Mariachi Loco does a nice job. Service good and fast, portions decent. I had the Burrito and enchiladas and my wife had the enchiladas and Tostada. Also had the cheese dip as a appetizer. My only complaint is the lack of bold or unique flavor. Cheese dip and salsa seemed like it was just poured out of a jar. Everything sorta just tasted the same. Would I go back? Our waitress was very friendly and showed us right to our table. She started us off with chips and salsa while we perused the menu. We ordered a chicken chimichonga and flautas. One thing I REALLY appreciated was that they had a kids meals that had a menu even a picky eater can tolerate. (So we also ordered chicken nuggets.) Honestly, our food came out so quickly and was delicious. I realized that flautas were basically mini chimichongas and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The chimichonga was a good size, so I was able to take half of it home for the next day. We will stop in again! read more

Don't get the vegatarian. Tastes like they just thawed a pack of frozen mixed vegetables and threw some paprika on and called it good.... No salt... No pepper, just watered down vegatables. The mushrooms are barely cooked, it was just overall very unpleasant. Then on top of that the beans just tasted like they drained a can of pinto beans and placed it on a plate. The rice was by far the best part and the only thing worth eating, which is sad because it is a minor part of the meal. I'd rather pay someone $10.25 to go to the grocery store and buy a pack of frozen vegetables and a can of beans so I could cook it myself. read more

Stopped in for lunch in the late afternoon. It seems like a basic Mexican place but did have some nice peppery aromas when walking in. The food was pretty good. It was a lunch serving, but still generous. The salsa is thin but has chunks of fresh tomatoes and cilantro-- which I enjoyed! I would return and try other items! This is by far my favorite place to eat lunch in River Falls. They have blazing fast service, and very good Mexican food. They are so fast sometimes we have told them to give us some time to work on the chips and salsa. I personally think this is a good thing. I get very upset at places that try to draw out your meal and make things take forever! Mariachi Loco is not fancy so don't expect too much. It was fine. It was definitely bland. It had good elements like the Shredded beef and the chicken but the taco shell was thick for a corn tortilla. It also had iceberg lettuce and cheddar cheese not my favorite. It was as if they had potential for more authentic Mexican tastes but have tailored it for a midwestern college town. I went to college in River Falls and I dream about this place. I have not been in years and I was secretly hoping it was gross now so I could stop craving the mole enchiladas. No luck it was still as good as always. This place is not fancy they serve standard Mexican options but the sauces they serve are what set them above the rest. I always loved the verde, cremosa and mole sauces. Nothing as changed I still do. If you happen by this tiny little college town you have to and need to stop in. Consistent and authentic Mexican cuisine for Wisconsinites! There are three things I cannot go without when stopping at Mariachi Loco: 1) The queso dip and chips, which are served with homemade salsa! 2) The deep-fried ice cream, which is absolutely BOMB and 100% a MUST try! Finally, 3) the mole sauce on anything containing chicken. I always get a chimichanga with pulled chicken and swap out the usual red sauce for the mole. If you've never had mole sauce it's a dark brown mixture of TONS of spices and has a sweetness unlike any other. Please do yourself a favor and TRY THIS! Obviously, I'm a big fan but it's really because I have never been disappointed by this place. You can even get it to-go! read more

The food is just okay. It was very bland. The mango margaritas are good. The service is horrible. I went for lunch with my sister and 2 friends. We ordered 3 mango alcoholic beverages and 1 mango virgin beverage. The waitress served my underage sister an alcoholic beverage instead of the virgin one. The virgin one was given to my friend instead. I complained about this to the waitress. They don't have a good system to separate alcoholic drinks from virgin ones. The waitress told us that the drink with more whipped cream is virgin and the drinks with less whip cream are alcoholic. That's not a full proof system because whip cream can sink into the drink. I asked to talk to the manager about this situation. The manager acted like it wasn't a big deal. She offered to comp the drink. I told her this isn't about money. It's about the fact that the waitress served alcohol to someone who is underage. My sister had to drive home after lunch and if she had gotten pulled over by a cop she could have lost her license. My favorite restaurant in River Falls. The food is cheap, and delicious. I've had at least half the menu, and still have not encountered a bad dish. The restaurant is small, so there is a wait sometimes, usually no more than ten minutes. The service is exceptional. Fast, friendly, and always prompt. I've eaten here about 4+ times now and should share some thoughts. Yes, the space is a bit small, especially on a busy night when all the tables and booths seem to be filled. The kitchen puts out a lot of steam and heat (smoke and sizzle?), so watch out if it's muggy outdoors and you are an asthma, heart or other type of patient because it might be a little difficult to breathe if you are too close to the cooking. They do have fans set up around if I recall correctly. Don't get me wrong, it smells delicious! And you can tell the food is REALLY being cooked, not microwaved like I've heard some other restaurants ~may~ do. The building was previously a fast food restaurant with a drive through (not currently open) when I was much younger. Customer turnover is much faster with fast food, but this is now a sit-down and order your food restaurant. No pearls or diamonds required. T-shirts are fine. The drinks are flavorful and you might not want to share with someone at your table because you'll want it all for yourself (explanation: wasn't going to drink anything with alcohol BUT it tasted sooooo good at that moment, I got selfish). Maybe later, when I find my photos I'll remember what we ordered but each time we kind of try something else. Our food has always been delivered in a very timely manner, hot or very hot (temperature) and plenty, enough that we could have shared but when a hungry teenage boy is with you (which has been each time I've been here) it is not easy to have anything left over to bring home. ~Someone~ is alway willing to help me clean my plate. Next time I'll mention the chips and salsa.... or at least the green, spicer salsa. FYI: people who are accustomed to spice heat will be able to handle this, no problem. Teens who think they can handle the heat may find out otherwise. Make sure you have something near to help with the after effects. Oh, and extra napkins for the sweating and tearing eyes. Oh, and, yes, we will go here again in the future. I just saw some other Yelp reviews and just to let you know, we weren't looking for "authentic" Mexican food, although, the people (I did NOT poll them. My son would have died!!) working here most likely are of some Hispanic ethnicity. So, to this white bread (bred), Northern WI grown girl, Mariachi Loco was more Mexican culture than I grew up with. For the record, one of my bro-in-laws from Honduras and one sis-in-law is from India so I guess I do have ~some~ exposure to the outside world. If you want solid food and feel that you got your money's worth, I would recommend this restaurant. read more

OOOH Mariachi Loco how i love thee!! If you have been studying your butt of in the chalmer library and decide your brain needs a break or its going to give you a stroke... or if you just want an excuse not to study...the best thing to do is grab a couple friends and head across the street to Mariachi! Nothing is better than being a broke college kid and being able to afford to go out to eat! Thats the beauty of Mariachi. You get huge good tasting servings for cheap (and when I say cheap I mean you can barely afford conditioner and toothpaste but you don't want ramon so you decide to spend that money on food) Personally I enjoy the stuffed chicken burrito with rice...mmmm delicious! its like 6-7 bucks and easily feeds me for two meals. The service is wonderful... both the servers and owner are very attentive. You feel like a valued customer every time you go in. Although it is smaller on the inside it gives it a nice cozy feel. Now on to the most important part of mariachi...the reason it has stolen my heart....the margaritas!!!! seriously the best! I have no hesitation when saying that I am a margarita connesiour. Jose cuervo IS a friend of mine...and when he is mixed in with mariachi's delicious mix ... there is no way he can do you wrong. Unless of course you have a class within the next hour cuz those margaritas are strong...and are gonna knock you on your butt! but thats why they are delicious. Only about 4.50 for a nice sized strong delicious margarita... you definitely cant complain! So if you are looking for a distraction from studies, a good place to hang out enjoy friends, food and drinks...make mariachi your next stop when you are in River. TRUST ME YOU WILL LOVE IT! read more
