I went to the one in Whittier and it was a small space and the workers were not even pleasant. A couple of young guys more interested in their conversation with each other.... Not the client. Came in on a weekend. It wasn't super crowded, but there was a steady flow of people coming in. We were greeted and helped immediately. Since this was our first time, we just picked out a few of our typical favorites. Our items were boxed up and we took them over to the seating area. The area was pretty clean, although some of the tables could have used a quick wipe down, there wasn't anything too noticeable. They play mariachi style music, which was a nice touch and added to the experience. We tried the items we purchased, and they were all great. My favorite was the concha, which was so light and not dry whatsoever. The parking in the lot was kinda not awesome, but there was plenty of street parking as well. Love this place. Matcha latte with straw foam is the best. I've been to the original in Norwalk and both locations are awesome. Great coffee infused in Mexican culture you can taste. The pan dulces are fresh and a must try. What's a little cafecito without some pan? Skip Starbucks and try this place. Walking in multiple women greeted me. Very clean and modernized. As I looked through a huge glass of common and unique pastries I asked what they suggested. I was hoping for something savory. They suggested ham and cheese or the empanadas. I don't eat mammals so they suggested the pollo empanada. Probably the best I've ever had. Honestly! The deal was croissant like crispy and soft at the same time. The filling did not even need hot sauce or any additional condiments because it was so good. The cost was cheap Considering I was in heaven! So why not 5 star? I felt there was way too little filling in the empanada. Almost like an empanada quesadilla because the filling was minimal/flat. Don't get me wrong. The flavor was bomb. Next , their salsa is not for me. I love hot and spicy but with flavor there's salsa, I was just burn your face off with no flavor. I recently read a community discussion about Mariachi Bakery. My friend messages me the next day about going since they open at 6am. We arrive as the doors opened and there's some pastries in the case. We are greeted by the owner who begins to recommend food and drink options. He sends out a cart of the rest of the freshly baked pastries just like your local panaderia. Think of all your favorites growing up created into amazing drinks and foods. There were so many options so I decide to try the Abuelita Cream Cold Brew and my friend had the Dulce De Leche Latte iced. She chose a variety of pastries and I ordered a Marzipan Concha and a slice of Horchata Tres Leche to take home for my son. My cold brew had an amazing flavor and the marzipan concha reminds me of childhood. As first customers we were unexpectedly sent over Chorizo and Birria empanadas. The puffed pastry was crisp and light, with so much flavor. I love how they were served with my friends favorite, pickled onions. The salsa is so good. There's also breakfast burritos and tortas. Have been twice this past week. Stopped in last Wednesday just looking for coffee. Wow. The options made it so hard to pick something but I settled on Mexican mocha and it was so delicious. Decided to grab some pan dulce cuz I was on a staycation and calories don't count right? I am kind of picky in regards to baked goods because I bake a lot and know what I like. These were fresh and delicious. I immediately regretted not getting the churro croissant but already planned another trip later to get it. As an additional treat I grabbed the horchata tres leches and had that later for dessert. It was simply amazing. We decided to go back two days later. I tried the horchata latte. Delicious. Their drinks are coffee forward without the bitter and on the sweet side without being too sweet. The churro croissant was divine. It has a superfine sugar dusting that doesn't make it too sweet. Visited this location on a Monday morning. Super nice employees who answered all our questions. We got tortas and empanadas. Tortas were tasty and empanadas were nice and flaky but really liked the salsa. Got an abuelita latte which was just ok then tried the cafe de olla which was perfect (could have been a little hotter). The perfect amount of sweetness. Our group also got the strawberry hibiscus drink which they liked. Of course had some pan dulce. My daughter got the mazapán concha which she did not like but really liked the churro muffin. So that was not good in my opinion as this likely taste much better warmed. The latte is also okay. The coffee taste is amazing but I'm not sure how I feel about crushed mazapan on the bottom of my coffee. I feel like I am eating leftover particles of food so I gagged as I took my first drink bc I had no idea it wasn't a flavor or syrup. The horchata tres leches was also amazing. Unfortunately we had made a trip on Saturday morning to which the ladies behind the counter didn't even acknowledge us until what i'm assuming the boss came out. I was very excited to see a Mariachi Bakery open up closer to my home. I order a few items and I hate to say I was a little disappointed. The Tres leches cream cold brew and the Mazapàn cream cold brew didn't really taste like the flavors they were suppose to. The only thing the Mazapàn had different were the chuncks of Mazapàn on the bottom. The hickory smoked ham torta was more like a breakfast sandwich than a breakfast torta I've had in the past in my opinion, it was very small. The burrito was very good but again pretty small. The establishment was pretty big but I did notice a table was dirty and I didn't see anyone sitting there while I waited. The service was good the only thing that bothered me was when they called my number they had my drinks and a bag and when I went to grab the bag they said that wasn't my order then they called a different order number after. We've been to this new location a few times since they opened and tried a handful of their items. So far we have enjoyed everything we've tried. Some of our favorite food items are the birria empanadas, ham and cheese croissants and the chile relleno breakfast torta. As for the drinks the horchata cold brew is delicious. Please save your money Every time I come here the customer service absolutely sucks. I've been coming to here for over a decade. They always seem to have a young lady working at the bar with a horrible attitude. I stopped coming for nearly a few months because I just didn't want to deal with it. I recently started coming back, and it's the same thing just a different day. I've mentioned this to the manger so many times. I understand that the community you're serving may be challenging to deal with sometimes, but not everybody is the same. The person working the window is the first line of defense. I've been to the Downey location and loved everything so my expectations were high coming to this location as it's 5 Mins away from me now. I went on a breakfast snack run for my momma and my aunt, I had been raving. The location used to be a taco spot but I'm glad they kept the layout of the separate dining area. The aesthetic is very moderna Latina and has the papel picado logo on the wall, all of the famous stars of their heyday framed and cemented in our culture. The cashiers are all so friendly and welcoming. My order: Iced cafe de olla with vanilla foam, 1 hot cafe de olla - classic flavors and I love the vanilla foam with the iced, it balances well but it doesn't need creamer it's that good. Horchata matcha- surprising!! I love a strawberry matcha but have been trying different variations of it and this was sooo good. I thought cinnamon and matcha wouldn't go well but mariachi got it right. Chorizo con papa empanada - 12/10 I might go back before they close. Rajas con queso empanada - delish but the chorizo won this round. Chile relleno torta - my aunt had this but it looked good. Portion was huge, she saved half. Assorted pan dulce- puerquito was top tier. Soft and fresh and just perfect with a cafe de olla. I did notice that they added a pork adobo empanada flavor that I don't try but it does make me a little sad that the chicharron in chile verde empanada isn't at this location. I hope it migrates this way and isn't a Downey exclusive. Either way, I'm so happy we have this bakery in my new hood. read more

First off customer service was not the best, I will say there was one girl that had a sticker on her cheek that was acting like she didn't want to be there and was not very attentive. She alone brought down the atmosphere as she was the cashier. The other girls working at least looked a bit happier and were more attentive. I noticed that they do not sanitize their milk frother's, they just tossed it into a metal container and kept re-using them as they made orders. Which is unsanitary, the residue will start to grow bacteria, will give a pungent taste and get people sick. I ordered an iced cafe de olla and a abuelita frappe, the drinks were good, just a little on the sweet side. For food I got some pan dulce, a huevo con chorizo burrito and an empanada de tinga. The burrito was good however the empanada was disappointing as the chicken was very over cooked, the flavor was good but it was just kinda soggy. The empanada didn't have a lot of chicken in it either. Overall I would say I'd only come for the coffee but I wouldn't get foam unless I see a change and they start sanitizing the equipment properly.
