Moving to the midwest I've slowly developed some allergies and in time, they've become more and more bothersome. Recently, I developed an adult onset asthma which have been added to my list of life's wonderful inconveniences. After a talk with the PA at my PCP's office (my doctor was very busy when I started having a hard time breathing and had no openings for 3 weeks) but we came to a conclusion that I might benefit from a visit to an allergy specialist. She had 2 recommendations but Dr. Margolis is the closest one. I called the office a few days later and the person on the phone had informed me that their earliest opening wasn't going to be in another 8 days, however, since I wanted to do the allergy testing/consultation, it was decided that we should schedule 14 days after I stopped taking any allergy pills. The day I called was my last and in early September, I came in for my allergy testing. I had 50 on my back to which only a few showed some slight reaction so they tested 12 on my arm. They determined I have indoor and outdoor allergies, year-round and seasonal. Dr. Margolis did not push me to commit to immunotherapy. She gave me some informational pamphlets and asked to try 1 month with some suggested changes at home/my environment. She also prescribed a daily medication which I took for 1 week but ended up giving it up due to some side-effects. When I decided to start my immunotherapy, I felt I was better informed as to what I am getting myself into. She had provided some literature to take home so I can decide whether or not immunotherapy is right for me. I started only last week. She made sure to explain a lot of things about the therapy, how long each visit will take and gave me an estimate of when I might see some progress. She is very knowledgeable in her field and she has treated me really well since Day 1. Her office staff are very nice. They have always been kind, helpful and respectful. They made confirmations with my insurance regarding my coverage and asked me to re-verify before starting my treatment which was nice so I don't end up with a surprise bill. This is probably the least scary visit to a doctor's office for me and I don't mind having to be here once or twice a week for a year or so. There is a convenient 2-level parking garage attached to the building so you don't even have to worry if you didn't bring change with you! read more

I was a customer of Dr. Margolis for 4 years. I want to warn people of the terrible office she runs. She will not allow you to administer your serum at home. She talks about patient safety being the reason. After my screening I was told to come in every 4-10 days for three injections and then 30 minutes of waiting in the lobby to ensure I didn't have a bad reaction. She said it would be this way for 6 months and then it'd stretch to every two weeks, then after a time 3 weeks, etc. I ended up going every 4-10 for 9 months, sitting in their office around 45 minutes, and never once had, or witnessed anyone else have a reaction. I believe it's the $12 per injection she's charging my insurance, and not my safety, that is the basis for not allowing home administration. The reason I went for 9 months is because after the initial screening I was with an assistant from then on. Not once did Dr. Margolis poke in or check up or anything. Eventually I saw her coming out of her office she holed up in and asked if I should start coming every two weeks and she dismissively said "Yeah, lets do that". Fast forward 3 years and I'm still having to take Zyrtec and Allegra everyday and am still suffering from intense allergy symptoms. No real relief noticed. Once you're in the loop, you're just a credit card to her. I also often heard the ever rotating staff of nurses and administrators complain about her. I must have been pricked by 8 different staff over the 4 years, that's really telling in an office with 3 employees. Look elsewhere. read more

Had an appointment today with Dr. Margolis for allergy testing, and I thought she was great, as were the other members of her team. I was nervous due to the other review, but my nerves were unfounded. I got in EARLY - 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment. When does that ever happen? The nurse/receptionist was very jovial and friendly - big guy with a goatee. He made little jokes and conversation with me throughout the skin pricking business - which helped a lot. Dr. Margolis herself was nice and spent plenty of time with me. She even took time to plug in a space heater to make sure I was warm enough since I would only be wearing a gown during the testing. She also asked me about myself and made friendly conversation. Very nice personality. Overall, I am really glad my doctor referred me to Dr. Margolis. It's too bad the other person had a bad experience, but it may have just been an "off" day in the office. I had a great experience! read more

I had a Noon appointment today with Dr. Margolis as an initial allergy consultation. When I made the appointment I was less than happy with the tone of the receptionist, she was rude. I got off the phone and second-thought the appointment, but just wrote this off as someone having a bad day. I know that working with the public can be taxing, so I just looked forward to a good in-office experience. When I arrived at 11:45am this morning, as instructed, to fill out paperwork that good experience hope when down the toilet. When I arrived no one was at the desk so I signed in on the clipboard and sat down. I finally noticed one receptionist came back to answer a phone call and when the second lady came to the desk, I went to let her know I was there. She told me rudely "you can wait a minute" and by the time they gave me the new patient paperwork it was already Noon. The fact that I was on a tight schedule for this appointment, being that I was on my lunch break, I was a little antsy to get in front of the doctor and didn't appreciate the 15 minute waste of time. Finally calling my name, I paid my copay and listened to the 2 receptionists/nurses bicker about something - the one finally saying loudly that it was my fault for not telling anyone I was there. "You should have told us you were here." "I did..." then the other chimed in "I told here to wait!" Can you say unprofessional? One of them finally took me back to take height and weight then my blood pressure... she pushed up my sleeve saw my tattoo and make a shocked noise. Her asking me if I was "clearheaded" and the assessment that it looked like a "drunk tattoo" put me off completely. She went on to explain that her son used to do drugs and had pot tattoos. Hi! I'm dressed very nicely, put on my paperwork the name and address of my very big and influential local employer and have been nothing but pleasant to you. Just because I have a tattoo under the sleeve of my Ralph Lauren shirt does not mean I'm on drugs or do drugs. Thank. You. After the blood pressure taking, I was left to sit in an examination room that was boiling hot - the A/C wasn't working well in the office. And after waiting until 12:25pm, feeling insulted and hot to the point that my entire face was red, I left. I went to the front desk, fibbed to the offending receptionist/nurse that I had a work emergency and needed to leave. After getting my copay refunded I left that office with no intention of ever returning. I got dirty looks and questioning from the 2 rude ladies at the desk upon my leaving, which just sealed things in my mind that I was right to leave. No, I never got to actually see Dr. Margolis but if her office staff are that rude to patients then that has to be a reflection on the doctor, in my opinion. DO NOT GO TO DR. MARGOLIS! Healthcare costs are expensive and I refuse to pay money and be treated rudely when it comes to my health and wellness. read more

My experience with Dr. Margolis has been excellent. I switched from one of the city's leading allergists to Dr. Margolis after spending hours in the waiting room for almost every appointment. I am glad that I did. Dr. Margolis's care has been excellent. I have never had a problem with the staff (they have ALL been friendly and helpful). My husband (who also used to go to the other allergist I did) has changed to Dr. Margolis. He has received the same excellent care. read more

Absolutely the worst practice! I moved from St. Louis and needed my serum sent to my doc in Texas. There was one mistake after another (the Texas practice had issues as well). The issue was squared away but Dr. Margolis wouldn't deviate from her "Policy" of Monday shipments, knowing that, due to my daughters wedding, i would be put out of compliance. She. Does. Not. Care. I started coming here in March for allergy testing followed by subsequent shots and have always been pleased with my treatment here. Dr. Margolis and her staff have always been professional and polite since my first visit. The wait time is always minimal and I get my shots without any issues. I would gladly recommend that others see Dr. Margolis. read more

I've been getting allergy shots from CAC for 6 months and am very pleased with my experience. In my appointments with the doctor, she spent significantly longer with me than I am used to and was very knowledgeable and nice. I have gotten to know the office staff who administer the shots and look forward to talking to them every week. I have never had to wait more than 2 minutes for my shot, and usually am taken in immediately upon arrival. Highly recommend. read more
