This is a follow up review to my first posted years ago. I travel to Hudson frequently for work, Azul tequila was my go to for years but over the last two years it has declined significantly with my last visit being really bad. I usually order the Vallarta fajitas, this last time they were horrible. My meat and veggies we cut horribly, the pepper and onions in the dish appeared to be the discards in the kitchen, it was all bottoms of the peppers and thick onions. The meat was large uncut chucks that were overcooked dog food and the tortillas were stale and hard. They didn't even give me a plate to assemble, I had to request it. This place used to be soo good, I would love coming here. It's sad how bad it has gotten. I'm not sure I will go back. I need a recommendation on where to go in Hudson now. read more

Azul Tequila definitely didn't leave me blue. A bit tipsy, but not at all blue. I'm currently writing this review while under the influence of a huge Dos XX, so bear with me. My Hudson family and I decided to eat out this evening. We were going to grill, but a huge storm is bearing down and the wind was howling. Me being from Southern California makes me intrigued with these weather anomalies. I get to experience what I have only seen on the news (when I was watching the news). So it's exciting to me. My only worry is my windshield getting busted by golf ball size hail. It cost me a thousand bucks the last time I had to replace it. I've been to Azul on a number of occasions. This is the first time though since I've been on the Yelp soapbox. So this review will be an amalgam of my previous visits. Every visit to Azul has been a fantastic experience. Almost immediately when seated chips and salsa make their appearance on the table. Drinks arrive shortly thereafter. I haven't had a bad, or anything close to being a subpar meal at this restaurant. The standard Mexican fare is American authentic and fresh. American authentic; noun, adjective Mexican food tailored to American taste. "The silly gringo thinks our food is authentic Mexican food. He asked if it was American authentic. I told him si so he'd give me a good tip". Decent prices, good food, and cold beer. What more could an authentic American ask for. Quick Tip: I'm warning you, be careful if you order a large beer. It's large. Grande to be more exact. You'll feel it's effects for quite some time. You're reading the effect it had on me. By now you should be asking yourself, why am I still reading this? Go get something to eat. read more

Whenever we're in Hudson, my family and I eat at Azul. I had only had their food takeout before but yesterday we ate at the restaurant, which is spacious and with lots of seating, including a bar area. I've tried the fish tacos and the Chile rellenos, both of which are great! My boyfriend gets the seafood enchiladas and they too are really good. My daughter had the rib eye steak and she loved it! read more

The food is okay - a solid 3 stars. Most of the food was nothing special. Our entrees were both a bit lame and boring. Our appetizers and desserts were decent though. This is the kind of average Mexican fare I can find all over the place at local chains in the Twin Cities like Acapulco and El Azteca. Then again, the food was very inexpensive. So I guess I can't bitch much considering that most of the prices are super reasonable. The price for my Burrito Casa lunch meal was less than a #1 Big Mac Meal at McDonald's. There were a few standouts. The customer service was excellent. It wasn't fake customer service either. Everyone was 100% on top of their game, friendly, and attentive. My jalapeno margarita was excellent! It isn't for the faint of heart. I could taste plenty of alcohol too. I'm happy they didn't cheap out on my drink and it was nice & strong. Ooooooo E! Ate here two weeks ago with two buddies off of one's recommendation and I could not believe how tasty everything was. We started off with the nachos and the nachos they make here are easily the best I've had..so much flavor and so many different notes of deliciousness within each bite..one of the tastiest menu items I've had all year. I ordered the Jalisco Burrito, and it was really good. Despite filling up on chips and salsa, and many nachos, I was able to eat the sizably delicious burrito because it was so good. Didn't end up eating for the rest of the day, (a rarity) so the food was very filling. The other two diners had the chimichanga two different ways and both really liked them. They also had Modelo on tap, and it was so fresh and refreshing after a day in the sun. Extremely flavorful food, really quick service, and really friendly staff all around. Goin to have to downgrade my first review of this place. Since my first visit, I've noticed the kitchen is quite inconsistent on how well the food is prepared each visit. The Queso blanco dip was flavorless and the shrimp enchiladas con papas that were so divine now were terrible. Overdone shrimp, lumpy potatoes, and I found stems in my bell peppers. I had to give my meal to my dog. On the other hand, the corn tamales my husband had last time were horribly thick in corn meal and were done perfectly this time. If this restaurant wants to last, they better get it together and keep to standards in the kitchen! read more

We have always had great service at Azul Tequila. There are some misses on the menu, but there are many very good meals that we enjoyed. The shrimp cocktail and bacon wrapped shrimp are 2 of my favorites. The one thing that I wish they did better is the fajita beef. It seems like chopped up sirloin in little pieces. Real fajita should be nice chunks of flank steak and seasoned well. The carnitas for a meat option is the better way to go. read more

If we were to personify "meh" as a Mexican restaurant, it would be Azul Tequila. I came with a friend, he ordered a quesadilla, and I ordered nachos. The nachos were seriously underwhelming to say the least. It was chips with beans and cheese on top. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but a little salsa? Guacamole? Sour Cream? We had a great experience here. Food was amazing, our waiter was awesome. He was very polite, checked on us regularly and was generally a pleasant person which seems to be rare these days. Complimentary Chips and salsa was delicious. Oh and they even packed chips, salsa and cheese in my daughter's to go order, so refreshing to get good service. Above average stock Mexican restaurant. I have been here three times since moving to the area, and have had the mole enchiladas every time. Subtle flavor, that anyone who enjoys a good mole would enjoy. I won't lie and say the food is the absolute best in Hudson, but it is consistent and delicious. The place where Azul really shines is their service. Whether you show up at lunch time or 30 minutes before closing, you will still receive the same speedy, friendly wait staff. I don't usually hand out 5 star reviews unless I am completely blown away, but this place is certainly better than 3.5. Give it a try! read more

3 stars is a perfect average rating for this establishment. It's been passed along to me that former ownership cared more about customer service and quality. As it is, we ordered a large carry out for 3 adults and 6 kids on New Years Day. The menu is amazing. The service and follow through on food quality is meh (as another reviewer said). The attitude of front of house - on the phone and in person - is awful. A glaring issue. I can recommend the Zarape and enchiladas. Don't know about the veggie chimichanga because while we ordered that, we brought home something else entirely. Also my flour tortillas were disappeared between ordering and pick up. Kids were split on their meals 50/50 good vs. bad. A little extra care and detail would go a long way for Azul. read more

So I want to start off by saying, the food was great. They also offer a FREE tequila shot to anyone who requested it on a Saturday! However, execution of a proper dinner service was bar none. We started with a table of 11.. after about 60 minutes they offered to split us between 2 booths to get seated. Which we were happy to do so, since we were such a large group on a busy night. At this point we were a table of 6 with a small child. Service was slow, but not horrible given the business of the restaraunt. All of us ordered our entree at the same and we continued on. 30 minutes later 3 meals were served. About 10 minutes later 2 more meals were served. 10 more minutes later (still waiting on 2 meals) I went to talk to a manager. 3 of 7 meals were cold and still 2 were not served. The hostesses that I spoke to apologized and quickly found the manager. He did seem bit irritated.... at first... and then apologized and offered our food for free. Not what was expected, at all, but were thankful he listened and cared. We finished our meals and then waited for our drink bills. We waited, and waited, and waited. No one ever came back. I again went to the hostess station and before they could take action another member I was with retrieved the manager as he walked by. He comped our entire bill. Wow, very, nice. We are a big family. We expected to wait. We expected to spend a lot. We also are not picky on service. But you do NOT serve part of a table at a time. You go as a family to have a meal as family. This is true for any group, big or small, that goes to have a meal. If you cannot have a meal together there is no reason to go. I have to give a shout out to the hostesses . The smallest paid employee at this restaurant proved that they aren't just looking at it as a job. They actually cared. They had the best customer service and understanding out of everyone. I would never tell anyone not to go, because truthfully... we ended up with a meal and we were together as a family in a nice enviroment. I appreciate what the restaraunt did to make a bad situation better... but we come to eat as a family, bottom line. I hope they took our experience and learned from it. Every time, the food has been bland and uninspiring....think ground beef wrapped up in a tortilla with a little sauce.
