When you spend hours at the Red Barn, you have to find something to eat other than the great little donuts outside near the produce. We got 4 tacos for $7. They are small, soft tacos and are just ok. Food did come out hot and fast, but I am not in a hurry to return.

    My favorite! Chicken Toastadas!

Our favorite for several years! We compare every Mexican restaurant we go to Marias! Everything is Great but on weekends they have specials, the green sauce and horchatta! Just wish they were in a big outside restaurant tooooo. Sometimes hard to park or find a table. Maria and her brother are The Best!

This restaurant is located inside the RED BARN Flea Market. The number I listed is the number for the Flea Market as I could not find a number for Maria's (not sure they have a phone). The Red Barn is a takeout only make-to-order taqueria we stumbled on about 5 years ago when visiting the flea market. At that time my wife had the chicken sopes. She's never forgotten them and has attempted to find another place that comes close to Maria's. The sope is a little bowl made of masa (a corn dough made of hominy), fried and then filled with your favorite Mexican dish fillings. When we've ordered them other places they have been more like corn meal and/or they get soggy. Maria's hold up to whatever it put in them and they have a great flavor. The chicken sope's are to die for. The chicken is marinated and has a mild spicy flavor. I go for the tacos. Today I had the tacos pastor and I was not disappointed. Maria never disappoints me. Maria's guacamole is unlike anything I have had before. It's been liquefied in a blender - you literally pour it on. It tastes great and in this form it works its way into the food instead of sitting on top of it. It's not my favorite way to eat guacamole, but I've had much much worse. The tomatillo and chipotle sauces are fresh as well as the pico de gallo. It's obvious that Maria's is well known by the locals. Many people were coming into the flea market to get take out. They had a continuous line of people at their window. The Flea Market itself is worth stopping to take a look. Do yourself and save your appetite for Maria's.

This little restaurant is tucked inside the Red Barn Flea Market. If you are looking for quick and delicious Mexican Street food, then check it out. The staff was nice. A word of warning, brush up on your Spanglish. The lady was very helpful, but had to meet her half way and speak a little broken Spanish. My Spanish is no beuno. My party of three ordered 4 steak tacos, 3 pork gorditas, 3 chicken sopes, and 3 jarritos. We had a spread of street Mexican food for $23 and we decided to share tapas style. Very reasonably priced. Saturday and Sunday were super busy. We decided to eat lunch on Monday. It was way more mellow on a weekday. All in all it was great Mexican street food. If you are a lover of authentic Mexican street food, then check it out!

I've had the caldo de Rez, tacos, and tamales. They all were way above average!! This is my go to spot for caldo de Rez.

I beg you: come hungry! You're going to want to try everything!…read more I was on my way back to Tampa from Sarasota and decided to stop in. This standalone restaurant is on a busy road, but has plenty of parking and a little lake next to the lot. It's big but cozy, with a fun decor-lots of booths and tables in two different rooms plus a bar to belly up to. My server was sweet and attentive-but didn't hover. She had perfect timing. The complimentary chips were warm and the salsa had just a little kick to it-good combo. I had to order the white queso dip... I mean, who am I if I don't try the queso? It was silky and comforting. I ate every drop. By this time I was full-but I wanted to try more things. I ended up going with the build your own: one taco (really tasty! Simple but oh so good!), one chile relleno (generous serving-lots of meat and cheese/less pepper) and one chicken enchilada Suiza (I think it was dark chicken-but check me on that). This is a lot of food-and you also get two sides! I chose rice and black beans-which were both excellent. The lunch menu has great choices/prices and there's a happy hour from 3-7 (not sure if it applies to the weekend-should have checked-sorry!). The booth was comfy and it wasn't loud in there (except for the folks next to me-who I now know wayyyyy too much about!) I think the ac was out when I was there-or on its last legs. But that's fixable. I'll definitely go back again. I had the house margaritas this time (good! Perfect sweetness levels-lightly strong, if that makes sense) and want to try others on the list. Clean-casual-good service-big menu. Thanks, Poblanos! See you soon!
