We so appreciated how they connected with us and made our day perfect! Charles at the bar made my husband a really good spicy Margarita and the supervisor, Roberto made sure to talk to us and all the guests to see that they were taken care of! I hesitated to give this review but our experience left us with such a bad feeling and reading another reviewer who had a similar complaint I thought I should. We've only been here twice - the first visit was more than good - it was a busy night but we got seated outside and our food came out quickly. We ordered all appetizers to test a variety of food, and none of them disappointed. The server guy was fast and friendly. The second visit we came on a not-so-busy night, I'd say the place was about half full on a rainy day. My husband couldn't decide what to order - the menu is large, so he asked the server what she recommended. Without missing a beat she said the skirt steak was her favorite. So he ordered that. I ordered the short ribs. Even though the place was not busy, it took forever to get our meals this time, and the server was nowhere to be found - she didn't stop to explain the wait. Finally our meal came. The skirt steak was served sliced, with a side container of brussels sprouts. Average-looking. And my husband thought it was average-tasting. The shock was when we got the bill. Apparently the skirt steak was a Wagyu steak and the most expensive item on the menu. When the server recommended it she did not say it was a Wagyu steak and she didn't give a heads-up on the price. When I mentioned our surprise the server just shrugged it off. As the days passed by I felt more and more burned by the experience. Before writing this I looked at their web site to find the item and it was listed at $60. We were charged over $100 for the Wagyu skirt steak - don't know what happened there. I'm an old lady and this kind of thing has never happened to me at any restaurant anywhere. read more

Very nice experience here! Our server was incredible. The food was excellent! Pricing was on par. Huge Tequila selection and fresh-made cocktails. We love this place! Great, modern vibe. The menu is a modern take on Mexican food which we love. There are so many interesting dishes. We've had the al pastor sea bass tacos, mushroom and soyrizo taco, the steak sandwich, barbacoa torta, fuego rice bowl, and carne asada tacos. All of the tacos are amazing and come on homemade blue corn tortillas. The steak sandwich is phenomenal. Very tender meat and a delicious sauce. The torta was good but not as good as the rest of the dishes we've had. It was a little less dynamic flavor-wise than their other stuff. I tasted the meat (which was very good) but not much of else. They also have fantastic cocktails. I love the smoked bourbon old fashioned which gets smoked table-side. My wife loves The End is Clear cocktail. It's a very subtle flavor but it's phenomenal. The restaurant had a really nice vibe and I love how the patio seating allowed us to listen to the music, catch the breeze, and people wtZh. I went for a drink and churros. On Thursdays there were $8 martini specials and the Lemon drop with tequila was amazing! When you sit down they greet you with chips and salsa but we did not like the chips at all! They were extremely bitter so we asked the server to take them back. We just wanted a few churros but their only option was to get a family board which seemed like a huge miss for folks that want a smaller portion or even come in by themselves. A neighbor recommended Fuego Comida & Tequila Lounge here in Bradenton (Lakewood Ranch) - and we're glad they did! The bar (where we were seated at a high-top) had great people-watching views - and an interesting rotating digital display of various paintings. We arrived about 4:00 for dinner, and it wasn't long until the restaurant was hopping. Dillon promptly arrived at the table, and although I was disappointed there were not frozen margaritas, the beer he suggested did the trick. My husband and I each had an enchilada skillet - he had the chicken, but I told him my beef skillet was better. Tasty, spicy (not hot, but very flavorful). Lots of cheese layered with the meat in a VERY hot skillet. What dinner would be complete without sharing dessert - and we had Dillon's recommendation of the butter cake, topped with ice cream, caramel sauce, and candied pistachios for texture. (Side note: a bar patron accidentally dropped her shrimp cocktail, and the servers were prompt cleaning it up and replacing her appetizer.) The manager stopped at our table to verify all was well. Chips were very heavily seasoned and just personal preference I like chunks of onion and cilantro in my salsa. We ordered the birria empanadas, chicken enchiladas, carne asada tacos with green rice. We ordered the happy hour spicy margarita and because we have never been there before we received a complimentary tequila tasting which was a nice touch. When trying a new place, we typically keep it easy. We skipped in at the outside bar like 5 min before happy hour ended. We were waited on by Cody immediately. He was superb!!! Prompt service and provided us with everything to get started. We ordered a a few apps and one entree. I'm not sure I'd ever sit anywhere else. The atmosphere is perfect out here, with the gas heaters and it's lively. The nachos were ok, the habanero wings were great, shishitos were great, the wedge salad was almost great. The dressing is excellent. I think it needed some more potent cheese and scallions. Once the pork belly had some dressing on it, terrific. Loved the tajin and cheese on the nachos but they were bland. Probably need some better salsa and jalepenos. The tomatoes in the little salsa provided were not very ripe. My husband and I met with several friends at Fuego Comida & Tequila Lounge for the first time tonight. Loved the vibe! The staff was excellent, and our waiter, Christian, was outstanding. Our drinks were great, and I especially loved my watermelon margarita. We started with guacamole and chips. While I prefer my own guacamole, this one had too much lime for my taste and needed some salt. My husband had the skirt steak, and I ordered the noodles with Dungeness crab. I enjoyed my dish, but after trying my husband's skirt steak, I think that's what I'll order next time. It had amazing flavor. I was very impressed with our server, Christian's patience. My husband can be quite difficult to serve, but Christian kept a smile on his face throughout the night. Kudos to Christian! PS. It wasn't cheap. I was working in the area and stayed right next to the restaurant. Their service was amazing. The outside bar was closed but they let us sit there anyways because we didn't want to sit inside. The first visit my food had some mishaps, I didn't point it out in the beginning because the food was great. I pointed out the problem after I finished the food. I didn't expect it but they comped my meal. The reason why I did t mention it because it tasted amazing but I had to mention it because I wanted to make sure it doesn't happen to other guests. Owner went around and ensured we had a great time, even though they were 10mins from closing the store. I would say this is an upscale Mexican restaurant. However the queso isn't upscale. We tried the octopus and it was burnt but very tender. The ahi tuna ceviche was amazing and very flavorful but small portions. We split the strip steak and I would say that it was the best strip steak I have had ever it was huge, juicy, and cooked perfectly. I like a more salty steak but the seasoning was perfect and the corn side was good. They have different sauces to dip or butter. I gave it 4 stars bc the drink prices are insane and not the best. We checked out Fuego on word of mouth from my co-workers, and were thrilled with the experience, the atmosphere was beautiful. Nouveau Gourmet Mexican, not cliché to be sure. I had the Braveheart filet mignon (OMG WHATTA STEAK) , my wife had the Carne Asada tacos. We both had a couple of their signature cocktails which were exemplary if you like Old fashioneds - "Smoke on the Water". Desserts were a wonderful final touch we split a sugar cookie a la mode with candied pistachios and caramel drizzle.
