My 2 colleagues and I are here after a long business day and a local's recommendation. This was a decent Mexican restaurant in a sea of TexMex. A $5.95 house margarita cued the unwinding, but it wasn't strong enough for this NOLA girl. The salsa was basic, but fresh, with super yummy chips. If you have a problem regulating your chips and salsa consumption, this may be a tough spot. They refill both in mass! We skipped appetizers which was a great idea (see previous statement). The main course of Mariachi's Fajitas was in huge portions. The steak was 5 star, but the chicken and shrimp were way too dry. Okaying food. I had chicken quesadillas and queso with my chips. The queso was delivered before the chips and salsa. And I never got a refill of the chips when the tables around me did. The queso was not very warm. I had a dr. Pepper and was offered no refill until I got my check. Poor service and the food was okay. I won't be back. I'd rather go to La Mesa. The server was AWFUL!! The floor manager tried to make it better and that's the only reason I'm even giving 2 stars. The server got almost our entire order wrong and then blamed it on cooks. Then kept trying to have random conversations with us about how they were trying to quit smoking. We won't ever come back. read more

My daughter just came home very upset with this restaurant. She was mtg a friend for dinner but no one ever came to seat them, even though the owner saw her standing in line. On 8/31/21, I ordered fajitas P for two and queso from Mariachis. A couple of hours after eating I went to bed for the evening and woke up approximately 30 minutes later with severe stomach cramps. I was sweating , dizzy, and nauseated . I began throwing up with horrible dry heaving after my stomach was empty. My daughter who also ate was also very nauseated. The next day I contacted the restaurant and spoke to a manager by the name of John. His response was, " well a couple of hours is way too early for food poisoning ". Stopped in while on an outing in North Texas. My Bro said he'd been here before and the food was good. He was wrong! The food was fabulous! The Chips were thin and crisp, and the Salsa was very good. The wait staff did a very good job checking on us. I ordered the Chicken enchiladas from the lunch menu and the Borracho beans. The plates came out hot and very well put together. The beans were excellent! The enchiladas were very plump moist and had the BEST sour cream sauce I've had in a few years. The rice was rice. I will be sure to visit again when I am in the area! UPDATE: Have been here a few times with the family and although I haven't ordered the fajitas again or really looked into whether the beans and rice are vegan friendly, I have had chips & salsa and made my own guacamole tacos. Just order guacamole (which is just a small portion of mashed avocado here, boo!) and get some corn tortillas. You can order lettuce or whatever other veggies you wanna add to your Build-Your-Own-Tacos and of course some salsa to finish it off. Pretty good for out for drinks with family and/or friends. Next time I will ask if there is lard or animal stock in the beans and rice. read more

I'm really picky when it comes to Tex mex but I've been here twice and they didn't disappoint! First time I had a six person take out order they got done with in 20 mins and perfectly executed no mixups. Then I went inside to see it super clean and super friendly! My food both times was awesome! My only small complaint is their menus are a little confusing with some pretty specific items so read carefully! Also way to go on your salsa!!! My husband and I went there the other day because we had heard great things about mariachi's but the food was awful the dish that he ordered looked distasteful the chicken was dry and my chicken enchiladas tasted like fish I spit my food out and left to go to Olive Garden. I like what I get pretty much every time we go here. I get the beef alambres. Which is basically chopped up fajita meat, sautéed poblano peppers and onions, and melted cheese all mixed up together. It's delicious. There's only been one time where they completely jipped me on the amount of beef they put in the dish but I wrote it off as an off day for them. I also really like their fajitas too. Chicken or beef are great and they have fajitas for two! I'm not a fan of their enchiladas though but my mom seems to like them so it's probably just me. The kids fried fish plate comes with a huge filet of fried catfish/tilapia (can't really tell) but my little guy absolutely devours it every time we go here. read more

This is our first time here and we have officially found our new regular date night location. The food is out of this world good. The seating could use an update as some of the booths are worn out and torn, but atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Mariachi's was temporarily closed during COVID shutdown. Glad to see it reopened as it has become a favorite for us. We ordered take out for dinner, not quite ready to visit restaurants indoor yet. Combo fajitas were generous and excellent as always, but my personal favorite are the bacon and jalapeño wrapped shrimps on the appetizer menu. The surprise here is that it always comes as a complete meal, with rice, fries, and chicken stuffed jalapeños as a bonus. Chips and salsa are excellent too. Mariachi's is probably our favorite Mexican place in Sherman. My hubby loves the beef enchiladas or Mexican Taco Platter which is really like street tacos and charro beans. I like the Mexican tacos also but usually can't eat the three that come on the platter meal with beans and rice, so get them ala carte with a small bowl of charro beans.
