My first real stinker for a Georgian restaurant…read more Expensive, rather loud considering what this restaurant is, and rather mediocre food for what I got justifies a two star rating. The Khinkali here may be big, but they lack in substance and in style as they are presented lackluster and they lose their integrity fairly quickly. There is no resistance. The Khinkali here fall apart with one small nibble. Tasty, six to a plate, but I made a huge mess eating these when it should not have been. My new favorite bread, the Khachapuri, is a weak spot here. It pains me to say it, but it is. The bread seems underproofed and slightly underfilled. It creates an inconsistent taste pattern. One bite is all bread, the next is all cheese. I had to work this hard to get any harmonious flavor. It seems all the cheese is in one central location and did not spread. The Shkmeruli is the biggest letdown. The sauce it is cooked in has zero flavor despite it being very hot. Unfortunately the chicken is the same. The parts that are hit with the sauce are aggressively salty. The parts that are not are incredibly dry. I think the staff noted my mixed experience, as they did not thank me for my business after I thanked them before leaving. I will not be back.

Wow! I am glad I found this spot on Yelp. The restaurant is at the corner of the block and it has 2…read moresides to order from which is weird, one has Mexican and the other side has more Americanized food. I ordered a steak Cemitas, steak quesadilla and chorizo taco. The steak Cemitas was my favorite, it was huge with stuffed toppings. The quesadilla was tasty and different from the usual quesadillas, it was so crispy with the toppings on top. The taco was my least favorite, it was plain with just cilantro and onions. The service was pleasant and helpful. It was also a really nice day to enjoy authentic Mexican food sitting outside.

The cashier informed me that I could not order through her, yet there was no visible signage indicating where customers were supposed to order. For a business operating in a busy beach environment, clear direction and customer flow are essential, and that aspect was noticeably lacking. The seating situation was equally puzzling. After receiving my food, I noticed many people occupying the tables while eating food from completely different establishments. Throughout my visit, groups carrying various meals from around the beach sat freely without being informed otherwise. This gave the impression that the seating area functions more as a public beach dining space than as seating reserved for paying customers. Management may want to evaluate this arrangement, as it can diminish the experience for patrons who purchased food from the restaurant. As for the food itself, the sandwich was undeniably large and offered a generous portion for the price. However, much of the value seemed tied to its size rather than its flavor. The chicken breast was substantial but lacked seasoning and depth of taste. The agua de horchata was even more disappointing, with a flavor that tasted artificial and more reminiscent of a powdered mix than a traditional homemade recipe. Overall, this is not a place that stands out for its atmosphere, food quality, or customer experience. While the portions are impressive, the flavors fail to match the presentation, leaving the impression that you're primarily paying for quantity rather than quality. With improvements to customer service, clearer organization, and more attention to flavor, the experience could be significantly better in the future. Rating: 3/5 stars. Decent portions, but the overall experience and food quality leave plenty of room for improvement.

It is rare these days to walk into a restaurant and feel like people are actually happy to see you, but that is exactly the feeling here. Our waiter Dennis was fantastic, and everyone who served us was incredibly friendly, generous, and attentive. The service felt sincere and personal. The food was absolutely delicious and the restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable, which made the whole evening even more enjoyable. The vibe of the place is incredible. It reminds you of the old days when dining out meant true hospitality and people who really cared about their guests. Even after we left and went home we kept talking about what a wonderful evening it was. That feeling stayed with us. You can clearly see that Elias truly cares that every guest feels welcome and comfortable. He treats people with genuine attention and kindness and that makes the whole place feel special. A truly memorable experience and we will definitely be coming back.

An orderly line, one-stop-shopping, plus tables and benches outside. They've had seating for awhile ..... but not in the '60s, when we'd regularly stop at Nathan's. The frankfurters are spicy and have snap! The fries are crinkle-cut with their signature ridge, and delicious. Coney Island still has frog's legs (if that's your thing.) But no more pineapple soda, a drink they were known for. (That was my thing.) So .... four hotdogs (two for me, two for T), shared fries, shared soda. $38!!! Kind of expensive. Curious about price before we arrived, I used A.I. since the menu wasn't posted on Nathan's site. Information was inaccurate, citing a discount if you buy two franks and an incremental amount more to tack on fries and a soft drink. Wrong! No meal-deals in Coney Island. Oh well. I enjoyed our brief stop. The days of dollar hot dogs are long since gone.

My new favorite restaurant…read more The food was good, fresh, presumably well-sourced based on taste, and a very fair value. The restaurant is not overly expensive -- the $65.00 lunch bill below suggests a high-end selection and/or apps. I had a pineapple mint lemonade, sea bass on saffron risotto, a lovely salad topped with potato gnocchi, and cake dessert for $85 inclusive of 20% tip and tax. Nearly everything tasted fresh and homemade. Worth it. If this were served in Restaurant Row, the bill would be $40 more and the food not nearly as good. Because Beets & Carrots offers something rare and startlingly somehow in decline: food that tastes like food the body happily accepts as such. They serve meals that stand out simply because they taste like food. It was nice to dine outside the home feeling confident no digestive issues, lethargy, brain fog, bloating, etc were around the corner. You can tell that someone health conscious who cares about how ingredients show up in the meal is in the kitchen, someone who thinks food is both very fun and very serious. Least favorite: The lemonade. Mostly personal preference here, as I prefer a much tarter, less watery lemonade with higher lemon:water volume ratio. But I think most people would like it; I would get it again. Favorite: Both the entree and salad (which surprised me with a deliciously simple horseradish dressing) were great, but the bass wins in my book. Skin crisped to perfection...very flavorful fish and a great cut...creamy, perfect risotto. I appreciated that the risotto wasn't too salty as well.
