Lunch with a view at Rick's
    Amanda L.

Going to school in Ann Arbor, it tickled me to no end seeing a Rick's Cafe in Fishtown of all places haha! Sadly, there are no sharkbowls at this Rick's - I already asked :P But if you're looking for a sit down restaurant with a view in Leland, this is your spot! Located in the heart of Fishtown, you get a view of the water dining outdoors here & it's such a vibe. I was a bit confused because I believe Rick's Cafe and The Cove are connected/the same business. I think Rick's just refers to the downstairs, outdoor dining level of The Cove. The menu is small - like SUPER small. It's about 7 items, so the food options are definitely limited, which is fine. I opted for the smoked whitefish caesar salad, which was solid, nothing remarkable, but solid. They also had a very interested drink option - a chubby mary. It was a bloody mary with a whole smoked fish inside of it haha. My friend who got it said it was good, food and drink all in one glass - how innovative XD!

This place is all about the location. We snagged a table waterside for lunch on a Wednesday. We did have great service but the food was very meh. Tried the cherry chicken salad. Filling was okay but wrap was tough and chewy. Burger extremely mediocre. No fries because there's no fryer downstairs. Kettle chips only. Cocktails are super pricey, as expected in a touristy spot. In all one expensive lunch with a nice view.

First dining in experience since the Covid pandemic. Nice outdoor area. Required to wear masks to table but then take them off. Tables are spaced out. Nice view of the water with the buildings in the back. Had the perfect basket. It was very good. Loved the batter on the fish. Their have cut fries are really good too. Would love to come back here with a full menu.

    Chubby Mary

Rick's is a must stop in Leland for a chubby mary (bloody mary with a smoked chub). The fish adds no "fishy" taste to the bloody mary but the bloody mary definitely infuses the smoked chub. It's a great combination of flavors.

the cutest little casual spot right next to the dam.... had a glass of french rose, the fish dip pate and a whitefish caesar - all incredibly yummy! our server Chris was 5 star. super friendly and the perfect amount of attentive. highly recommend a quick little stop for a snack in fish town!

Why not... They have good food, nice beer selection, and great vibe... Get yourself a cheeseburger in paradise! The Founders and Bells selection is awesome:) they have a small menu but come here you won't regret it!

We had to make a reservation for a Friday night on Memorial Day weekend. Service was excellent. The bar seating never filled up so that's your best chance if you didn't make a reservation! It's on the smaller side of a place, but it is very cute and you can tell you're about to eat a really great meal!

Consistently so delicious and creative. I also like that they let us share (and gave two plates for us both). It was busy and they gave us a seat on the back porch after 20 min or so without previous reservations. We couldn't reach them by phone; so just went in person. Their soups are my favorite thing. I'd bathe in it. This time was celery root and 5 years ago was parsnip. They have the same base of garlic, onion, cream puréed and just know how to do it. Excellent service each time too! My husband loved the SALAD (which he had never said in his life before) as well as the wagyu steak dish and Butterscotch mousse w/ short bread cookie that was best we have ever had (the chefs step dads recipe). After that they gave an extra little snacky of peanut brittle and pop rock orange like candy. The kimchi fritters were my other favorite dish of the night. Very happy cool place.

I started with their Seafood Chowder ($10) this is said to be loaded with Shrimp, Clams and Crab. I could identify these things individually, however taste wise it was excellent.  I definitely wished the cup of it had been bigger. Price seems a little steep for portion size, but no complaints taste wise. I then ordered their Fried Chicken ($19) this had Golden-Fried Breast, Drum and Thigh with Mashed Potato and asparagus. The chicken was excellent, well seasoned and crispy, but still juicy. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were undercooked. A little harder then I prefer them to be, but edible and at least it was real potatoes. The service was great. Super cheerful and helpful. They accidentally put someone else order on my bill and they corrected it with cheer. Overall a couple minor issues, but still a solid 4 star review for me. Would I return? Absolutely!

The breakfast burritos were so good, it really hit the spot, although, might want to skip the mimosas if you're looking for an upscale bevvie. That's not to say, we didn't enjoy ourselves... our friend purchased the meal, and after we left, we headed to a winery where she tracked us down and admitted to running the card for the wrong ticket. Mistakes happen, but to track us down, explain the error, we appreciate the due diligence bc it was a lot more expensive, and she didn't have to do the extra effort! Food was yum, but the Texas toast is just toast. we love Hannah!!!!
