I got the horchata latte it was very tasty! One of the girls guerita greeted us when we came in. However, some girl wearing pigtails took our order wannabe Chilindrina I don't know what was up with her but her attitude and demeanor was not it. She was very rude and dismissive. We saw her as we left and gave her a smile and she didn't even say thank you for coming see you next time nothing. I had heard of this place before, but hadn't seen it. My wife and I decided to give it a try. It's not very visible from the street, and you couldn't tell if it was open with the dark windows. As we walked in, it was like an open concept. Clean and inviting. As we approached the counter, there wasn't a huge variety of items. By no means, is it a traditional Mexican bakery, as I expected to see. We ordered a few things, some traditional Mexican and others I would call, modern Mexican. After tasting all the stuff we bought, it was disappointing. The appearance is inviting, but the flavor isn't there, especially the traditional looking pieces. We got the ginger bread pigs, orejas, apple turn over, guava taquito. They all lack in flavor and the apple turnover you can get at most grocery stores or big box stores with better flavor. If you're looking for a café experience with normal pastries, this might be the place for you. If you're looking for traditional Mexican bakery items, this isn't the place. This location isn't it. I was excited to hear that a second location was opening in Downey, but I was very disappointed with this location. I ordered a large abuelita latte with abuelita cold foam. The espresso shot was bitter, I could barely taste the abuelita chocolate, and the cold foam is straight up just regular chocolate. I order this drink all the time and the Norwalk location and the cold foam and latte always come with bits of abuelita chocolate because it can't be blended all the way. I also ordered a galletita and it just tastes like a sugar cookie. I think I'll stick to the Norwalk location from now on. read more

This place gets busy! Seems like they are still trying to figure out a system to be more efficient. The staff is friendly & very patient with customers. First you make line to order your pan. They have a variety of selections. They have croissants, stuffed croissants, concha's, cookies. All the bread we ordered was fresh. The times I have visited have been early in the morning. Once you order your bread they move you to the cashier where you can order your coffees. The cafe de olla is really good, not overly sweet. The mazapán latte is good as well. Wait time was good there was only 3 other people there. The horchata iced latte tasted nothing like horchata. It was almost the same quality and taste as a 7/11 caramel iced latte. I think the only thing that makes it "horchata" was they added cinnamon? 0/10 on that. The pumpkin spice cheesecake was a good consistency but very eh. I did however, order a large Cafe olla with sweet foam and since it was my first time I didn't realize until I got home they gave me a regular size. I checked my receipt and was indeed charged for a large. The person I got the drink for verified that they gave me the wrong size. I love this coffee. I will choose this place over the many coffee shops I have at my reach here in Downey. Its close to work and the service is amazing. I got so used to waiting for coffee at Starbucks for about 10-15min and when my coffee came out in 3min I was shocked. Mazapan latte on ice is my go to and it has the candy at the bottom for a treat. my coworkers always order from this place so i had to check it out. i came in right before 7am so there were little to no people inside. the decor is nice, very on brand, and they have all their pan dulce on display like a traditional panaderia. i was torn between the iced cafe de olla and the iced matcha horchata latte. i asked the cashier what she recommended and she said she liked the cafe de olla more, so i took my chances. i also ordered a churro coffee cake (bomb). my coffee came out quick and i tried it in my car. instantly disappointed. i so badly wanted to like it but the coffee was watery with the slightest hints of cinnamon and the "sweet" cold foam was not sweet at all. it had the potential to be great! the only way to save it was by drinking it beside by coffee cake, which some people may see as the point, but i like my coffee on its on 9 times out of 10. i will return and order something else. read more

Usually go to Tierra Mia, or cafe Monarca. So this place falls right into that category. Ordered the mazapán latte with oat milk, was not expecting chunks of peanuts in it. I will say it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, usually at Tierra Mia I ask for an extra shot of espresso, this place was ok on sweetness. The iced strawberry matcha tasted like strawberry milk, milk overpowered all the flavors, didn't even taste the matcha. Food wise..they don't have much of a vegetarian option, I was craving savory and I managed to find the cheese and jalapeño croissant, it probably would have been better if they warmed it up, too much crema and not enough jalapeño. My boyfriend got the birria empanada and I got the chorizo con papa empanada, they were hot, soft, flaky, and come with a side of pickled onions and chile, I enjoyed mine ! On the other hand, the birria empanada was very disappointing. It had no flavor and was actually just a chunk of shredded beef. No sauce, no spice, nothing. I also got the galletas marias latte and the flavor was good & subtle, had galleta marias crumbles at the bottom and a whole cookie on the top.
