Service is quick, most of the food is made to order so you may have a little wait but it's worth it. Portions and prices are very fair. Employees are always courteous.

Otherwise someone such as Winston Churchill will observe, as he did, "there goes a man with much to be modest about." I know nothing of this region or its cuisine. I am a New Yorker. But I have a regular business trip to what Seinfeld called "the sixth borough." Three years in a row, I have come, and I have eaten fried conch. I had never had it before, nor elsewhere. My opinion is based on this sample size. I saw at least three other establishments similar to Hook while enroute. But having checked out reviews, I had already decided this was the best choice. I mention the alternatives to say this specific type of fast food must be very popular. My order was fried fresh. I was there just before the lunch rush. The quality was excellent. The conch was just the right amount of chewiness and sea-food-i-ness. The breading was not too thick. The French fries were made by someone who knew the proper technique. There was bread underneath for soaking up excess hot sauce. The quantity was generous. I am the exact average height of an American male, and I had a moderate appetite; the small serving was ample, with a tiny bit of regrettable waste. The menu had an astonishing number of options, including meats and sides. The prices were all reasonable. I made a mistake pulling up. They have a drive through which opens later. I was parked in the waiting area. The guy inside came outside to scold me, but in a friendly manner that did not deter me from parking and then doing business with him. I note this for others so they don't break the rules. They also accept tips only in cash, not on the credit card.

One of the best dining experiences I have had. Coming from Atlanta we have a ton of great Cajun…read moreoptions but this really impressed. Everything from the ambiance to the food and even the service was phenomenal. Great dining room area with both an outdoor and indoor bar. We sat with the bartender AB that immediately greeted us with waters and their menu. They are currently running a pick 2 for $15.99 menu that has some pretty great options. We had 2 meals & chose the wings, blackened shrimp po boy with the small gumbo's. Wings were super crispy, juicy, and tender. With a nice light Smokey taste. They buffalo and blue cheese sauce was actually pretty impressive. The po boy had a good amount of shrimp to bread ratio, with a nice sauce included. The gumbo had a deep rich flavor, but was not overly heavy with fatty meats. We were also informed of the happy hour oyster special, so we ended up getting a few of the rockerfella and raw. The rockerfella was amazing with melty cheese, a nice garlic flavor, & served with crispy bread slices. The raw came with crackers, lemon, wine vinegar, and a tasty cocktail sauce. Both were delicious. Marco, the manager came and spoke with us about our experience which really showed the attention to detail this restaurant offers. After sharing our story of visiting New Orleans a few years ago and bragging about the beignets, he brought us 2 out to finish our meal. I have to say, these were better than the ones I've had at cafe beignet in NOLA. They were HOT out the fryer to the point where the powdered sugar was slightly melted. Crisp outside dough but gooey soft in the center. A unreal experience to end a fantastic meal. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Luckily my sister lives 5 mins from this place but I would easily drive a hour or 2 when visiting from out of town just for this experience. Marco and AB really went above and beyond to make sure this was a special outing on a regular ole' Monday, and we could not have left happier.

After seriously underestimating the Florida heat and walking a mile and a half to Voodoo, the…read moreexperience was worth every step. From the moment we walked in, the welcome was freakin' awesome. The New Orleans vibe was absolutely on point and set the tone for a great meal. Our waitress was fantastic--friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the menu. She recommended her favorite dish, and it ended up becoming my favorite too. Now, I'm a country boy, so the deviled eggs just weren't my style, but everything else more than made up for it. The cornbread was incredible. Honestly, I couldn't decide if I was eating cake or cornbread--it was that good. The barbecue shrimp was outstanding and easily one of my favorite dishes (our waitress clearly has great taste!). The fried oysters were cooked to perfection, and the baked chicken was seasoned and prepared just right. The gator tail was great with the sauce. I've had scalloped potatoes many times over the years, but these were on another level--definitely some for the record books. If you're looking for great food, an authentic New Orleans atmosphere, and excellent service, Voodoo is absolutely worth the visit.
