Chiccaron quesadilla con calabaza y queso
Jennifer A.

A friend of mine recommended this place since she knows I love Mexican food (especially chicharrones). It is not just a bakery, people!! And they make their own tortillas!! That which are quite tasty. I ordered a chicharron quesadilla con calabaza y queso. In other words, a quesadilla with fried pork skins, squash, and cheese. I wanted squash flowers but they put the squash instead. I think because the flowers aren't in season? I couldn't ask them since I got home and only realized this when I started to eat. The meat that comes with it is pork which was a little over cooked but palatable. They could have added more cheese but I will just ask for that next time. A nice touch was the grilled jalapeño! It was muy bueno!! Never had one before, so glad they added it. The red sauce provided was SO GOOD. Not really as spicy as I would have expected.. but such a great flavor. The price was just under $17 which seems a little steep but the plate weighed like 2lbs. I would pay that again in a heartbeat. I wanted to try their churros (6 for $5) but they did not have any. They told me to come for those on the weekend. Looks like I will be going back there this weekend!! All in all, it was a good dish and the staff was friendly. I will be visiting again to try other things.

Tres Leches cake with strawberries for 20 people- $45
Lauren D.

Wonderful tres leches cake and on very short notice! I ordered a tres leches cake for 20 people at 6pm on Friday night and they had it ready for me the next day at 4pm. The cake was huge and exactly what we wanted. The other pastries looked great and it smelled delicious inside. I would definitely use them again.

I asked for submarine style bread or baguettes and they were still prepping them for the oven. However they did see me some ciabatta loaves. These loaves are perfect. They have the best crust and a nice dense and chewy interior. I just had one with some soup and some goat cheese and Muenster cheese. It just goes nice with everything. I am very pleased with the service because even though the employee who assisted me was clearly baking beforehand, he did not rush or shoo me away. He was very friendly. I am a fan and I hope more folks check this bakery out. When I went it seemed they were only making breads. Not sure if they do other baked goods.

Picked it up at the time they told me I could and I was in and out in under a minute. The cake was ADORABLE but horribly dry and crumbly. The buttercream frosting was ok but not super buttery. It was cute but no one finished their slice and we ended up throwing almost the whole cake out. Maybe it was an off day but didn't feel like it was worth the $60.00 we paid.

My first experience with Alyssa's Cakery in Wallingford was for my baby shower cake, and it was fantastic. Searching for cake options in the greater Hamden area, Alyssa's not only emerged as one of the most affordable but also the best in terms of customer service. They were incredibly easy to work with and completely captured my vision for a naked cake. The cake was not only beautiful but also delicious, and it was ready right on time. It's hard to ask for more when it comes to preparing for a special event. Alyssa's Cakery's combination of quality, value, and customer service makes it a top choice for anyone in need of a special occasion cake. I will definitely be returning next time I'm in the area!

Upon walking in, we were greeted by the overwhelming range of pastries, cookies, cakes and other italian desserts. It was impressive. We decided on a variety of desserts that could be sampled for that evening. The Lemon Cheesecake slices were a must and we got two. We tried two of their Cream Horns, one topped with semi-sweet chocolate chips and the other, milk chocolate chips. We got a standard Cookies & Cream Cake slice that had chocolate cake with a cookies and cream frosting. Our last slice was a ricotta and chocolate cream cake, the texture was like pudding! We really enjoyed all the treats. The lemon cheesecake was my favorite; tangy, rich, smooth and buttery crust. The young lady that served us was helpful, but we felt the vibe that she was a little annoyed. Firstly, none of the items in the pastry cases had display labels. It was a lot of pointing and asking what was what. Secondly, I have a few food allergies. She said she would let us know. We were picking pastries and cakes solely from their looks or what we thought they were. I think it would be more efficient if the items were clearly marked, especially with the large variety Mozzicato's has. I think we would stop in at Mozzicato's again. The bakery is large with seating inside and outside to have a treat and a cup of coffee. The price for 6 pasties/slices was pleasantly surprising and not too expensive.

I attached it below, but the cannoli was hollow on the inside too. Was going to sit down and enjoy things, but felt more like I was bothering the staff by being here, so I left. I have been looking for a good Italian bakery as I'm new to the area, but was sad to come across this place...was not very 'Italian bakery-ish' hah. Can't recommend.
