Feedback is always overwhelmingly positive. (I specifically heard that the carrot cake was to die for!) Everything always looks & smells delicious. I have bought a bunch of pies for my family holiday celebrations- Which is pretty high stakes because we have a professional, Michelin star NYC pastry chef in the family. The staff is always friendly. I've been there during busy times and also when it's early and quiet. The service is always great! My gosh, small bakeries are so amazing. The planning and execution required to create a full range of baked goods every morning is mind boggling. Harvest Bakery is just one of those mind boggling places. The range of items they have in the display cases is incredible. From standard bakery go-to items like fresh bread and apple fritters, to French crullers and specialty coffee cakes - this place is impressive. My mother is a French crullers fanatic. She loves them. Being that we live on the west coast, where crullers (as she tells me) are not "true French crullers " - every time we are on the east coast, a crullers run is a must. Harvest Bakeries ticks all the boxes - 4 different crullers (plain, glazed, powdered sugar and cinnamon), super friendly staff, early morning coffee and a convenient location. I have been a fan for years ... until recently. Two visits in the last month... treating my friends. Cupcakes were dry and really past their shelf life .... For $3.00 a cupcake, I'd expect fresh and delicious. Price increases are inevitable but serving substandard, unacceptable. Walked in this weekend with beautifully decorated store for the holidays. Displaying butter cookies with fall sprinkles did not fit in... if you've got 9.25 for cookies made in November, you might want to donate or 50% off sale. Harvest Bakery is a beloved Bristol Donut shop that also sells rolls, breads, desserts, etc. My friend and co-worker Amy first introduced me to the famous Harvest "Custard" donuts, that are similar to Boston creams, when she generously brought a box to work two years ago. The icing is thicker and more milk chocolaty than the standard Boston cream icing. The custard is thicker and more substantial than most standard Boston creams. The dough is always fresh. This morning, we got some of these delicious custards, a glazed cruller and an apple cider cinnamon to share. The elongated glazed cruller has great texture and flavor. Quality-wise, it was pretty close to my favorite similar donut in CT. The apple cider was good, but not quite as soft and light tasting as similar donuts I've loved in CT. 4.5 Stars for Harvest, with a round up to 5 Stars read more

Stopped at Harvest Bakery on the way to my daughter's dance competition. We were running late but when I got inside I was struck by an intense case of paradox of choice. Case after case of magnificent carbs. I stood indecisively until a line formed. Thankfully I grabbed a number and was waited on pretty quickly. The gentleman was nice and I selected a mini rye bread ($1.95 for a nice amount), raspberry filled donut (it had a cooler ethnic name that I can't exactly recall), a custard donut, and a shamrock shaped cookie for my daughter. The rye bread made for a delicious breakfast as is, no butter or anything. The custard donut really took breakfast to new heights. Perfectly fresh donut just oozing with real quality custard and topped with chocolate frosting, one of the top donuts I've had. I practiced patience and reserved the raspberry filled donut for the ride home. It ended up being another one of the best donuts I've ever had. Sweet raspberry filling in a glazed donut. Absolutely outstanding! Just wrapped up the day's eating by trying the shamrock cookie and it's also delicious. Perfect sugar cookie. 1.15.21 Let's start with their business hours aren't updated. I was here a couple hours earlier today. It currently 4:45 and I just called them and they already closed at 3:00. Yelps hours show closing at 5:00 Let's go to the middle with this. When I was here earlier their social distancing isn't being enforced. They do have a sign on the door of no more than four customers in at a time but the other two people in here were all within 3 feet of me and I kept walking away to stay away from these people. And let's go to the end with this. I bought a rye bread and had it sliced. The guy who took care of us was very sweet & kind and hospitable but that's where it ended with him. And yes all of the employees have on their masks. The guy opened the plastic bag in order to place the sliced loaf inside, but what ended it for me is he placed both of his bare (ungloved) hands into the inside of the bag in order to keep the bag open and ready for him after he had it sliced. What's funny, is when he grabbed the loaf of bread to place it into the bag he did use the sheets of the wax paper on each side of the bread he was handling so that he didn't touch it with his bare hands. But again, he placed his bare hands into the inside of the plastic bag to keep it open to put the loaf of bread inside that plastic bag. I was so skeeved out and disgusted by what I was seeing and witnessing right in front of me. Especially in the times we're in with this pandemic. Totally disgusting. Totally unacceptable. Absolutely positively unacceptable. Totally unprofessional behavior and disregard for fellowhuman beings. And/or total lack of training from the owners and/or manager. This was nasty. We bought a loaf of sliced rye bread and a few sweets for later. No issues at all with the handling of the sweets. He did use the was paper to grab them and he did not place his hand into that paper bag. read more

I found this bakery through Yelp. My go to for cakes was on vacation for 12 days during my sons January birthday. I chose this bakery because it was highly rated by following the helpers. Boy, did it not disappoint! I called ahead and they took my order and the cake was very reasonable, I must say! The location is easy to find and very clean. The smell inside is intoxicating. A quaint place that has a lot of good pastry options to choose from. It is quite small on the inside, but they have two people working behind the counter to help, so service didn't feel diminished as a result. Since it was my first time here, the workers were nice enough to let me look around for a bit - but I also came in at a less busy time, so that could have impacted it. I got a couple cream puffs, a Boston crème, and a lemon doughnut, all incredibly rich and fresh! The best part is that for the quality and size of the goods, the price was surprisingly reasonable! In these uncertain times, walking into Harvest Bakery today gave me that feeling of warmth and community that I always get from my neighborhood baker. The team was in great spirits, which is super refreshing to see. They have a 4-at-a-time policy, so there's efforts to socially distance. It's a good amount of space. It was nice to see they had their usual stock of pastries and bread available. I also really liked how I wasn't pressured to move too fast and was treated as courteously as I would have in the 'before times'. After mulling over my options, I 'settled' on a 6 pack of donuts. I would've bought the bakery if I could! The chocolate frosted with sprinkles donuts were by far the best of the bunch. The dough was so soft and airy on the inside, and was golden and had that perfect crisp pop when I bit into it. Perfectly cooked, frosted, and sprinkled. Perfection. The Boston cream was different than I remember Boston cream tasting. I was expecting a yellow, creamy, custardy pudding filling. What I got was a thick-as-frosting, pure white, super sweet Twinkie or Moon Pie style marshmallowy filling. To be fair, they did have a custard filled donut for sale right next to it, but I went for the Boston cream, assuming they had the same type of filling. It's good if you like that kind of sweet, but it was ultra overwhelming for me- so much so I scraped the filling out of my donut to finish it. In summary, if you need bakery items, skip the long lines at the supermarket and head here. The prices are in line with the supermarket ($5.75 for 6 donuts) but you get individual, speedy service from people who are so happy and helpful. It's a treat for taste and smell and a bit of nostalgia. I recall standing in line with my ticket almost 60 years ago waiting for Kaiser rolls and rye bread at Harvest Bakery. Sometimes you had to be patient, as the bread might still be too warm to slice. (Yes, it was that fresh!) There were always other tasty offerings - cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, coffee cake, gooey confections to keep you salivating while waiting for your number to be called. And even though it's new ownership from let's say 20 years ago it's still very similar and very consistent. I wouldn't know they changed owners. Always very fresh.
