    Filet mignon, cooked to perfection.

How have I been coming up here for the past 30 years and never eaten here?! Our food was delicious and our waiter was great. I ordered the filet mignon and it was so tender and delicious. My husband had the fish, which he was very happy with. I rarely give out a five star, but they deserve it. We'll be back.

The restaurant is next to our Bed and Breakfast! The food was good! My husband planned to have whitefish and he said it's great! I stole some of his food, it was light and healthy. No fishy smell. Sprinkle more salt and pepper if you are not that healthy! I got both Calamari and Tuna both of them were good, I like both and ate them all. I like the way they made calamari but for the tuna, it would be better if they could give me more sauce on top or put it on the side. I ended up dipping the tuna in my calamari sauce. The bread was fresh and delicious! I wish it came with fresh butter. Service was okay, the restaurant get busy real quick and it's not easy to find our guy. Overall it was a nice dinner!

Teeny tiny table in the back shouldn't exist. You'll need a shoe horn to get out

This is fine dining in Charlevoix and you won't be disappointed. I'm surprised the average number of stars isn't at least four. Who can resist the "GG," an old house converted into an elegant restaurant with white linens and stylish bar area? My husband and I were initially seated at a teeny table awkwardly sandwiched between two tables along a bay window/curved wall. This table shouldn't exist imo; it's unreasonably close to other diners. We were kindly moved to a much better table. I wasn't very adventurous in ordering the Caesar salad with grilled chicken but it certainly didn't ruin the experience. Everything about it was wonderful and masterfully presented. The variety bread basket with flavored butter is absolutely delicious. I truly could have overeaten on that alone. This establishment is so cozy and romantic, and you're surrounded by beautiful wallpaper, china, woodwork and more. Can't wait to go back!

Saturday night during the off season and we came to this old staple. This place has been around for years but we hadn't been in a while. Highly recommend the mushroom soup, it had really good flavors. I had the artichokes and they were a nice starter. We also had Caesar salads which would have been better with less dressing. Our server was super friendly and very responsive. The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed.

    Birthday gift

We along with another couple went to Grey Gables (Nov 2nd) and our waitress was Pam( very loud spoken but nice). We each ordered the 2 for$60. I showed Pam my $10 birthday gift(email ) and she said I could not use it as I was ordering a special. I then told her I would order a beer so I could use my gift. She brought me a beer and I was telling my wife I would use gift for my beer. Pam very loudly said you can't use it for the beer. I said I'm paying regular price for beer. Again Pam walking away said I could only use the gift if I ordered an Entree. I tried to ask her if I could buy a desert and use my gift certificate but she just walked away. Looking at email there is nothing about only can be used for entree. I just felt she was very short with me and did not want to hear anything I said. The food was awesome as usual. Bob

Love Charlevoix and now love Grey Gables. Had the week night special, two salads, two entrees and a bottle of wine for $60. What??? The food is absolutely delicious and the service at the bar is relaxed and fun. Go! You won't be disappointed.

This is where my second unbelievable meal in Charlevoix took place. The dinning experienced from service to meal quality is exquisite! From beginning to end I left with no regrets, a full stomach and wanting more. The corn bisque soup couldn't be more fresh.. the meatballs with their homemade sauce is next level.. the filet with mash is second to none... and the dessert which was an apple cobbler was the perfect ending. Will be coming back.

Love this place!…read more This has been one of my favorite spots up north for a long time, but they've actually improved on a good thing -- and the longer wait times of enthusiastic patrons are proof. Even though we had to wait an hour, getting here relatively early for dinner, they've made waiting pretty enjoyable. With many small tables and chairs tables overlooking the water, to both an inside and outside bar area, to an area with outdoor games for kids and adults, there's things to occupy the time. The views of lake charlevoix from the large outdoor seating area of the restaurant are terrific. The menu offers a few faves that are hard to find -- such as lobster rolls and the service is great too. We each got a summer salad and added lobster. The portions of lobster were large enough to justify the almost $40 each salad cost with added. We also got fries to share. And we had drinks while waiting for the table. So it wasn't a cheap night, but it was tasty, enjoyable and memorable.

The restaurant has a large parking lot but it could be confusing to those not knowing as the road leading to it is also where vehicles line up for the ferry. Our first go I opted for the Lobster roll and she went with the roasted vegetable grain bowl. Lobster roll was solid but the lobster was a little too cold to be delicious. She loved hers! Neat place that clearly has a following. Hope to happen back soon!

Well I couldn't get a reservation in the fall so my girlfriend and I tried again while taking a ski trip to Boyne Mountain . Yes, The location and ambiance is fabulous . We were graciously greeted and sat at table # 1 right by the windows looking out to the frozen lake truly a great table. Our waitress Janice a local greeted us and was very nice. Janice did a great job going through the menu which I will added the prices were very fare . The wine and cocktail list were also impressive with a wide offering in price and choice. We decided on a Malbec to start. Then they brought out a the welcoming taste of salmon pate on a cucumber which we both found to be very tasty . After reviewing the menu we chose to bypass an appetizer for fear of just getting too much food and not finishing our dinner . After I told my girlfriend how good whitefish is in Michigan we both ordered that instead of the salmon or short ribs that also looked enticing. . Before our entree was served we had the warm bread and garlic butter that was terrific and tempting to eat the whole basket . Our dinners were served very quickly even though the restaurant was sold out . As we took the first bites of the white fish I was extremely disappointed . The breading had absolutely zero seasoning or flavor . The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly but the breading was completely flavorless taking away from the fish. Neither of us finished the dish and my girlfriend tried adding salt just to get some flavor but it didn't make it any better . I was going to order dessert but we were so disappointed after our dinner we chose to bypass dessert . . I did order a coffee since they didn't have cappuccino. I will say the coffee was very good , but what good restaurant doesn't have a cappuccino machine . As a side note the bathroom very nicely decorated in old wine box shingles on the wall and was very clean . I gave 3 stars simply because the Walloon Inn has been around so long and highly acclaimed as one of the better restaurants in the area. This was very disappointing . I may come back with my business partner and hope my experience will be better . Until next time .
