Amazing experience eating outside watching the fish area -- 5 star for the outdoor vibes. Service 3-4 star. Food taste and portions for the price 3 star. It's a great place to stop while in Leland as the ambience is worth it and every place is pricy anyway. So I'd recommend.

Going to school in Ann Arbor, it tickled me to no end seeing a Rick's Cafe in Fishtown of all places haha! Sadly, there are no sharkbowls at this Rick's - I already asked :P But if you're looking for a sit down restaurant with a view in Leland, this is your spot! Located in the heart of Fishtown, you get a view of the water dining outdoors here & it's such a vibe. I was a bit confused because I believe Rick's Cafe and The Cove are connected/the same business. I think Rick's just refers to the downstairs, outdoor dining level of The Cove. The menu is small - like SUPER small. It's about 7 items, so the food options are definitely limited, which is fine. I opted for the smoked whitefish caesar salad, which was solid, nothing remarkable, but solid. They also had a very interested drink option - a chubby mary. It was a bloody mary with a whole smoked fish inside of it haha. My friend who got it said it was good, food and drink all in one glass - how innovative XD!

This place is all about the location. We snagged a table waterside for lunch on a Wednesday. We did have great service but the food was very meh. Tried the cherry chicken salad. Filling was okay but wrap was tough and chewy. Burger extremely mediocre. No fries because there's no fryer downstairs. Kettle chips only. Cocktails are super pricey, as expected in a touristy spot. In all one expensive lunch with a nice view.

First dining in experience since the Covid pandemic. Nice outdoor area. Required to wear masks to table but then take them off. Tables are spaced out. Nice view of the water with the buildings in the back. Had the perfect basket. It was very good. Loved the batter on the fish. Their have cut fries are really good too. Would love to come back here with a full menu.

So we got there and there was a 30-40 minute wait time, but it ended up being 20 minutes before we got seated. We were then intorduced to our waiter, who was extremely nice. i got a Diet Coke and it tasted fantastic, no issues whatsoever. The menu looked phenomena, with tons of tasty dishes, but i ended up getting Whitefish and chips, and they were phenomenal. The fries were amazing, the waiter even brought us extra ketchup without us even asking. The fish also tasted very good, basic whitefish, but the crispy and crunchy taste was just soooo good. we tipped $50 just for the service and the quality of the food. If I lived around the area, I would come here often. Highly recommend eating here and visiting Leland!

Nice shades table at this time with great breeze on the riverfront/marina area. We all ordered fresh fish with half of getting the almond Whitefish ($30) and it was outstanding! One BIL got the New Orleans Whitefish ($33) and the other BIL got the Whitefish tacos ($21) and it was unanimous...everyone loved the food. What really made our night special was our server Julie! She was super friendly, fun, helpful and very prompt. She is a precious asset for the restaurant!

If that's what you're looking for, you'll be pleased. But if you're looking for that old and faded in the best sense Bluebird vibe, you'll likely find the experience jarring. It's like they thought "what's the exact opposite of the old ambiance?" and then leaned hard into that. You feel like you're at any of 1,000 generic sports bars in anywhere, USA. The food was not the same either. Yes, they still have their whitefish, but it's a significantly smaller portion and the presentation was basically toss-it-on-a-plate-with-some-fries-and-call-it-good. Probably should have ordered the cheaper basket, because fine dining it ain't. The burger was a solid D. Ordered medium rare but it was a hammered well done, and anything other than meat on a bun now costs significantly extra. Adding on cheese and making it deluxe took a rather small burger up to near $20, which was more than the large pizza we also ordered. The pizza was good though, so if we ever went back, which we no longer plan to, we'd get that again. Cedar Tavern pizza still puts it to shame though, and since the rest of their food is much better and MUCH cheaper, it'll be a shorter boat trip for us. Most distressingly, they no longer have a salad bar, let alone any of the classic salads or cinnamon bread they used to serve. No peas and peanuts. No bowtie pasta salad. None of it. If she was still with us, my grandma would have mourned the loss of the peas and peanuts, let alone all the other changes. It seems like they know the food isn't really the draw anymore, because their website doesn't even suggest a menu - it's ALLLLL about the merch. Which they have a TON of. Including a line marketing themselves as a "yacht club." Which is funny because the old TC Yacht Club and the old Bluebird had a similar sort of vibe. The outdoor seating does have a nice perch over the Carp still though, and I would say that that is an improvement to the old setup. I'm sure visitors to Leland who never knew the old restaurant will find something to like (or at least a lot less to dislike). But I think everyone in our quite extended family have now tried it, and we're all in agreement about the new place: nice outdoor seating, higher prices, worse food and completely altered (for the worse) atmosphere.

Riverside was a favorite of ours when Kate owned it, and over the past few years we've kept coming back hoping to see the new owners develop a more consistent kitchen and, importantly, a menu with an identity of its own rather than one that sometimes felt like it was trying to emulate the best restaurants around the area. Last night delivered. The food was consistently good across the table--the chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection, the pasta was excellent, and the accompaniments felt thoughtful and well executed. And please, whatever you do, never get rid of the whipped mashed potatoes. Those have consistently been something Riverside does very well. The focaccia with corn was fabulous and butter with honey is way better than previous iterations of butter with olives??? Nobody wants that. Service got off to a very delayed start, but once our server found a rhythm, things got back on track and the rest of the evening flowed much better. It feels like Riverside is beginning to settle into what it wants to be rather than chasing something they're not, and that's encouraging to see. We've been waiting for that. Last night was the most confident and consistent the restaurant has felt in a while, and we're hopeful they keep heading in this direction.

My partner's mixed green salad had one mushroom, thinly sliced, not marinated definitely. It was just a bunch of arugula with pine sprinkled on top of it. 4. The vegetable portage soup was actually good. 5. The bread was fine too 6. The tomato salad thin was basically a big slice of tomato with some other stuff on top of it. Only the pickled strawberries were good. But if you want tomato juice get that salad 7. The brannzino was a whole fish. Okay that sounds interesting and looked good. But wait, they didn't give separate plates for deboning it. Cherry on top-also took away the cutlery after the last course. So no cutlery, no plate, and no deboning skills in their regular amateur customer. That's was fun. 8. Lamb chops were under seasoned and unevenly cooked and fatty. 9. Of course didn't even bother asking for dessert. 10. They gave us some small cookies for dessert on the house. That was ok. 11.
