There was no acknowledgment of the miscommunication or incorrect initial coding .. just a firm statement that it was "my responsibility." When I made my appointment, I was explicitly told over the phone that they accepted CareCredit. When I arrived, however, I was told they could not accept it for my consultation because the charge was under $250. There seems to be confusion between the minimum transaction amount required for promotional financing and the minimum amount required to use a CareCredit account. Those are not the same thing. During my consultation, I was told that I was not a candidate for the procedure I had been referred for and that I would instead need an extraction. I was understandably devastated, but proceeded with the necessary imaging so I could understand my options. That imaging was over $200 but, conveniently, still below their alleged $250 minimum for CareCredit. I was then given a treatment estimate of over $5,000. I was told that the periodontist had spoken with my primary dentist and that my dentist would be calling me to discuss the situation and possible options. I specifically said I wanted to speak with him before agreeing to any further treatment. Despite following up, I never received that call, so I have no idea what was actually discussed. The billing experience was equally frustrating. Before I left, I was repeatedly asked to pay for the imaging, but was told I could not use CareCredit. No one offered to combine the consultation and imaging charges so that the total could be processed through CareCredit. Instead, I was directed toward other payment options. I declined and left the balance unpaid. I have since seen other reviews mentioning concerns about billing transparency, and unfortunately, my experience reinforced those concerns. I am happy to pay any legitimate remaining balance using CareCredit, as I was told when I scheduled that this office accepted it. I am certain that CareCredit's merchant department will address whether this office's payment practices comply with their agreement. One final note: the office is located in a dilapidated building that is currently under construction. Given the cost of these services, I was surprised that there was no dedicated patient restroom, only a single women's restroom in the hallway shared by other businesses. I waited for nearly 10 minutes for the person occupying the restroom to come out, and then gave up and stopped elsewhere on my way home.

I moved to Orange County last year, so I haven't gone back in a while because of the distance. They called me out of the blue to see if I would like to book an appointment. I ultimately agreed since I loved this dentist. They booked my appointment without asking me about my insurance. It's not until I came in they noticed my insurance was inactive. I told them I recently switched jobs so that's probably why. The reception asked for an updated insurance card which I did not have on me. I was not told to bring in insurance when booking my appointment so I did not bring it with. They told me it would be $500 without insurance so I am running around trying to find my insurance info because I obviously don't want to pay $500 out of pocket. I asked if they could search me by name or social which they ended up doing. (They should have done this in the first place). They forced me to sign a document that said they would charge me $500 if I couldn't find my insurance info in order for me to sit in the chair. Once I sat down, the receptionist notified me that they did find my insurance but I was no longer in network so it's going to be $350... at this point I'm frustrated that I drove all the way downtown from Irvine, CA. I also was not going to pay $350 when I can go to a dentist that is in my network. This was just for a teeth cleaning. When I tried to leave they threaten to charge me $150 for last minute cancellation! If they had done their due diligence in checking my insurance when booking my appt, this situation wouldn't had happened. When booking a patient's appointment, any medical office double checks your insurance to make sure you're still in network especially if you haven't been there in a year. Every year people get new insurance cards. They tried to blame me and said I should've notified them when booking my appt that my insurance changed. I clearly didn't know it changed otherwise I wouldn't had drove an hour and a half. Either way it's the receptionists job to take all of that information for patients coming into their office. I had to argue back and forth with the manager for 5 mins before they let me leave without charging me $150. I'm NEVER coming back here again. The unprofessionalism is out of this world. I swear the office wasn't like this when I used to come in regularly. Also want to say half of these 5 star reviews are fake!!! They incentivize their patients to write good reviews and give them feee stuff.
