There's NO "authentic Mexican food" in Bradenton. It's ALL actually "Tex Mex". EXCEPT Maria's at the Red Barn. The cooks are right there preparing the food in front of you, and the menu items you don't find at other Mexican eateries. When you see Mexicans in line you know it's the real thing. And Carlitos is friendly, fast processing the orders, and will answer any questions about the menu, since you might not be familiar with the dishes. BUT!!! Everything is delicious. read more

We used to LOVE the tacos here. My husband was so excited to be coming here. BUT, 8 tacos and two bottled cokes are now 36.00! I know the price of things are crazy but 5.00 for one bottles soda is too much for a flea market. They gave us the hot sauce but left the limes out (bet that saves some money too) ! You get charged .50 cents extra per taco if you want flour tortillas over corn. Meat quality is definitely not what it used to be. If this is your go to at the RED BARN I would go to somewhere else. For a place you wait on yourself, too pricey and mediocre quality. read more

When you spend hours at the Red Barn, you have to find something to eat other than the great little donuts outside near the produce. We got 4 tacos for $7. They are small, soft tacos and are just ok. Food did come out hot and fast, but I am not in a hurry to return. read more

This taco stall in the Red Barn Flea Market could be great. There is booth and bar seating, and it is indoors, in an air conditioned area. They serve Horchata, as well as Aguas Frescas, with more of a selection on the weekends. Most of the Mexican customers order Hamburguesas at Maria's instead of the tacos, which makes me wonder. However, one time we made a mistake of sitting at the bar to eat. We were seriously pushing tiny roaches away from our food with napkins the entire time. I got grossed out and could not eat here anymore. Hopefully, they have taken care of the problem. read more

This is a taco stand inside of the Red Barn Flea Market. We often go there for their tacos. I especially enjoy their Lingua (tongue) tacos. They are fresh and flavorful. Often times I see the ladies in the back making fresh tortillas and fresh sauces to accompany them. The service is friendly and their prices are average, but I don't care about either when I am at the flea market. The food is great. That's all that matters when I am out buying veggies for the week. My parents live in the Sarasota area and whenever we visit, we always grab a meal or two here! Fresh, generous servings, great selection including some really tough things to find...just always such a treat. Make sure to get a big cup of horchata with your meal! Located in Red Barn this is a gem for what it is which is very authentic Mexican. This isn't gourmet/fusion/tex mex but this is home cooking and they even have menudo on weekends. Food is wonderful and I can't say anything everyone else hasn't already. This restaurant is located inside the RED BARN Flea Market. The number I listed is the number for the Flea Market as I could not find a number for Maria's (not sure they have a phone). The Red Barn is a takeout only make-to-order taqueria we stumbled on about 5 years ago when visiting the flea market. At that time my wife had the chicken sopes. She's never forgotten them and has attempted to find another place that comes close to Maria's. The sope is a little bowl made of masa (a corn dough made of hominy), fried and then filled with your favorite Mexican dish fillings. When we've ordered them other places they have been more like corn meal and/or they get soggy. Maria's hold up to whatever it put in them and they have a great flavor. The chicken sope's are to die for. The chicken is marinated and has a mild spicy flavor. I go for the tacos. Today I had the tacos pastor and I was not disappointed. Maria never disappoints me. Maria's guacamole is unlike anything I have had before. It's been liquefied in a blender - you literally pour it on. It tastes great and in this form it works its way into the food instead of sitting on top of it. It's not my favorite way to eat guacamole, but I've had much much worse. The tomatillo and chipotle sauces are fresh as well as the pico de gallo. It's obvious that Maria's is well known by the locals. Many people were coming into the flea market to get take out. They had a continuous line of people at their window. The Flea Market itself is worth stopping to take a look. Do yourself and save your appetite for Maria's. read more

This little restaurant is tucked inside the Red Barn Flea Market. If you are looking for quick and delicious Mexican Street food, then check it out. The staff was nice. A word of warning, brush up on your Spanglish. The lady was very helpful, but had to meet her half way and speak a little broken Spanish. My Spanish is no beuno. My party of three ordered 4 steak tacos, 3 pork gorditas, 3 chicken sopes, and 3 jarritos. We had a spread of street Mexican food for $23 and we decided to share tapas style. Very reasonably priced. Saturday and Sunday were super busy. We decided to eat lunch on Monday. It was way more mellow on a weekday. All in all it was great Mexican street food. Lunch at Maria's was the high point of our produce run to Red Barn, with very good Mexican street food, friendly service and low prices Our chicken sopes and tostadas were tasty and generously portioned. The accompanying salsas were excellent. Others at our table enjoyed the Menudo and quesadilla with fajita, and that looked very good also. There was line on at Sunday lunchtime, but it moved quickly and was definitely worth the wait. read more

This place is inside the Red Barn Flea Market. We are here for lunch. We ordered the pork tacos, you receive 4 of them and there pretty small. They were ok for authentic Mexican food. Note the price is $7 bucks for a plate of 4. They have all there sauces on the side. There red sauce will light your mouth on fire so if your into that then this is your place. Overall it was ok to eat at but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again. read more

Don't be surprised when you walk up to this carnival type stand in the middle of a flea market to see someone working away making fresh tortillas by hand. Love this place. I eat a lot of Mexican food and this little gem is by far my favorite. This is not some bs Tex Mex junk. You feel like you have taken a vacation to playa del sol. Try to ignore that you're in a busy flea market because the authntic food is worth the sacrifice of having to seek out a spot to chow down at. This is my new favorite spot for a diet cheat day. I've been to Maria's a few times, and this last time was the BEST. Anthony Bourdain often says for the best, more authentic food, go where the locals go. This place is the real deal for Mexican food. This is by far the best Mexican street food I've had. Service is fast and the food is very cheap, it's only $6 for two quesadillas! I've tried the chicken quesadillas, tacos, and sopes, which are all great, I can't pick a favorite! They have a varied selection of sauces and the tables are kept clean. A must try!
