I had a hard time choosing, so naturally... I tried three flavors. I started with the coconut, which had little flakes of coconut on top. The coconut flavor was fresh and not overly sweet, and the texture was really creamy. Next was the torrone, and this one surprised me. The pieces of torrone throughout gave it a nice texture, but the flavor wasn't overpowering. It still tasted fresh and balanced, which I really enjoyed. Then there was the mint chocolate chip. The chocolate chips were small enough to blend nicely into every bite instead of taking over the ice cream. The mint and chocolate had a really nice balance; refreshing without being too strong. Honestly, all three flavors tasted incredibly fresh, and you could tell there was attention to the quality of the ingredients. I also appreciated that the staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The bakery itself has that classic Italian pastry-shop feel, making it the kind of place where you can stop in for something sweet and somehow leave wanting to try five more things. My favorite? Overall, Neil's Donuts is a dang gem and one of the best things Connecticut has to offer and such a great place.
