Side note! I got to meet Erin, one of the owners, she is amazing! She gave an impromptu tour of the patio room, which would be fabulous for parties over 15 people. Also know that the patio is noisy, you can hear local traffic. Overall, and excellent experience over three nights. This is my new favorite eating spot in Reno! I'll be back and bringing others with me!

Canned tomato paste Will sneak this in next time
    David D.

When I eat out I prefer to dine on somthing that is up-leveled from what I can make in my kitchen. Will get back to this point. We ate at the bar on a Wednesday was moderately crowded which is good. Place is super cool inside and if you squint and look away from the windows and shake your head real fast for a min you can actually fool yourself into thinking you're not in a Reno strip mall establishment--well done. Wife had beet salad I had the pizza margarita. Pizza tasted like Heintz tomato paste with freeze dried crust--could do better at home Wife--who is the Mother Theresa of salad--was trying to be positive but indicated repeatedly that the dressing was gray popupon and that the salad was built incorrectly (bunch of stuff blobbed on top of lettuce). I dont know, maybe we'll sneak in food from home next time. Maybe we'll keep driving past or maybe we'll just stop for a drink. Keep squinting people we can delusion past strip malls if we work together !!! One love

3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Quality/Quantity - We (my wife) come here all the time, but this is the first time we were here for Happy Hour. If you are following, HH has been my most recent "kick." I had to drive my buddy to the airport, so we had dinner at 4pm today... I just had lunch at 1pm on Mt Rose... Okay, so not dinner, just HH. :) My buddy and I got the following: Brie Potstickers - Personally, I would NOT call these potstickers, they are more like "wonton" wrappers...? It did taste good. Loved that jam, well balanced. Steam Clams - Wow, so impressed with this. Good flavors and generous portions. With fresh baked bread, I believed baked in-house. My buddy tried to soak up all the juices/sauce with that bread. See pictures. Spinach Dip - I believe it was also made from scratch? In-house...? It was okay. But again, that fresh baked bread!!! Amazing!!! Crispy Calamari - This and the clams were a hit. I can highly recommend this. Meaty, fried well, nice sweet sauce, etc. And to wash it all down, one of each of the Sauvignon Blancs - Justin and Kim Crawford. My buddy got two glasses of Four Graces Pinot Noir. And that second glass was a very generous pour, see picture. Complimentary cookies when you come in and leave, which were so GOOD! Many menus, specials, etc. Atmosphere - Beautiful decor, still maintained well. Even the men's room still looks new, modern, etc. See pictures. See their decent size selection of wines, sorry my pictures do not do it justice. Also check out the semi open kitchen, pizza oven, etc. I just noticed the outside patio?!?! Semi private area. Maybe I can have an event here in the future? It accommodates up to 40 people. Plenty of parking, but then again who eats at 4pm?!?! See pictures. Open 6 days a week, closed Sundays. See my picture, website, or Yelp for business hours. Service - 5 stars. Kyle and the rest of the team, including the manager, were all welcoming and professional and attentive. Price - $97 + generous tip. I felt a little expensive for what we got, especially compared to all the other HH we have been visiting; see ALL my other Reno HH reviews! Might skip the HH here in the future and go back to coming for main dining. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2008.

    Mushroom soup
    Gabbi L.

It's been a minute since I've been to the Bistro and I try to catch them when they have specials. The mushroom soup was absolutely out of bounds! That woodsy flavor of mushrooms was not overpowered by the rest of the soup. The blackened grouper was done to perfection!!! Thank you Bistro 7 for another wonderful dinner!

Love this little gem of a restaurant! It's so beautiful inside and service is always excellent. Met my daughter for Happy Hour and we started with sparkling rose which was refreshing and delicious. We ordered the "potstickers", tempura green beans and hummus. Everything was so good. The only suggestion I'd make it to serve pita bread slices or pita chips with the hummus instead of tortilla chips. Great place and highly recommend!

We were in Reno for a theater performance and randomly picked a place for dinner. This place did not disappoint. We walked in and asked if we had reservation, we said no and they said they were booked. Asked if we wanted to sit at bar area. We were ok with that. They took us immediately. The waiter was nice and considerate, answering all our questions regaring the food and accomodations. If he didnt know he went to ask. Food was great! I got the firewood vegetarian pizza, my sis got the Margarita Pizza. My bro in law got the salmom. We asked for subsitute of vegetable which was colorful cawflour. They d said wouldnt accomodate brocholi or aspargus. oh well. My bf got the Lamb plate Said it was cook to perfection and was delious. My daughter got the grilled cheese and fries and said it was great. Over all great food experience. We were all were satiafied and would come back again to try a different dish. The ambiance was quiet and calm. Lots of selection for wine. The wine they offer was all along thw wall. Will come back again soon when we are back iin Reno. Highly recommend go check it out.

The sauce is rich without being too heavy and the meatballs are so juicy and delicious. It comes with bread for dipping and I love the crispiness against the warm sauce. This is one of the best sandwiches I've had. I also got clam chowder as my side which was also really good, not too salty. The service was really great! Any of the servers who saw we had empty glasses refilled them or cleared plates. There is a beautiful outdoor patio area, it was about a 30 minute wait. Airy and bright atmosphere, lots of windows and outdoor patio seating on those nice days. I tried the grilled cheese with short rib and homemade chips. The ribs were tender and the sauce savory. It was a little light on the cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich. I expected a pull of cheese when biting it but it was more like a splattering of shredded cheese on the short ribs. Flavorful overall and the bread toasty. My coworker had the Twisted Bahn Mi vietnamese sandwich. Now we are both from Northern CA and had plenty of vietnamese sandwiches there but let's do a side by side. Starting with the bread. Twisted version was a softer hogie kind of roll. Where traditional viet sandwiches use a baguette roll with a crispy outer crust and firm inside. The meat. Twisted version had shredded pork, more like pulled pork. It was slathered in a korean style sauce. Traditional viet sandwiches typically use grilled meats without any sauces. The condiments. This is where both Twisted and traditional are similar and different. Shredded carrots, daikon radish, cilantro, mint leaves are similar. What's different is the heavy use of shiracha aioli in the Twisted and traditional using pork liver pâté with mayo. So am I saying the Twisted Bahn Mi is bad? No, just stating it is not the same as traditional Bahn Mi and better to know than to be surprised. Would I order it, no because I an used to traditional. The grilled pork belly and bacon mac and cheese appetizers were great! I would consider those two as my entree! If you are in the area, give Twisted a try.

For example, one item of the three we ordered was pulled pork sliders - we were then given the choice of teriyaki or BBQ sauces. I don't know anywhere else in town where you can actually customize your happy hour food! We ended up choosing carne asada street tacos, teriyaki pulled pork sliders, and spinach-artichoke dip; see photo. The tacos were delicious and authentic street style. The sliders were hearty and delicious. And the spinach-artichoke dip was absolutely fantastic. (I make my own dip at home that I love and this was shockingly similar; couldn't stop eating it!). Btw the two of us, we still couldn't finish our happy hour meal; substantial, for sure, and a great value. Our server/bartender was Mikayla and she was WONDERFUL! This was not a cake at all. It was a hot skillet of creamy and chunky lump crab with perfectly toasted and oiled sourdough bread. Absolutely delish! Our next trial was the Foie Gras two ways. I'm not a huge Foie gras guy but the person who I was dining with is, and she said it was very good. I thought it was tasty but its, just not my favorite dish. We also ordered the deep fried goats cheese. This dish comes with a spring mix salad and roasted beets along with toasted sourdough. Very large portion and very tasty. Even the orange exterior paint job holds up! Open kitchen. Our favorite concepts! Nice bar area, small dining area, semi private dining for a few tables in the rear of the building, and lastly outdoor dining. See pictures. Small parking lot in the rear (as per my wife), but plenty of free 2 hour street parking. Only open 3 days a week for dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Call to confirm days and hours, good luck. Interesting enough for a Saturday evening, the restaurant was only half full?!?! Service - Not sure when the last time we have been here, we have been working on the last year trying to get reservations. No website, not on Open Table, Tock, Yelp reservations, etc... My wife finally left a message and 4 days later you called her back to confirm, thank you. The front of the house was welcoming. Got here a few minutes early and she and he sat us down immediately. The "bus boy" was good, got us water, ice, etc. The waiter was okay, not good or bad. Good to see that the restaurant was fully staffed, I was worried about the major reduction in days and hours. We stayed 3 hours, and never felt rushed to leave. As the last guests were leaving, we got our que, lol. So good to enjoy a great meal with good friends. Price - $530 + tip. Expensive, but worth it. Nice treat, especially for our friends. Wow, it's been a long time since I have seen a hand written check. And for a party of 6, no automatic tip?!?! Thank you. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success for the last 25+ years. And the success of your other restaurant Kauboi Izakaya (2016) a few blocks north of here. The margarita on their cocktail menu was delicious. The tequila was noted to have a spice to it but the drink wasn't spicy, instead it was refreshing and not sweet (which I dislike in a margarita). We tried 4 different appetizers. My favorite was the shrimp lettuce wraps 5/5. They were messy to eat, but the flavors are really nice. The chicken tacos were also good with the coleslaw crunch. The potstickers themselves were more a 4/5 for me with the sauce being better than a lot of others I've tried. The bruschetta was my least favorite 3/5, bread could have been a little more crisp, and I think with tomatoes not being in season, it wasn't as flavorful.

There were about thirty of us, accommodated by sliding multiple tables together, which was nice. However, as only ONE server was assigned to us, it gave her a busy night; but she (didn't get her name) handled it with good humor, skill and a lot of genuine smiles. I ordered chicken parmesan, which when delivered had been pounded thin, breaded and fried and served with a little spaghetti. Overall, I found the dish to be OK, but IMHO a bit pricey and not something I'd recommend to others. My BIG problem was finding a thin metal "ribbon"-like thing in my entrée. It was about four inches long and one end was coiled as tight as a spring. To me, it looked to be the result of aggressive knife sharpening. Our server wasn't around at the moment, so with the urging of a couple fellow diners, I called a man over who seemed to be assisting her. When I showed him the object, he said he thought it came out of their dishwashers (?) and he was sorry it got into my meal. He took the "ribbon" and left, looking for a manager, I thought. When our server began handing out our individual bills, the man hadn't returned, so I spoke with her instead. When I described what I had found, she looked genuinely shocked, so obviously the other guy hadn't shared the information with her. I told her that I was grateful I hadn't swallowed the spring, but I still felt a discount on my meal would be appropriate. When I was given my bill, a 25% discount had been applied to my entrée, or about $6.75. I didn't feel satisfied, but we had now been sitting for well over an hour and I needed to get up and walk off the stiffness in my leg muscles. Speaking ONLY for myself and not the group, I won't be returning.

I left my personal car in Reno and we had the rental SUV that will return to Sacramento, and I'll go back to Red Bluff. We decided to have our final field work meal here at Flowing Tide 2, located right on South Meadows Parkway. We all decided on fish and chips and I heard from one local guy, this was the place to go! Parking is easy, but entering into this pub sports bar, this place is DARK! Even after my eyes adjusted, it's pretty dark in here. We sat ourselves and a server was right over. Drink orders were taken and we all had the fish and chips that came with coleslaw as well. The food took a little while to come out, but not too long. Wow, those were some nice looking platters of fish and chips! Each order had 4 pieces of fish and a bunch of chips (fries). The server brought over the malt vinegar even without asking, good service! That fish and fries were super hot, I had to let it cool a little before tasting. The fish was nice and crispy and had good and well cooked fish inside that coating. The fries were normal. No mushy peas like in England ... not that I wanted that! I'll say this is a great place to get fish and chips. The burgers coming out looked good as well. There's gambling at the bar with poker machines if you wanted that. We all liked our food and now I'm finally headed home.

And there is a good beer selection including Revision beers! The happy hour food prices are great as well and the portion is still large, like the happy hour nachos. That's one of my husband's favorite things to get. There are also other deals like kids eat free with an adult meal on Wednesday. It just makes going out more reasonable. We usually have good service, that is relatively quick. We had a couple experiences where it was slow when they were busy. It seems like at some of those times, someone goes on break and it's hard for others to cover. All of the Flowing Tides are dark and I know that's there thing but that's my critique on the ambiance that I wish it was more light.
