We had just finished a sail and needed a place for lunch. The wait at the most popular place was 30 minutes, so we wandered the main street and came upon Marek's. There were only 8 other people in the place, but it was comfortable and the service was quick and friendly. We ordered the Fish and Chips and a Chicken and Gouda Salad. The fish and chips were very disappointing as there was only 4 little pieces of fish. The fries were good though. It was not at all worth $21.00. The salad was ample enough, but the chicken was dry and the dressing was way too sweet. The shredded gouda did add an interesting flavor profile. I can't say we would recommend eating here. read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Marek's in Charlevoix! I had the whitefish entrée -- perfectly breaded and paired nicely with carrots. My wife loved her vegetarian fettuccine, which was full of hearty vegetables and beautifully seasoned. We sat outside on a perfect summer evening, and the ambiance was just right. Very average food. Very average service. Very average ambiance. On the one hand, The special baked spaghetti is actually baked fettuccine; the Brussels sprouts crumbled into ash, and our server was having a glass of wine at the bar with another clearly intoxicated customer. On the other hand, the portions are huge - one serving will feed four - the garlic bread was great, and our server was pleasant enough when she was at our table. A very pretty restaurant however if I was a large, hungry man I would be very disappointed. I ordered the fish (broiled) it wasn't a very big piece of fish for the price. The mash potatoes were cold and I'm not a huge fan of carrots. I just felt like it was a rip off dinner. Maybe if you served soup or a salad with a meal it would have felt like a better dinner. Got the pomegranate lemon mule to drink, was super refreshing! Then for dinner I had the Chicken Marsala Fettuccine, it was super different since I normally don't have chicken Marsala as pasta, I really liked it. Heavy gravy type sauce that made it a comfort type meal. I would get again. read more

We had dinner at Mareck last night, my husband, my son and I. It was great, very warm decor, extremely friendly and helpful staff and delicious food. Their daily specials, are very reasonable and generous and delicious , my husband and I had the perch dinner, very fresh perch lightly battered with carrots and mashed potatoes, it was very tasty. My son had the the NY strip steak, that was grilled just the way he asked, it was a generous and tender 16oz NY strip steak, with whipped potatoes and carrots. We didn't have room for dessert, but it sounded very tempting. We can't wait to try the Wednesday night special , Prime Rib beef stroganoff only $16 dollars. I highly recommend , this place is quickly becoming our next favorite in town. read more

Marek's Harbor Grill is probably the best and only fine dining spot in Charlevoix. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Our server, Chris was wonderful to chat with. She made good recommendations, and knows the dishes well. My friend and I ended up ordering the mussels & garlic appetizer which was light enough to not fill up on, but very flavorful. For the main course, we ordered the 20 oz cut of prime rib. I'm a big fan of prime rib, and this one ranks in my top 2. It was exceptional. Marek's is now a must-do on my future visits to Charlevoix. read more

I got an amazing ribeye steak that was perfectly cooked and tried their salmon. The salmon had a great crust on it as well. Mashed potato side and cooked carrots were a great addition. Excellent location, friendly servers, great extensive menu and very good food make this fun newer dinning spot a must go to in downtown Charlevoix. Just a quick walk from the draw bridge, we visited for the first time on a very busy Sunday evening on the 4th of July holiday week. We were seated immediately which was a surprise to us! Our friendly server greeted us almost immediately and offered us a wine and drink menu. Soon after our drinks were ordered we were presented with the menu which is very complete and pretty extensive. Honestly, pretty much everything on the menu was interesting and enticing! It was hard to decide. Looking around at others food orders helped us make our decisions. The restaurant is long and narrow so tables are quite close together so it's easy to see other diners entrees. After some deliberation and suggestions from our server, we chose the Sunday night special of prime rib and walleye combination and a London broil. Both were prepared perfectly as ordered. In fact we remarked on how prefect they both came out and paired with smashed potatoes and sautéed carrots as accompaniments. A small side salad reasonably priced at $6.00 was a welcome choice too. Others around us had hamburgers, pasta, steak and shrimp kabobs and a chicken entree. All looked delicious. The dessert menu sounded great too but we didn't partake on this night. Reasonable prices were also noted on many of the selections we observed and the portions are normally sized if not quite generous. We will be back soon for sure! We would highly recommend visiting the owners other location, Bayside restaurant at Bay Harbor too. They've got the perfect recipe for success at both locations it seems. read more

We are outside because we had our dog with us so I can't speak to the ambiance. Service was great! Prices are steep but this is a resort town and the quality lives up to the price. My husband had the chicken Gouda salad with candied pecans and dried cherries. The dressing was yummy! I had the cheesesteak sandwich with sautéed onions and peppers. Terrific au jus! Don't let the beer battered fries intimidate you. They were great also. They even brought water out for the dog. The chocolate mousse dessert was so smooth and enough to share. read more

My parents and I came here for what should have been a wonderful end to our vacation. Instead we spent over a $100 for disrespect and a complete disregard for our party's food allergies. My mom has a gluten and a onion allergy. A request was made for a New York strip with a side of a potatoe. Apparently it was too hard to just make a side of potatoes without onion or garlic in them. We asked for just a baked potatoe with a side of carrots but that was too difficult to achieve without dowsing either in garlic or onion. The chef was incapable or just unwilling of cooking a basic potatoe. The waitress kept saying how "sweet" my mom was in consideration of the bad chef. If you can't just cook a plain steak with salt, pepper and butter with a basic potatoe then what good are you. How can you call yourself a chef. This is something a home chef can accomplish. If you dine here, I hope you just order exactly as the menu describes otherwise the "chef" won't be able to accommodate. read more

Way over priced for what you get. Lobster chowder was bland and had more potato in it than lobster. Charlevoix Sunset cocktail was awful. Parmesan whitefish wasn't bad but wasn't worth $32 for the portion you get. The smoked whitefish dip was the highlight and was delicious. It and the extremely nice server lady was what got this 3 stars and not 2. Ambiance is very dark so bring a flashlight to read your menu. read more

We dined here last night with a group of 11. The food and service was pretty good. A little pricey for what it is and a $30 corkage fee seemed a bit steep. A walleye fillet over some steamed carrots and puréed potatoes with a fillet/mushroom skewer was good but not $50 worth in my opinion. Best meal of our vacation! This is a new place opened about 6 weeks ago by an experienced young guy! I had an amazing Old Fashion from the bar! Our food was amazing. The burger and fries were top shelf! Others had salmon, white fish, and the filet and shrimp appetizer. All were amazing.
