I've had my fair share of pretty good and decent Vietnamese spring rolls and Banh mi to know that what I ordered definitely wasn't it... starting with the spring rolls. I was shocked to find that it wasn't wrapped with rice paper, but rather simple basic Chinese spring roll wrappers. The filling didn't have the iconic noodles and wood ear mushrooms nor the taste. But it didn't taste bad. Next was the Banh mi. Classic banh mi have mayo and pate smeared on the baguette and it should have the traditional hams, cucumber, cilantro, pickled carrots and daikon radish. First off, the calamari we ordered was delicious. I got a rice dish with grilled pork chop, Chinese sausage, and a fried egg. The grilled pork chop was flavorful. However, normally, I get full before I can finish a rice dish at pho places like Pho BK, for an example. At this location, I feel like the serving sizes are smaller. We also got pho, which was okay. But there is a good amount of meat slices. As for the Bahn Mi and spring rolls, I was very disappointed. The ambiance of the place was decent. The service was okay too. This is a cute and tiny Vietnamese restaurant with pretty teapots. I used to like their pho; however, the quality of the food changed. Came here for dinner at 5PM on a Saturday afternoon and it was mostly empty so we got seated immediately. The decor is your typical viet restaurant. We ordered the beef cubes over white rice, pork and spring roll over vermicelli rice, and an order of wings. Surprisingly, my beef cubes came first. It was a decent portion size, smaller than what I'm use to but the price is also cheaper than a majority so it reflects. Sauce was tasty and beef was tender. The wings came second and was freshly fried. It didn't have much flavor but it was very juicy and the skin crispy. The vermicelli rice was a great portion with lots of veggies and rice noodles. I dropped by on a chilly day and was granted a warm and comforting noodle soup. Upon being quickly seated, I chose to get hot tea, which was served promptly in a very cute teapot set. At first, the bowl seemed deceiving small, but the portions were actually quite generous. Pricewise, it is very affordable. With tax and tip, it came out to be less than $15! I was the only solo diner, but families with kids and groups of young folks both came in for dine-in meals. I ordered the beef cube salad and told the waiter that I didn't want any sauce in my food and was very clear that I wanted a dry salad lettuce and meat SAUCE ON SIDE as I'm on a strict diet. When the salad came out the beef was cooked in sauce. I told the waiter that I couldn't eat the salad as there was sauce cooked into the meat and asked if they could make a new salad. The manager came over and began to lecture me saying that it's too expensive to remake the salad and that they would still have to charge me. We went back and forth and eventually I said that I would accept the charge and to make me the correct salad. I was hungry and fed up with the situation. This is horrible customer service and I while I enjoyed the salad that was remade I was forced to pay for a salad that I can't even eat. As you can see from the pictures, the portion was incredibly small and the only two piece of dark chicken meat was 95% bone. Imagine paying close to 20 bucks for dead end pieces of chicken...it's highly frustrating and unprofessional. I've been coming here quite a bit in the pandemic. The food is consistent and tasty! Occasionally I forget they're closed on Mondays. Don't make that same mistake :p My usual order is an entree, a beverage and a summer roll side. They have lots of great Vietnamese beverages, so be sure to experiment if you're feeling a refreshing treat. I love their brisket pho (even in the Summer haha) ! Its rich and satisfying. If you enjoy tendon they have a few other pho's that have more types of beef cuts. Their salty plum beverage is fun and as it sounds. I really like the shaved ice drink and coconut coffee as well. Pho 60 has a recent partnership with a sushi restaurant (located in the entrance). They allow you to order from both menus which is very unique and awesome. My work ordered from here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the grilled pork chop with crab patty on rice and a side of spring rolls. The food itself was fairly average though. The crab patty was a bit too dry and not as flavorful as other restaurants I've been to. However, the portion of the roll was pretty large. The pork chop it came with was really yummy though. It was juicy, flavorful and fatty. I do wish there was more veggies it came with though since the meal felt a bit plain. The spring rolls were ok. I always enjoy the noodles and rice dishes at Pho 60. It's one of the few Vietnamese restaurants in the area that serves bun bo hue. I think it tastes pretty authentic, and portion size is great. I often visit when I crave this dish. The pho here has decreased in quality over time. I remember when they first opened, the noodles were different from the other Viet places on 8th avenue. They were more al dente and better quality. Now the pho noodles taste the same as the other places. The broth and meat slices are decent but considering the price is 20-30% more, I would expect better quality. Their Vietnamese sandwiches are quite good. The baguette is toasted fresh and there's a good amount of meat and pickled veggies. If you ask for more pickled veggies, they would also add more for no extra charge. read more

First they would harass you for tip and won't let you leave without tipping and basically more than 15% is required though they said tipping wasn't required. Inside was humid and was not comfy. What happened? Did I come on a bad day, because all 3 things I ordered this week were BAD. I really liked this place before the pandemic and would recommend folks to come. I haven't visited the restaurant since the pandemic and finally decided to come since I was in the area. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (beef, pork feet, pork blood, vermicelli noodles in spicy broth), Grilled Chicken Chop Noodles in Soup, and Special Vietnamese Banh Mi Sandwich. The broth in both noodle dishes were just salty, just MSG or salt, had no depth. The Grilled Chicken Chop was so tiny like it was for a baby, just no. The pork feet in Bun Bo Hue wasn't stewed long enough, it supposed to be tender that would fall apart easily. The Special Sandwich wasn't special, it was eSPECIALLY bad like I can't believe you can mess up a Banh Mi. The bread wasn't toasted enough, the cucumber tasted bitter, it had a small piece of dyed sausage when the menu said it has minced pork, barely noticed the pate. I've eaten many Banh Mi in various places in the city and at other states and this is sadly the worst one I've eaten so far. I've been coming to this Vietnamese restaurant for many years. Welcome to Pho 60 in Brooklyn. Over the years, they moved from authentic Vietnamese to adding sushi to their menu. We don't recognize the staff anymore and wonder if it changed ownership. We had the Vietnamese coffee, pho with brisket and meatball but no tripe and Vietnamese beef stew sandwich. Staff seated us right away and was attentive. Coffee was great. Pho broth had less flavor than previous times. For the stew, there was also less flavor, and the liquid was thin. For the most part, Vietnamese restaurants in NYC are either run by Americanized Viets or Chinese-Vietnamese (hoa ky). To no surprise, Pho 60 is among the latter, and while that usually makes me apprehensive, I'm willing to say the food is solid here after several visits. Is it the best Vietnamese in the borough? Not even close, but as a establishment with a larger menu, I certainly appreciate the variety they have. Pho 60 seems popular, especially on the weekends. During the afternoon there can be a wait and street parking is a challenge. The staff is usually so busy that they're constantly rushing folks out and turning over parties. The interior is big enough for all kinds of groups and the place is well lit, especially during the daytime. Most of the staff here is Chinese, with no knowledge of the Viet language. Once I came with a Vietnamese speaking group and ended up confusing them with our orders; we eventually had to point at the menu and/or say the dish in Mando / Canto. Super typical, it happens so often that I'm no longer phased by it. Let's start with the pho, after all . The murky broth was disappointing and the blandness made me question the soup entirely. It wasn't a total loss, I liked the freshness of the meats and how raw it was. I've never ordered banh mi from here and am unlikely to since it's not a dedicated bakery. Plus, the ones I've seen look tiny; more like rolls than actual sandwiches. Looking beyond the pho, they have a decent variety of other things including a range of noodle soups and other regional Vietnamese classics. They have canh chua, bun rieu, and even the fiery bun bo hue. The latter has blood cubes, copious amounts of cha lua, and while it might not be all that spicy, I appreciate they were able to make a halfway decent attempt at it. They did a good job with the goi cuon (summer rolls), banh xeo, and banh hoi. The real surprise was the fact they had banh beo, which came without the mini plates. Fish sauce was a little watery, but had enough flavor to keep things interesting. The prices are standard, which is to suggest this place is neither expensive nor cheap.
