I'm sorry but these donuts suck on early Saturday mornings. For the last few weeks our coworker will bring in donuts from this place, he must be there around 6am or so. ALL those early Saturday donuts from this place are nasty and it's the OIL. The oil tastes rancid. I have never been one to decline or throw away a day old donut but these aren't old and stale, they are rancid tasting and into the trash it goes. Granny's please do better, change your oil. Do something! read more

The absolute BEST cake doughnuts in the Alhambra area. The service is always so personal and the ladies are so sweet. I picked up a mixed dozen and two dozen of doughnut holes. My fave is the cake with chocolate frosting and peanuts. Location is easy to find but a tad of a snag to get in to. Parking at times is cramped but opens up pretty fast. read more

I love small donut shops for this reason. Everytime I come in the women are quick to help and super nice. Their donuts are soooo good, other shops have major competition. I go to school at CalState LA so it's really close by, literally across the street. It's nice to have good food options so close to the school. Everything is fresh and they sell out on some donuts pretty fast. read more

Great local shop! We have been here a couple of times. Most recently we had the breakfast sandwich (pics included). It was super yummy and we would get it again. We also tried a donut which was great as usual! The service was friendly and our sandwich was prepared quickly There is seating inside but we have always gotten our food to go. My work is having a meeting and decided to see where I should get donuts at. My co worker recommended this place since he has been there before, it is close by, and has great reviews. I ordered the dozen mixed donuts. The glazed donut is delicious, soft, fresh, and wasn't very expensive either. The parking lot is small. The employee was very friendly and helpful. My favorite place to get holes when I'm in near the Cal State LA area, Granny's is an old school mom and pop shop where the regulars go in to grab a coffee in a styrofoam cup and a claw or twist and a lottery ticket. I wonder how long those cup noodles have been sitting on the counter, do cup noodles go bad? Who goes to a donut shop and gets a cup noodle anyway. read more

Everything tasted super fresh, the breakfast sandwiches are delicious, drinks are top notch, doughnuts were all soft and fresh. Highly recommend. Granny's iced coffee tasted like Vietnamese coffee, very sweet. If you like sweet iced coffee you will enjoy it. Maple bar was extra good. read more

As much as I love those $3-$4 "artisanal" donuts that are popping up all over LA, I still love good old-fashioned pink box donuts that have been made from the same recipe for decades. Granny's cake donuts are some of the best I have ever had! I just ate one this morning. It was small and slightly crispy on the outside but perfectly light on the inside. I am not sure how much a single donut costs here, but I bought 4 dozen and 1 croissant and my total was $39, so I am guessing a dozen donuts costs around $9. I've been craving donuts for a solid week. I didn't want a $5 overpriced and overly complicated donut. No. I wanted a simple but tasty donut. My brothers directed me to Granny's Donuts and I am so glad they did. We ordered a dozen donuts plus a few extras and some Thai teas (apparently the Thai teas are fireeee.) I loved the donuts. My personal fave is the simple glazed twist or round donut. We dropped by around 5 pm and there were still tons of donuts on display. I was scenically of afternoon donuts but they seriously tasted so good and I could tell they were not hot out of the kitchen. They have alllll the different kinds of classic donuts you could want. Maple bars, old fashion, glazed, powdered, jelly/custard-filled, Apple fritters, bear claws, and so on. The Thai teas were also not bad! I'd recommend if yo my have some too for more sweets after your donut. I am so happy my brothers tipped me off about Granny's Donuts. It's not overly popular right now, but I have a feeling it's going to blow up. read more

Some people are donut people and some are not. I am not, but I make an exception for Granny's Donuts. My family has been coming to Granny's for years and it is always consistently good. I recently bought 2 dozen for a work event, two days in a row. The donuts were gone each day. The service is good and it your basic no frills donut shop. It is in a strip mall near Cal State LA. The strip mall itself has seen better days, but I overlook that for the taste of the donuts. read more

The cake donuts are a little crispy on the outside and really soft and airy in the middle. I got a chocolate cake bar, it didn't crumble off when I ate it. The folks there are really nice. There is a large drink selection - sodas, juices, energy drinks, lots of snacks too. I really like this place. read more

The customers were coming in and out of this popular little shop. I bought a chocolate cake donut, bear claw and a big Ham, Cheese, and Jalapeno croissant and all of them were very fresh tasting. They don't skimp on their filling as they are loaded with fresh tasting ingredients without being too sweet. The croissant had my mouth on fire for a minute with all those jalapenos in it. read more

I'm still trying to figure out what they put in the iced coffee.. It is delicious! To not make many roundtrips I usually order 4 iced coffees 1 with ice 3 without and 2 dozen donut holes. (If I'm hungry I'll grab an extra donut for the trip home). Once you try this coffee, say good bye to the competition. read more

Awful. I found some pieces of metal shards in my boba. When I returned to show management I was provided a response "the manager will refund you your money". Yikes. What a pleasant discovery to walk into such a fresh and friendly local donut and sandwich shop. Ordered the Roast Beef with everything and totally loved how FRESH and delish it was! Plus it was a pretty big sandwich too--only had half and belly is already very happy. Bit inyo my daughter's glazed donut. IT was sooooo pillowy, light and FLUFFY. wow! This place is truly great! From the drinks to the donuts and bagels & sandwiches! I love getting their breakfast bagel with everything. The jalapeños are not spicy at all and add a great flavor to it. Definitely recommend if you're in the area. You can pair it with an ice coffee, Thai tea or one of their other drinks they make. If you're in a hurry, mornings are usually busy so I always call as I'm driving there to order my bagel ahead of time. The lady is so sweet. I absolutely love this place! read more

This is an unassuming place near CSULA. After reading all the rave reviews, I decided to stop here to pick up some donuts for a meeting I had today. I also ordered an apple fritter for myself. The apple fritter was surprisingly fresh. It was noticeably better than the apple fritter sold at Starbucks. Granny's Donuts isn't much of at all in presentation. It's far from being hip and trendy. The shop shows wear and tear with dated decor. The glass display can use some cleaning. But the qualify and taste of its donuts are blameless. read more

It was nothing like a glazed twist donut; the only similarity was that it was twisted. It seemed to be baked, not fried. It was very good quality, but I really messed up by not getting a creme-filled donut instead. My friend had a pecan roll and loved it. The quality of the product here is top tier for sure. The prices are premium, but the quality matches the price. They also sell sandwiches as well as coffee and tea drinks. I will certainly go back and try one of the many creme-filled donuts.
