Another amazing boutique in the WG downtown. Charmed! These guys make fresh yummy chocolate of all kinds and I must say they are all so good, it's hard to pick a favorite. I keep popping everytime I am running errands and getting my chocolate fix. They have a cute sitting area where you can sit down and indulge as well. Perfect spot for a quick bite after a date! Our daughter is a baby so at this time she loves staring at the chandelier here. The couple who run the store are super sweet and have a great sense of humor. Exceptionally good quality and very attentive service! I am 100% craving them right now! Went on Valentine's Day and had a nice little mix of chocolate. I loved the filled lemon chocolate and also the coconut dark chocolate cluster. My favorite probably has to be the bark with all the different ingredients with a little kick of spice. It is worth it's weight in gold! The one other chocolate shop I found that rivals this is way on the other side of the East Bay hills in Danville... Me and the kids just recently discovered this place and wow were we surprised! We've only tried a couple things so far but each item has been top notch. These guys really know what they are doing. My kids are fanatics for chocolate covered gummy bears and I have to say they make the best ones by far. The gummies aren't old and stale but soft and chewy. Milk Chocolate is creamy and not overly sweet. You can tell these things haven't been sitting in the shop for long. The second time we went we tried the mint chip ice cream sandwiches. And that was also amazing! The cookie wasn't hard but soft which made the texture so much more enjoyable cause you could really get the flavors of the cookie. The mint ice cream wasn't overly minty which my girls loved. And the chocolate chip bits were just the right size. Overall, well done ice cream sandwich from texture to flavor. My kids and I ranked it #1 of all the ice cream sandwiches we've tried and their super picky. The owner is also great to talk to and he's awesome with the kids. The shop is small but nicely laid out. This place is wonderful and I will never shop anywhere else for chocolates after my experience here! We are in the middle of the Covid-19 quarantine and wanted to send a little pick-me-up to all our employees. I contacted Frank and he could not have been more helpful! He shipped 70 packages of chocolates for us in a very timely manner and even added our company logo to the notes he included. He was so easy to work with and I'm incredibly grateful to him for helping us pull this off. Stopped by for some last minute Christmas gifts, right before closing. The owners were welcoming and very patient while I selected some prepackaged boxes. The store is small but the selection of truffles is great. To top it off, I ordered a hot chocolate for myself and they warned me that it was more like "melted chocolate". OMG, it truly was! Never had such rich hot chocolate, especially one with a blueberry taste to it! It's definitely heavy but delish. The chocolates were delicious. Woohoo!! Willow Glen has a chocolate shop! Ok, ok, technically it has Powell's. But that's a candy shop. We're talking gourmet chocolate! So, I heard about this place a couple of weeks ago on the Willow Glen Charm Facebook page and was instantly excited at the idea of a local chocolatier. But there was no exact opening date. I had to stay on it. So for a brief moment today, a picture appeared on my timeline of some ladies in what looked like a chocolate shop. No announcement or other text accompanied this post. I was intrigued. Ok, a little more than intrigued. I instantly started planning how I could get over there. So I googled it and found there was already a website that listed store hours. This place has been open for days and I didn't even know?? I rushed over there so I could get in on the action. I walked in as someone was wrapping up their purchase and was greeted by the super-friendly owner. We instantly started talking chocolate: dark vs. light, fruits, flavors, sea salt, etc. All the while, I was drooling over their many displays of chocolates. She gave me a tour (quick because the place isn't huge) and filled me in on the sugar-free options, fruit dipped, traditional truffles, etc. I was a kid in a candy store except I didn't have parents restricting what I could buy. Woohoo! I really didn't hold back... I just started picking out chocolates, grabbed a box of dark chocolate caramels with sea salts and was set. My box was filled to the brim. Oh, and you have peanut brittle too? Throw it in! The best surprise of all... I didn't break the bank. For how much chocolate I picked up and the quality, it was an awesome price. I paid just over $20 for at least a dozen individual gourmet chocolates, a 6 pack of salted caramels, and some brittle. Ummm... this could be bad news for the diet. Ok, now you want to know about taste? Delicious! She gave me a sample of one of the orange peels in the shop and I've already started 'testing' out the flavors I picked out. Oh... and the peanut brittle is long gone. Ok, this really will be bad news for the diet. Mariette Chocolates is your one stop shop for your sweet tooth needs. There are truffles, ice cream/gelato (packaged in the freezer - not served), fudge, and other kinds of artisan chocolates. Personally, I'm a marshmallow fanatic. I only come to Mariette Chocolates for two things: the s'mores and a chunk of rocky road. The gourmet s'mores at Mariette are honestly better than any kind of s'mores I could make for myself lol. The milk chocolate s'mores are good, but I've grown more fond of the dark chocolate ones. I'm not much of a dark chocolate fan either! They're just that good. Furthermore, what I love about them is that the marshmallow inside the s'mores is very soft and gooey! I find that that s'mores at other chocolateries have dried out marshmallow. If you're feeling like switching up from the s'mores, the rocky road is a great alternative. The rock road chunks have whole roasted almonds, chewy marshmallow, and the same excellent quality chocolate. The rocky road also comes in either milk chocolate or dark chocolate. read more

The chocolates are absolutely gorgeous! I bought some as gifts. They taste pretty good but the chocolate itself wasn't impressive. I like chocolate that melts in your mouth and this chocolate is more like a crunchy shell. The shopkeeper is super friendly and helpful. Surprised my wife by bringing her to Mariette for her 30th birthday. Her mission: choose 30 chocolates for herself in 30 minutes! Frank was working that afternoon and was a fantastic host. Very cheerful gentleman, all about fun, and a nice sense of humor. He treated us - especially my wife - just wonderfully. Her birthday treat from him was that *she* got to hand-pick each and every chocolate that she wanted. And he even caught her mistake as she surprisingly picked only 29. Two weeks in Europe taught me about cappuccino and after coming back I had such a cappuccino craving. I walked up and down Willow Glen and tried Starbucks but that was a horrible mistake. Maybe the Italian deli makes cappuccino? No. Finally found this place where they make a perfectly fine cappuccino- yay!! Their barista Frank gave me a piece of spicy ginger Covered in dark chocolate that was pretty good as well. Tried a piece of passionfruit wafer that was also amazing. It is a great place to buy dessert to bring to your sophisticated friends house when you're invited over for dinner. Their chocolate and a glass of wine would make an excellent pairing. The prices are very reasonable and their chocolate is of excellent quality. I will definitely pass by here again!! read more

The gentleman who was tending the shop was super nice and amiable. I called ahead to ask about the gift boxes and to see if they had note cards to include with the gift. I was so excited to go buy a variety of chocolates but the minute we walked in, I already had a bad vibe. The store was small, and all the delicious chocolate smells were intoxicating. My SO and I were waiting for a couple minutes since no one was at the counter. A man finally came out, didn't Greet us and just stood there. I started picking out chocolates and would ask him to specify whether the ones I wanted were dark or milk. (I dislike milk chocolate) after the 3rd or 4th one he just had so much attitude and replied, "you know what you can tell by the color". With that attitude old man, you can put back your chocolates, I won't spend $50+ on someone who acts like helping me is such a burden. I'm always looking for a fun/easy hostess gift. Usually I give wine or flowers, but I was invited to a Whiskey Tasting, so wine seemed inappropriate. Artisan chocolate to the rescue! The owner was helpful and suggested a few options that would pair well with whiskey including the dark chocolate imbedded with sea salt, salted caramels or the crème brûlée. Lots of selection in this seemingly small house. got some salted caramels, sour cherry turtle, lemon/orange peels, Mayan chili, ginger chocolates. All were totally solid.
